As someone who plays almost exclusively gacha games in the last 4 years or so, I've noticed that so-called 'gooners' aren't much different from wokesters regarding affecting the game itself. Both of those types of people will do everything to sacrifice the game's integrity to get what they want. See Snowbreak and how they even removed male NPCs from the game, not allowed to appear in story anymore, so many retcons etc. People immediately see fanservice and think, 'this game isn't woke!', but there are far worse problems in the 'gooner' community that majority of people aren't aware of.

To be fair as a programmer I could definitely see a bug being accidentally pushed with incorrect mathematics for easing the model transparency from 0-1 based on the camera position. The transparency feature actually exist because of a character called ben bigger, he's a big-ass bear that almost cover the entire screen when moving the camera while he moves, the transparency feature helps solve that. I suppose that's what happened here, it then, mistakenly applied to all characters.

hey, actual active zzz player here, I being playing the game since release, characters in free roam mode always had turn semi transparent from full under the skirt camera (and any angle that put them too close basically blocking the view), you just had to pull the angle a little further to look at their assets, the last update increased this effect making them completely invisible from full angle and more transparent from a little further and they reversed that in the hot fix to let it as it was before, people are just realizing this now because now all the agents are available for free roam mode in 1.4 update, I assumed the initial change was for optimization (not censorship, they are not stupid), since this update I'm not having fps drops anymore in combat with some agents due to ether bubbles explosions too close to the camera (very common with Nicole and ether bangboo), now the bubbles completely fade visually when the camera is too close to them making it more clear visually in those scenarios and keeping the visual effects away from the camera

To be fair, it might have actually been a bug. They've been slowly adding the ability to use the characters you pull for during the free roam. This new big patch, they added everyone, and that includes this big bear called Ben, who probably needed extra "fading technology" or else you couldn't see anything. Maybe his setting got transferred over to the other characters by mistake. Still, this is Hoyo, who put the underwater underwear on Genshin characters. Who knows

When Genshin came out this stupid fading out censorship wasnt in it, but they added this same 99% fading filter when you look at characters from a low angle. At first is was just a normal file in the game folder and people have realized if they deleted that file, the filter stopped working and they could enjoy watching their characters from whatever angle. If Mihoyo themselves didnt care much about censorship they would have just left it like that, because they fulfilled their obligation to the (chinese) law to censor and it was the peoples choice to delete that file. BUT NOPE! A few versions later they hard coded the censorship into the game and made it so that if you deleted that file the game wouldnt work anymore and went into auto repair mode where it downloaded the missing censorship file and thats how it works even today in Genshin. So they are strongly pro censorship for sure!

Corin requires you to walk forward partially and stop for maximum appreciation for the work the devs put into modeling. Also if you just download mod that removes transparency completely, you don’t have any issues, so now a char like Rina can be appreciated for the hard work the devs put in. Granted I believe if I recall, you have to turn off volumetric fog or it lags for some reason, maybe it’s fixed by now, i have not looked.

This was clearly a test mainly on the players part to see if player base play and enjoy the game for it's lore and core part of the story and characters rather than goon over all the waifus(and husbandos). And the results was obvious leaning towards the gooner part. It's like that one meme: I play ZZZ for the enrich gameplay, story and world building with these fun characters. You play ZZZ just to see jiggle physics and look up Burnice skirt. We are not the same.

@@vileluca But for how long did you played it? Some of the new gacha games don't have the problem of old gacha games where the gameplay is just bad. Those new gacha games have good gameplay. But the problem is that those games are supposed to be played for far long the single player games and the gameplay doesn't evolve at all with time. So end up becoming boring before you hit the 20 hours gameplay mark of traditional single player games.

It's not censorship; this is a gacha game with a lot of different models, and some of them are quite large. They needed to adjust things to ensure they didn't look bad during combat. The issue was that it was overdone, but now they've fixed it.

Free roam as characters are a new addition and because Ben a bear furry which has a large body is also an option the camera angle was adjusted so that he won't block the screen and affected all the other characters. This being a censorship doesn't make sense because there is no change in combat and character menu which is the place where there is fan service before this update. Also those same characters as NPC in the over world doesn't have this. But it doesn't change the fact that a lot of people got mad and they had to change it quickly because there is still a few bugs that aren't fixed.

Its not nessesarily a censorship thing. Its often a camera thing, a lot of game devs dont want the character to take up to much camera space so the player can see whats going on. It happens in tons of games
