I've watched his play in Europe and in the defense of the sports media he wasn't this beast of a scorer back then. He was more of a pass first combo guard. I think it's more of a team philosophy thing where his coaches in Europe forces him to prioritize passing over scoring, while in the NBA they tell him to do whatever it takes to win. just a theory though it is also very possible sports media and nba scouts focuses too much on NCAA and ignores the euroleague.

His greatest asset is something that doesn’t show up on film like elite athleticism and elite shooting. It’s his mind, and I’m not just talking about his off the charts basketball IQ. He has the same mindset as guys like Jordan, Bird, and Kobe. He takes everything personally and absolutely relishes the high pressure situations. It’s like being down 2 with 3 seconds on the clock is his happy place. Some guys have extreme confidence, but the truly transcendent players just know. Luka just knows.

These "experts" totally disrespect basketball skills -- shooting, dribbling, passing, court vision, etc. 🤔 Well, with Doncic you're getting a 6 ft. 7 in. 240 pound version of Steph Curry or Steve Nash. A guard who can handle the ball as well as anybody in basketball but who is so big and strong that he can bully power forwards at the rim. Suns drafted Ayton at #1 and he's turned out to be an above average center at best -- not a franchise player. All the teams that passed on Luka made a huge mistake.

Besides all the virtues everybody is pointing out in the comentaries about Luka (High IQ, great handling skills, vision...), I love that he really enjoys the game, like a kid, pure love for the game. Yes, he is competitive, but like he was playing in the street. I've only seen this pure joy for the game from Magic, and from Messi amongst the greatest team sports players in the world. Both of them were pure competitors, but not with the assassin look, and making up some stories in their minds to increase their "hate" against their future rivals, like MJ and Kobe did. I'm not saying this trait makes him better, but I love it.

Imagine having the Slovenian national team as a head coach and instead of drafting the European goat born from Slovenia that was already European champion with your own head coach coaching him Imagine all of that and still drafting home boy from Arizona And not even let me started on the kings lol

True, but they generally don't have that explosive acceleration shorter people do and need time to hit their stride. That's not a problem on football pitch but is on basketball court.

I remember that years ago people thought that Larry Bird didn't run, he didn't jump, he didn't have the physique to face the huge players who played at that time, but there he was shooting, passing and dunking when he wanted, Luka takes the same path , I wouldn't be surprised if he made his team NBA champion

This humble fan sees Luka's game most distinguished in his long-range sharp-shooting, his brutal passing skills, and ball-handling that looks like a shell-game.

Luka made those sports analysts look like clowns! Including Chris Broussard, who I really like! They compared him to Ricky Rubio and he ended up being compared to Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, LeBron James, and to Dirk Nowitzki! Fun fact: Luka and Giannis have said that it's easier to score in the NBA than in FIBA competitions! So, dear Americans, don't ever make the same mistake of looking down on international basketball players ever again! Luka, Giannis, Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, Pascal Siakam and the list goes on!

Lukas “lack of” athleticism is the most overstated thing ever, literally just because he’s European/white.. Most of those analysts at the start were speaking based off their own racial preconceptions.
