Is hookah truly bad for you? Let’s find out using recent research and apply logic and common sense

The smoke is the bad part, not whatever tf you were talking about with the nicotine burning temp
@leeadler42216 ай бұрын
Smoke is made up of a variety of compounds. Some of the more nasty ones are only produced when tobacco is burnt over a specific temperature. Sarkis is just illustrating that shisha is heated at a much lower temp therefore some of those nasty compounds are not produced. Safer doesn’t mean safe.

I believe the question we should be asking is “is it even smoke when tobacco doesn’t get to a burning point?” After all, Since something isn’t burning it cannot be producing smoke to begin with. letmegooglethat.com/?q=burning+point+of+tobacco Tobacco needs to reach 1200°F before it is burning. What you see as “smoke” is not smoke at all but rather the vaporized particles of the vegetable glycerin and flavoring. Ergo, well over 95% of the toxins, carcinogens, and so on found in traditional tobacco use simply do not exist in hookah smoking.

@@leeadler4221 precisely. I would never say hookah is healthy, however evidence shows that it’s not nearly as damaging as cigarettes or traditional tobacco smoking

Good Research! I always doubted the research as a Cigarette affects my stamina way more than a Shisha session. Moreover a Cig overshoots my blood pressure too.

Great video. The claims that shisha produces more tar has never made sense to me just from what I’ve seen. If that was true I’d imagine the inside of my stem would be covered in tar or my base water would turn brown after a session. You took it step further and showed the shisha doesn’t even get hot enough for it to combust to produce that tar.

I wonder how hot pipe tobacco usually gets. Of course this depends on the smoker and what kind of tobacco you're smoking (English blends tend to smoke cooler than aromatics), but pipe smokers are always stressing how important it is to smoke cool. It seems like cigarettes have ruined smoking for all the other forms of it.

Burning point of tobacco where it’s lit is around 1200-1400°F, on average measuring the entirety of the inside of the cigarette is 900°F letmegooglethat.com/?q=burning+point+of+tobacco

Lungs wanna breathe air. It probably is better than a cigarette or even vaping, but still it is better to breathe fresh air. The body is a temple, look after it. But, I agree, they really ought to do some proper studies
@SarkisAlexander6 ай бұрын
In the same way that the body doesn’t want McDonald’s, the body doesn’t want unnatural substances inside it. I’d be willing to bet that the air in metropolitan cities like LA, NY, Beijing, Hong Kong are worse than inhaling hookah “smoke”. But yes, I’m thankful you got the point of my message: proper studies must be conducted so that we can understand better and make better decisions regarding what we consume

Chemist here…….you’re taking a tiny piece of information and trying to mold it to what you want it to mean. 🤦🏼♀️ I’m sorry, but you’re doing what so many others do, and it’s dangerous to anyone that believes you with no evidence. Maybe try a college course before you try to act like a scientist online for clicks.
@SarkisAlexander6 ай бұрын
I respect your position as a chemist and you’d be right. However, the fact is that hookah tobacco never reaches burning point at all. Once we have more research to pull data from, we can apply it to what is actually happening inside the bowl and without making outrageous assumptions by incorrectly comparing it to a burning medium and transposing the results as if they are equivalent
@user-pt1cz4ot1e6 ай бұрын
@@SarkisAlexander it isn’t the temperature alone. I appreciate that you see that there is very much a difference in the chemical characteristics at different states, but that doesn’t mean reactive chemicals don’t present at even room temperature. You can cause changes in your own DNA with raw, unadulterated tobacco on its own. You don’t need to burn it to do so. Do what you like for yourself. I enjoy smoking hookah myself, and smoke marijuana daily. Doesn’t mean I’ll tell others it’s safe to do so in any form. That’s the dangerous part. Seriously, though. Absolutely take those chemistry courses. You’ll likely find out that you want to be that person running a study. Maybe you’ll be that guy to make a huge breakthrough. I had to get 2 bachelors, 2 Masters, and a PhD before I even felt like I had a clue about the things I work with now. Not even slightly joking. You’d be shocked at the things that draw you in once you start those deep dives.

Hello, allow me to paraphrase for you: since the tobacco doesn’t get to a burning point it does not release nearly as much of the toxins and carcinogens as cigarettes do. Therefore it’s exponentially safer to use. However it still isn’t something “healthy” for you, per se

Yes, but the proof is in your voice, I'm gonna be honest chief you sound like a smoker just by putting a little extra effort to speak each word, it just seems to be more difficult for you to speak, and you sound raspier while also having a nasally pitch. I'm guessing it's drying your throat out or coating it in something that makes it hard for oxygen or air to be processed, causing irritation, worsening ability to get oxygen intake and carbon dioxide outtake, more infections or chances for infection, as well as common symptoms related to lungs, and ENT (ears, nose, and thoat) being inflamed, or irritated. I may also be off, and your natural voice may just be that way, or you're a bit baked and relaxing your muscles in your mouth too much, or you're recovering from sickness. Putting shit in your lungs is not a good idea 9/10 times, and it's not even directly related to what you're smoking or the materials, it's the method in which it's done that's unhealthy.
