Fun fact, Jonah Hill did not like the actor for Mclovin so he begged Seth Rogan to not add him. This is what actually pushed Rogan to actually cast him because he thought it was funny. When Jonah was yelling at him it was pretty genuine 🤣

The last scene is so bitter sweet. They each found someone they want to be with, but life drifts people away. You never know when it's the last time you see someone, hang out with your best friend. Them looking back at each-other, going away with girls, might mean it's the last time they hung out on their own... or ever. But that's life, it's normal, but can't help feel sad and nostalgic in a way.
@slxdeprod2 жыл бұрын
yeah I love that shot tbh. And maybe I'm reading too much into it but I feel like the escalator itself is a metaphor. they're both just chilling, standing in place, but the escalator is like life whisking them apart despite them both just standing there, living their lives. It's just one of those things that I didn't really understand/appreciate when I first watched the movie (I was in high school then). I feel like you honestly CAN'T grasp the meaning or gravity of the final scene until you actually grow up yourself. And there's aspects of that sprinkled throughout the movie too
@x3mslayer2 жыл бұрын
@@slxdeprod I haven't thought about the escalator that way, that is so true! I can see your point and the symbolism. The final scene grows more and more meaningful as we grow :D hahaha

Damn. This came out the year I graduated high school. 2007. My friend group had it playing on a constant rotation whenever we were all hanging out trying to see who could go get us alcohol, or seeing which girls we could get to come over for the party, smoking, just figuring it all out as college approached. We only had Facebook for like a year or two and everyone was just starting to see how many different social circles there were amongst everyone from the high schools in town. It was the year I met the girl I thought I’d marry, a hot blonde hair and blue eyed cheerleader who I was so scared of and awkward around before finally managing to make it happen with her. Life is so different at that 18-21 year old timeframe. It seems like everything going on is just the way it’s going to be. Fast forward 14 years to 2022 and I’m living a great life, but haven’t seen or spoken to any of them in years. It’s like those years are there, for short period, to learn who you are through others.

Seth Rogen and his best friend Evan Goldberg wrote this movie when they were growing up and kept working on it for years until they finally ended up making it. They loosely based it on their lives and experiences they had in high school which is why they made the dialogue between the characters super awkward at times because nerdy high schoolers don't know how to talk to the opposite gender without being cringe or awkward
