You can work in small ways (and without watching the news cycle). Find the vulnerable in your community and help however you can (time, money, supplies, cheerleading, whatever). I find that by focusing on helping others, some of them will take on the larger fights. Others are also. I think of it like a battlefield. I'm not on the front lines, but running the supply chain and co-ordinating fighters from a safe distance. I don't know the ins and outs of the battles being fought... I'm keeping those that might end up on the front lines supplied, fed, uplifted, co-ordinated, etc. Worrying about things won't help... do what you can. Vote. Support. Speak up when you can. It will all make a difference!

As a life long Democratic Party voter, I can say it has been with gritted teeth that I have interacted with the local party chapter. Plenty of invites to come to strategy meetings, fundraising events, and get out the vote events, BUT it always is a donation of $100 or more needed for my "volunteer" time and effort. WTH?!! That's half a month of my food budget. It's the cost of my monthly electric bill and internet connection. That's my entire transportation budget for the month. Yeah, the party is way out of touch with their base; the average, struggling working voter.
