This is proof that there is NO HOUSING CRISIS it's the fact that the rent costs are astronomical for very little space. Couch surfing is risky too because all it takes is for a nosy neighbor or building superintendent to rat out informing the landlord & now the tenant is in trouble. Maybe live outside the city & commute from Long Island or New Jersey as you wait for a sweet spot in the city. This is tough. Hopefully you find an apartment you like if you haven't already.
