Yup, this gesture by democrats was just a strategic way to keep the GOP looking responsible for all the chaos in the house in the lead up to the election. There is no Democrat in the house that actually want Johnson to be speaker over a Democrat. Obviously some dem voters are gonna be mad that they voted to keep him (most of the Dems who voted not to table this are more progressive ones who would lose significant support in their own districts had they voted to keep Johnson), but the Dems are playing the slightly longer game in order to be in a strong position to retake the House in November and get Jeffries the speakership. This is strategic politics at work. Will it work out for the Democrats? Time will tell (still a long ways till November).

It's a mixed bag. She was trying to represent Congress as a one party state, most often seen in dictatorships, and she's right that such a thing would be bad for the country (she'd probably disagree if the one party were all hard right Republicans like her). But since this is a rare showing of bipartisanship, rather than the norm, it falls pretty flat.

The case isn't suspended indefinitely, it's postponed indefinitely. Which is to say that the judge presiding has decided that if she does anything else to delay it, it's going to be on paper. Stuff on paper can be appealed upwards, at which point it would almost certainly be reversed. But if she just refuses to do anything, well... What's Smith going to do about it that could possibly result in the case going to trial before the election? It does also mean that the other presiding judges in the Trump cases get a clean field to play with but those trials are pretty well held up by SCOTUS taking their sweet time sitting on a completely nonsensical immunity claim. So no, the docs case isn't won for Trump, and he is almost certainly going to get convicted if it ever makes its way to trial, but so far it looks like a 2025 case. And if he's the president in 2025, he's obviously going to have the case stopped and dodge conviction that way. So what you're celebrating is in effect that Trump-friendly judges are bending the law to avoid Trump being held accountable. And while some of the charges might feel a bit bullshitty, the reality is that the docs case is pretty open and shut. Trump did have the documents, he did not have permission to have them, he knew that he didn't have permission, and he intentionally kept them anyway. And he's admitted all of this in interviews with Fox. That's the espionage act violated with intent.

Maybe, but expect the Supreme Court to weigh in as there will be multiple lawsuits. If Individual 1 wins (by some miracle) and then orders his AG to dismiss the case, SCOTUS will have to act as no can be allowed to be a judge and jury in their own case. I understand that is what the present GQP/MAGA Party is hanging their hopes on as it is what their other hero/golden calf, Vladimir Putin, would do. The case is so cut and dried, especially with the theft, improper storage, and obstruction highlighted in the indictment.
