Rik Mayalls ego could never allow him to be upstaged - but Ade Edmonson knew him so well, they were always competing with other - they were great friends ever since meeting while at university in the 1970's they were a terrific comedy duo, making appearances on British TV first as the Dangerous Brothers, then in The Young Ones (a sit-com) - after that, they did a movie called Hotel Paradiso, Filthy Rich & Catflap, then a new TV series called Bottom, which they also took to the theatre, like this

Messing up was part of their live shows, they made 5 live tours over 10 years and it was full of material the BBC would not dare show! It's about 2 losers of London who never get anywhere with girls so they say a lot of crude things. Like all sitcom losers you laugh at them not with them.
