My older sister had two children with Downs Syndrome. One has trisomy 21 and the other has trisomy 13. When I became pregnant with my oldest son, I was counseled to be screened for genetic issues. After having an amniocentesis, they asked me what I would like to do if it came back positive. When I told them that I would have my baby and love it anyway; the doctor almost blew a gasket! He asked me why I wasted their time! I told him that I was under the assumption that they were doing it to prepare me for the possibility, and to provide medical care if the occasion arose where it was necessary. He and the nurse stormed out like I had committed some unforgivable offense against them!! (I could see how some people who were not used to being around a child with such a condition would have caved in and agreed to abort the baby) I am happy to say, I went on to have 2 healthy children. My sister’s children are both alive and well and in their late 30’s and early 40’s!! They are a joy to her and the most loving people I know. They all attend church and when I need prayer, I call on my nephew, David. 🙏❤️

Thank you for that mention of the gift of being single. I knew at the age of 25 that I was not going to have children, a revelation from God. However, I never thought that God didn't want me to get married, so I lived my life & realize now that God did give me the gift of being single & seeking out His plan for my life. My friends in California vaccinated their first born son after being born back in the 1990's. He got a 'bad batch' & had many seizures in that first year of life. Unfortunately he now has seizure disorder and is special needs, but he is full of life & God has blessed this family for trusting Him in all the decisions they have made for him. He seemed a little surprised, but didn't throw a fit. The test came back negative, but just like most families (not us) like to find out the sex of their baby so they have time to prepare (buy corresponding nursery items and clothes, pick a name, etc.), we just wanted time to prepare if faced with raising a child with a disability. The ancient civilization most commonly associated with records of rulers living for hundreds of years is ancient Mesopotamia. Specifically, in Sumerian and Akkadian mythologies, there are stories of rulers known as "kings list" where some kings were said to have reigned for incredibly long periods, sometimes exceeding lifespans of thousands of years. One famous example is the Sumerian King List, which includes rulers such as Alulim, who purportedly reigned for 28,800 years, and En-men-lu-ana, who supposedly ruled for 43,200 years. These accounts are typically considered mythological rather than historical fact, and they likely served symbolic or religious purposes in the civilizations' cultural narratives.

2:30 Someone needs to do an in depth study of epigenetics and where it leads. Because the way it seems to work is it absolutely DOES pass on to your descendants the tendency to sin in certain ways! That's probably why Numbers 14:18 exists. God is telling us our sins will disadvantage our offspring! I know this freaks people out,and everyone then tries to prove it false,then go off on the 'how can a loving God allow this' tangent ,etc,etc But why shouldn't God allow this to happen? He allows our sins to hurt others,so why should our descendants be exempt?

Humans once were supposed to live forever without death, then Adam and Eve sinned...and the entire human history goes downhill from there, and God cut humans' lives to 900 years, 120 years... The more sins humans commit the shorter our lifespans become. TRUTH
@joesalyers
@joesalyers 4 ай бұрын
You miss interpret the 120 years statement in Genesis let me explain it isn't talking about lifespan. When God makes the 120 year decree "My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years" he isn't taking about human lifespan but the years Noah has left before the flood comes. But in English it gets misunderstood. The English translations is close but misses the mark. Also on another level it makes no sense because for generations and Generation after the flood men lived beyond the 120 year mark, including Abraham who lived 175 years and Abraham's life would have been nearly 3 centuries after the flood. So in the other Biblically historical books mentioned in the bible like Jasher (mentioned by Joshua while conquering Cainan) we know God gave man a chance to repent and Noah needed time to get ready for the flood. God gives his timeline and its 120 years.
@CP-zb3ky
@CP-zb3ky 4 ай бұрын
@@joesalyers I'm afraid you're the one mistaken, 120 years is very clear in many places of the bible- Genesis 6:3, Deuteronomy 34:7, Numbers 33:39, Judges 2:8 etc. What bible are you reading? Besides, whether 900 or 120 is approximate for each period, of course some may live a little longer some a little shorter. Just like today's human lifespan is 80 (Psalms 90:10), some people live beyond 80 some die earlier than 80. You may be right that it was 120 years before the flood when God promised it, but it's also true human lifespan was cut to about 120 years especially in light of other parts of Scriptures. And it appears to be further cut to 80 (Psalms 90:10) which agree with facts today. The more sinful human race becomes, the further the righteous and holy God cuts short the human lifespan.
@joesalyers

@@CP-zb3kyIn Hebrew its clear in English it is just isn't! When God made the decree to Lamech of 120 years it was exactly 120 years from that day to the day the flood began the Dead sea scrolls calendars are clear about this along with Methuselah dying 7 days before the flood. God keeps good records. I never gave Noah's age. I did use Abrahams age of 175 as an example who was born between a couple centuries after the flood in UR and even after 2 centuries men were still living beyond 120 years so that claim is just misunderstood God is never that slow at anything he decrees. Why does it matter because the records from Qumran kept by their Preists were meticulous and confirm what Hebrew texts have said. They were Esseens lead by Zadokite priests who tried to warn the Pharisees that the time of law was ending and the time of the Messiah was coming based on the timeframe God had given to them in the Calendar passed down since before the flood. So I'm using what is known by not only Rabbis but to the ancient Israelites. But it matters because its just mistranslation and a miscommunication from Hebrew to english. Why is all of this important because when the disciples asked Jesus when would they know the end is near he said "as it was in the days of Noah so shall the days of the coming of the son of man be". Its very important to understand that time period. Cheers!

He was talking about how the corruption of the genome could be proof of the longevity claims of the bible being explained. There's actually a lot of science that supports that potential. His mention of sin was his view on the source of the generic mutations, but the mutations themselves were something everyone can agree on. A comparison would be the medical person talking about the origins of pathogens, which everyone agrees on the biology behind them. However, an example of debate would be the progressive people try to claim HIV is newer, and came from a lab or animals, while anyone who does reasonable research will find that it is likely a venereal disease that has been around for centuries, but became more prevalent due to promiscuity especially among homosexual men, but that origin doesn't align with modern progressive views.

Humans lived 900+ years because their genetics started off prefect and had not had much time to deteriorate before the rebellion that caused the flood... after the flood was another great genetic bottle neck that once again caused in-breeding that multiplied the errors in our genetics and dramatically reduced our life span. The same thing also would have happened to dinosaurs and shortened their life span and in their case their size because reptiles grow their entire life, without being able to reach a great size a lot of them probably just couldn't make it with no big ones to defend the little ones they just dwindled along with only a few specimens getting big and written about in ancient texts like job then they just went extinct because they couldn't really handle the new world.

I mean, it makes sense if you think about it. Back then, many, many thousands of years ago the human population was tiny. People had to live for a very long time, produce offspring, and pass the knowledge to the new generation. It's impossible to do that if people live for 30 or 40 years like in medieval times. That's why the first humans had lived for 800 or 900 years. When the human population grew God started to reduce the human lifespan to 400 or 300 years. And later even more to 200 or 150 years. When the population reached millions such a long life span was not needed anymore and now people live way less than 100 years. Now, less than 80 years on average.

We have two sons with Down syndrome: one is our biological son, who is "higher functioning" and fairly independent. The younger one, we adopted as an infant. He is non-verbal and on the Autism spectrum. We have to be detectives when it comes to him because he can't tell us when he is sick or sad; we have to go by his behavior. So, yes, it can be like caring for a pet in that respect. He is very much a human being though, with emotions and needs just like everyone else. He is whip-smart and knows SO much more than we will ever understand because it's so difficult for him to express himself. He does use an augmentative communication device, but that has limits. It's frustrating for him and, at times, effects his behavior negatively as it would ANY of us. Can you imagine hurting and not being able to tell your caregivers what hurts? My husband and I REALLY have to be on our toes and pay attention to the little quirks in his personality. But God gave us this child for His reasons and we know we likely won't find out all of those reasons until we are all with Him, and our son is finally able to speak. I'm looking forward to that day, but count the days until then as a chance to learn to be more like Christ.

Tim, starting 11:50, "awe" is part of worship, is it not? So it can't be a good thing to be in awe but not believe in the Creator. -- P.S. LOVE the scripture you quoted with that! "What is man, that You are mindful of him?" !! Indeed.

Where does the Bible say smoking is bad.. Jesus said its not what you put in your mouth but what comes out of your mouth ..

The Bible said "not to defile your temple (body)". Common sense will tell us smoking is bad for the health.

@91 LoL. There is exactly zero evidence that the earth is flat and insurmountable evidence that it's round. Likewise, there is zero evidence that the earth is 6,000 years old and insurmountable evidence that it is billions of years old. Creationists who believe Genesis is literally true just because it says it is are no different than Flat Earthers that drum up impressively shaky evidence to prop up their preconceived conclusion.

@@Flintlock1776 There is no evidence in an older earth, there are no known historical figures below 4000 BC. It’s all as made up as revealed in the Piltdown Man incident where the ape-man myth was busted when revealed to be modified skulls.
