So sad that Rick Mayal died at such a young age, one of Britains best loved and hillarious comic actors. From a kick up the 80s, young ones Hotel Paradiso Bottom he always excelled with Aide Edmondson, true slapstick comedy, he will always be in my heart. Rip Rick Mayal . Another star shines in the sky for you. M

That's not true at all 😄 Frankie Boyle says some of the most offensive stuff and he still has a career, Ricky Gervais made a show about a slow person and continues to make offensive comedy etc. People, do you not pay attention? We Brits dgaf about PC as much as people think/like to moan about. This comment is under every 80s/90s sketch/stand up comedy performance. It's nonsense and shows just how closed people's eyes are to the facts. Sad really.

@@dixienormous2440 It is not nonsense. There is nothing in Bottom that would stop it being made today. Ade and Rik were the only ones (no pun) doing this slapstick stuff even then. Don’t forget they were both part of the ‘woke’ ‘snowflake ‘ alt comedy scene of the early 1980’s that did away with so called ‘un-pc’ comedy of the time. There is no comparison between Bottom and Chubby Brown’s stand up - both are entirely different from each other.

I live in Bournemouth, its where Mary Shelley is buried and opposite her final resting place is a pub named in her honour. The pub sign is the face of her most famous creation, Frankenstein's Monster and thanks to Rik and Ade every time I see that pub sign I start chuckling, I must look like a right fucking loon walking along on my own chuckling. I'm sure I don't have to tell any Bottom fans why I laugh but if you don't know you'll find a clip on YT...Gold, Frankenstein and Grr. The clip is good but without the context of seeing the whole episode you might be left wondering WTF.

Loved Ade and Rik in Bottom. Crude, rude and just the right level of funny disgust. This was one of the best 90s comedies on the TV. On just if you were heading home early from the pub or getting ready with your mates to go out to a club, just on at the peak right time. I would love for you to review Alan B'stard The New Statesman. Kind of like a modern version of Yes Prime Minster. Just watched a very old Harry Enfield skit I think you might enjoy. Lots of the Geordie (the name for George from the first Hanover monarch about their loyalty to George I against the Jacobites in the 1700s) dialect is derived from Old English, heck even the accent a little later even when after the Normans invaded (certainly the London accent) sounded a bit at least like the Geordie accent as well. But Howay changes depending on the situation, just isnt from Old English but isn't well established where it came from really. Geordie's as in George "Geordie" Ridley in 1862 wrote and sung at Balmbras Music Hall in Newcastle The Blaydon Races song, a Victorian largely horse cart race in Newcastle to Blaydon in Gateshead.
