Loved them as a teen in the 70s, and still to this day absolutely groove to their music. I was there at the Oakland show before the accident. I was 40 ft from the stage. I will never forget looking up at these musicians with such awe. I was a total Skynyrd head and totally crushed. Every album of theirs is worth a listen. One More from The Road is a great live album to listen to, to give you a great idea of how awesome they were live. It was before their last album, but still a lot of fun. Enjoy.

Please know this comes from a place of TOTAL jealousy within me. I hate you so much for getting to see the Gods live.

That show was 3 months prior to the crash. This was the only duet they performed. Steve Gaines was the other singer- he was also killed in the crash

They were great. I was there for the Oakland show. Crushed when the accident happened. But still groove to their amazing music to this day! I love seeing their music live on with the younger generation.

Original Skynyrd has such a large catalog of great music in such a short time! By far my favorite rock band of all time! All of their music had the same commitment, maybe a different sound, but the same commitment. All great!

Steve Gaines with the vocals and the guitar work was changing Skynyrd. He joined Skynyrd in May of 76. Sadly, he would be gone a year and a half later. Skynyrd forever. ✌️

LS was one of the best live performing bands ever. They took great pride in that. Steve Gaines the one playing guitar and singing with Ronnie, was the only one to do that. He was New to the band. Unfortunately one of the ones who died in the plane crash. Thanks for sharing the reaction. 😊

They were headed in such a positive direction, adding Steve to the band, getting over their demons, then the darned plane crash took both Ronnie and Steve. I saw them in 1987 on the Tribute Tour. It was great but still was not quite the same as having Ronnie and Steve. On the tribute tour Johnny Van Zant, Ronnies brother did a duet with guitarist Randall Hall for this one. Randall had replaced Allen Collins who had been paralyzed in a car wreck. Ed King came back and took his spot in Steve's place on the Tribute Tour.

Skynyrd. The band who curb stomped the Rolling Stones at Knebworth & stole, The Tongue! Skynyrd caused the crowd to go so crazy that the Stones wouldn't come on stage until the whole crowd had calmed down! GODS bowed before Skynyrd

Bands of this era, were the beginning of today's popular music, it was people bringing their own sound. That why almost every thing is called rock no matter the sound

You are this old ladies new go to guy for classic revival. Check out Janis Joplin's live performance of "Ball and Chain", Styx, either "I'm Sailing Away" or even better "Renegade". Try the "Average White Band". Yep that's their name. So many rabbit holes to dive into when it comes to great music. "Beastie Boys" if you haven't already heard them. Thanks for giving me a place to listen and watch you learn. Love your approach to music.

Why can't they play and produce music like they used to? It is possible, right? Is there just not a will to do it? I still believe it can be done. I pray the listening public will demand more of the music industry. A girl can dream. Even this 58 year old girl can dream.
