Just bought a pre-owned tobacco finish AGS83B unexpectedly. I’d been looking at the Epiphones but this just sounded way better than what I’d been trying out. Just put it through its paces there when o got home and sounds fantastic. Very happy with this for 399 bucks.

Good to be at it again! This summer was insane haha. I found some cool stuff in the Ibanez archive when I was researching this one. I wish they had been on my radar in those days, I missed some good stuff!

Welcome back, that Ibanez looks sweet and sounds as good as it looks, you were at the right place at the right time to score that deal. I have a Ibanez AEG 70 and a AE 10L both are electric-acoustic and been thinking about getting another, either the AC 340 or the AW 54. It's true that Ibanez gives you a lot of guitar for the money but the same old question keeps popping up, "do I really need another guitar?".

What’s up DM! Glad to be back at it. Man you’re not kidding, that’s why I didn’t buy it the first day I saw it haha! I kept questioning if I should get another one but it’s like it called my name 😁. When I went back and it wasn’t in the same spot I was sweating it. So glad they still had it! I’ve been really impressed with the Ibanez stuff I’ve tried.

Wow, this Ibanez is beautiful. The dark hardware and binding against the yellowed wood is stunning. Sounds great. Would love to find one like it. Closest I came was an Epi 339 with a honey amber finish for sale used from GC Ok City but I was too slow and missed out. In a way that was ok because it led directly to finding my LP Special P90. All's well that ends well. Congratulations to you on snagging this Artcore!

Thanks! When I walked by it I stopped in my tracks haha. It cracked me up that the GC employees had it hidden in the back the next day too. I was lucky to find that one at the right time. I love my LP Special. I was tweaking the setup on it last night. As soon as I’m off work I’m going to go jam on it! Congrats on picking one up, fun guitars!

Ive had this exact guitar for a couple years, its an excellent value and an incredibly playable guitar. I just bought the trans black model with the exact same flamed maple front sides and back.

I own an Ibby AGS83B in this finish. I guess it's been well over 15 years since I bought it new. It's simply one of the best guitars I've ever owned. I have also played the finish off the hardware and half the bridge pickup. Which looks killer with the matte finish. Believe it or not, I use my 83 to play pretty thrashy, heavy metal. In fact, I keep it tuned one step down to D, just like my solid bodies. It's definitely fun to play heavy metal on a semi-hollow.

Holy crap it is that one! I remember the one of you playing on stage with it. I didn't recognize it since it wasn't metallic looking in this video. A white cover would look good too. Anything is better than black LOL. I always change the black knobs out on my LP's when I buy one. Love your channel btw!

I saw this guitar in 2009 in a store and bought it used in 2014. Then I put the JB and Jazz pickup combo on it and it rips!

Yes, roll back the tone on the neck pickup, because the highs are grainy, kind of cheap sounding (unless you like that sound, or can cover it with distortion.) I'll put a link to some jazz that I played on this exact model of guitar. I used the old stings that were very old, but the sound of the gaininess, shows in this video, too. I agree with you that this is a nice guitar, but those pickups, the stock ones, just sound kind of economy to me. The guitar is built well, and the action, right out of the box is very low. PS: The binding looks like a decal, patially. It's got kind of a faux look to it. It's kind of facade, economy looking. The tuners are smooth as silk on these. The lightning bolt, indeed is the Artcore series, until they got tired of making it look like something a comic book hero would have on his chest or logo on his hat, and they change to the art deco looking logo. About the guitar pushing your amp, I'd take that to mean a slight bit of distortion, even on a clean setting on your amp. That is a characterisitic, I believe (tell me if I'm wrong) of ceramic magnet pickups that are designed like this. kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKi9ZZiui5xlY5I

That is One Sweet Guitar . Looks OLD but isn't . Needs a Proper Bone Nut or Graph-Tec . I could see one of those living with me . Coil splits would open it up . BTW , if it's pushing your Amp you should probably lower the P/U heights . I thought that anyway just by Eye .

Thanks I dig it too! For sure it could use a nut upgrade. It’s interesting, when I was researching it I noticed most of them had a black nut so I think someone may have swapped it already. It could be better. I lowered the pickups down some last night and it sounds more balanced now 👍

I have a black, special ordered early one. It has a white nut from factory. I actually had to sell it, early on, regretted it for years, tried to find another one. Then one day i had a dentist appointment. I walked by my local music store on the way there... There it was. Someone had traded it in. Bought it back immediately. Now i will never part ways with it. Sounds great. But even better now when i have changed the pickups. Luckily, just the other day i stumbled on a AGS-73BT - black with Bigsby. Almost impossible to find. Bought it.
