This reminded me of my grandpa and all his bee boxes. I never understood how he didn't wear NO protection at all and never got stung. It was amazing to watch from a distance. He never allowed us to get close because they would attack. Thanks for the loving memories. He had so many animals that he loved to take care of. Hogs, pigs, cats, dogs, wolf dogs, chickens, roosters and a mule that loved to drink Pepsi out of the glass bottle. He would pick it up, turn it up, drink all of it then sit the bottle back down on the post. Lol. Lord, I miss all those days. They have been gone for many years. ❤

@@HiddenHeightsFarmIf you give the chickens the whole frame, they will clean it up for ya! I’ve seen numerous bee keepers do this instead of cleaning them yourself. I wouldn’t put them in the front pasture with the nosy goats and those two big footed birds y’all got!!

The bee keeper at Cog Hill told Jason and Brooke to put the frames in the chicken yard and the chickens would clean the moths out better than they ever could. They did it and within a couple of days all of the frames were completely cleaned. You might want to try it. ❤

The brood where it doesn't belong COULD be drone brood. Worker bees can lay eggs that develop into drones, so when you find brood where the queen shouldn't have access to, it's probably drones.
@Kami-xy2ng
@Kami-xy2ng 5 күн бұрын
Your hive made a queen cell for the top of that hive, check the bottom part below the queen excluder and you will probably find more honey. Split that hive and make it two hives, the bees already have done that for you.

Beekeeping was the hardest and most expensive failure I’ve ever experienced. After 4 years and only 1 honey harvest. I donated my empty hives and equipment to a local beekeeping club. I’m allergic to the stings and the full suit was way too hot. Now I just buy my honey from the bee club. Lol

I am intrigued with your bee videos. I wouldn't mind having a hive or two, but I'm so scared of getting stung. I don't think I would have an allergic reaction, but as a little kid, I got stung a bunch in my face and upper body. Our swing set had the end caps off and I and my aunt who was only 6 or 7 years older than I started yelling thru the pipe at the top to amplify our voices. Little did we know, but there were hornet nests in there....not a good ending. My Mom mixed up some mud and baking soda and covered all the stings we got. I'm not a sissy girl...raised on a dairy farm...but bees kinda scare me.

So sorry to hear about your hive. As someone else mentioned put your frames out near your chickens. Your chickens will clean up your frames of all the moth damage. Cogg Hill farms had a hive go bad and they put out the frames and their chickens cleaned them up. I know that you put the queen excluder on ,but did you check the upper frames where there was brood and honey for the queen? If there is brood on those frames, that means the queen might be above the extruder.
