Joe: What Judge Cannon says about Trump's threats is a lie

Judge Aileen Cannon, the judge presiding over Donald Trump’s classified documents case, reprimanded a prosecutor from special counsel Jack Smith’s office at a hearing Monday on a proposed gag order for the former president. Cannon also suggested she was skeptical of attorney David Harbach’s argument that Trump’s comments can be followed by violence from his supporters, saying some “actual connection between A & B” was still needed.

I'd argue the question should be broader - how can you have direct political appointments to the justice system, or even judges affiliated to political parties, and have them preside over political cases? Most of Europe for example has judges and prosecutors appointed by bodies independent of the government to avoid this. Most of Europe has independent bodies drawing up election maps and overseeing the process. As far as I can tell, Judges Merchan and Engeron were perfectly fair with how they handled their trials, they maybe even were too lenient with contempt rulings, but their affiliations allowed Trump to paint them as biased.
