Relocation the oil cooler is one of the best things you can do to the 6.0, also there is no way that turbo was spooling. And remember the 6.0 in the eseries chassis comes detuned to try to keep heat out

I used to be an operations manager for a school bus fleet. We had a number of the Type 2 (small bus) busses built on cutaway chassis. They never have a large enough tranny cooler and we used the spec our new orders with oversize coolers. Trust me on this. Without a large cooler and mostly driving stop and go, those tranny's will only last about 50K miles...just out of warranty... Any time we received one that they blew off that spec, our mechanic would install the cooler and we would back bill the vendor. Trust me ... When you are dropping a few hundred thousand a year on new vehicles...they reimburse you pretty fast.

That Exit on the roof is a vent UNTIL you turn that knob. Then it will completely swing open. Back in the day when I was in school we would open the vents to scoop in air. They work well

I actually owned a similar bus for a while. A slightly smaller ex-NY state prison bus, which had regular doors on both sides up front. Because it was a prison bus it had long benches down the sides and no lights or anything. It was a 99 GMC with a 5.7 gas engine, so basically it amounted to a van with a high top. I didn't keep it long because Thruway tolls are by height and it was four inches over the Class A limit. Paid $1000 or so for it, flipped it for $1600 and it went to Baltimore, then I bought a '95 G30 for $500.

I have the v10 version of this van, in a larger box truck form, it will move down the highway fairly quickly. I've done 80 with it loaded, maybe even more. I will say it does accelerate like my i6 jeep zj, which is nothing to be thrilled about. I also have it at a higher GVW. Mine is also better maintained and not as abused, so there is that. That spray bottle cooling system is a great temp repair when you can't get a proper repair at the time.

Jared the Ford Chassis under that bus is pretty much the same under 1.5 ton car wreckers, but 3,000 lbs heavier than a roll off bed. The front end is either an solid I beam redesigned to use ball joints rather than king pins or the heavier version of a the Twin I beam with the same weird ends- I think the BJ's are the same part #, IIRC. About the BJ's- you started it! The Twin or split version will handle better within the first 3" up or down travel from ride height- the solid is, well, it's a solid, heavy chunk of iron; if the left tire goes up, the right tire tries to go down; not ideal. Put ball joints in it, check the steering tie rods for bad ends, and have a front end shop that has good knowledge of the Ford solid and twin I beam axles set the ride height correctly- 70+% of all Fords with those front ends are out of kilter for ride height a year, year and half off the floor- and it matters- tire wear, braking performance, steering stability all are negatively effected by poor ride height, the Twin I bean more so. Think about how a tire moves up and down- with equal length a arms the tire will not change camber bounce to jounce; with the Twin I beam, the tire is vertical at ride height, but it is a plane with it's center projected to the opposite side frame rail- about 30"- so the tire cambers in at the top at the top of travel and cambers in at the bottom at the lowest travel. If your tide height is wrong, the tire is not fully in contact with the road- it is wearing and rubbing on the inside or outside and you usually get a tire that has the shoulders worn of in squiggles around each side. It will make since when you see it- It was a fancy, but cheap way to make an independent front end that could live under a working truck- Ford ran with it for over 50 years, all the way up to about mid weight wreckers and chassis. One of the chassis real flaws was the transmission- some years used a Ford HD with OD, mfg by Mitsubishi, IIRC, that was over $2 Gs to rebuild, $2300 new and lasted about a year or two under wreckers, tradesmen's trucks and vans and buses. You've seen this turbo by another mfg- I won't bore you. The AC is much the same but way overworked- maybe adding the sort of rear cabin aux AC from the Windstar/ Transtar lines would do better on the road. FR

The handling reminds me of our vacation trip to the USA in 2012. We had a class c RV which was based on a Ford E-450 with the Triton V10 and it handled just as bad as this bus 😂 It seems that there are rubber bands between the steering wheel and the front axle.

Love eat thing you two together. On that roof hatch that is buzzing if you push the bracket up in the back it will snap into the up position . Then you can line it up with the slot in the lid and latch it back. The buzzer is just a ground circuit so if you can get to the wire on the hatch you can cut it. The hatch has a switch along with the rear door and probably two of the side windows.
