The easiest way to help piece together the ending is to think of it like this: There are 3 demon sects (Teshet: House of Immolation, House of Invidious, and House of Desolation) and you can imagine them as all being "lesser-demons". All of these lesser-demons are trying to find a LIVING human host, so it could use it's full power. Audrey (Raymond's mother) is a demon of the 4th sect (Feniskakram). (During your last video, on one of the papers in the secret room with the lore, That 4th Sect is depicted above the 3 other demon sects. Indicating that it's a hierarchy, and that the 4th sect is basically royalty when it comes to demons. They are basically along the lines of the princes of hell, or you can simply call them "greater-demons" and Audrey is possessed by one of those demons. Raymond uses the skin from the Greater-demon/prince as a form of protection from the more common lesser-demon houses. He tattoos it onto his chest, and during that cutscene, you see the demon shriek in fear because it put it's hands on something considered "royal". (No - This doesn't make Raymond a demon, or royalty to demons, he simply has the tattoos comprised of a royal demon as a glyph of protection incase a situation such as this ending, ended up happening.) Also - Possessions in that world seem to be pretty common. Those demons aren't there trying to rescue that royal demon, they're selfish, and want to get their hands on their own living hosts. Plus Raymond admits in the tape that he was starting to get possessed himself, and we also know that demons seek weak-willed people to try to take over, and Rebecca fit that description well due to blaming herself over her father's death. (At least up until the point where she was able to talk to him after giving the necklace).

I would disagree on the part that his mother "is a demon of the 4th sect" or whatever. As I said in the previous video, the sigil Raymond tattooed in his chest with flesh and blood has the sigils of Leviathan and Lucifer, although slightly altered by the devs, but clearly taken from those. That's how Raymond would still be protected by lesser demons - because he carries the symbol of Leviathan and Lucifer, two Lords of Hell. No human being, nor any being capable of maintaining a corporal form, could carry as much energy as an entity of that size. That's why only lesser demons possess people. If I needed to take a hint, I'd probably bet at a demonic pact or something like that - not that those things actually exist in the occultist world, but that's not like the devs are going that deep anyways. But I don't think it will be a pact, anyways. Unfortunately I can't understand very well the intentions of the devs for the plot because I try to understand with real occultist knowledge, and the ends don't meet, like: why a demon would be so freaking angry and vengeful? The only answer is: because of a betrayal... Did Raymond make a deal with a demon and then betrayed him? Eh, who knows...

Well sounds about right or even close BUT; I think Audrey being one of the "Greater-Demon" is hinting us that audrey's demon was trying to posses Raymond but he got it on control and trapped her thus allowing him to use the greater demons flesh as a warding tatoo to protect himself due to lesser demons are not allowed to hunt the ones who got marked by greater demons targets due to class hierarchy. Since then he is slowly chipping down Audry's demons body and in the cutscene she told him about it "it wont last forever.." "after all you are down here begging for more scraps.." and the fact that she kinda got decomposed and semi cut means its not the first time raymond had to refill his tattoo which is implyed in the cutscene that they dissapear once a lesser demon is banished by the sigil due to tattoo's power. The fact that the lesser demon was scared was the reason that he was marked by Audry's greater demon and hierarchy think.. So in the end raymond got no Blood supply or even if he somehow gets a lesser demon , due to accidents he will run out of body parts to tattoo while trying to protect himself or rebecca or others.

@@KindRaiDeR Yup, exactly. She even says "Another already!?" "Poor baby... You're burning up".... Then goes into the "Backup after backup"... "You're such a prepared little boy..." And also the: "Awful lot of missteps lately Raymond", which all points to him relying on her flesh more, and more it seems. She's been possessed this entire time. I think for more than 30+ years, so the fact that she says "Awful lot of missteps lately Raymond", seems to imply that out of this entire time, and all the assistants he's lost, he's been making more mistakes/questionable decisions as of recent. Definitely excited to see where the story goes if Insym was correct in saying that the new game they're working on is related story-wise to this game, and get some more answers/lore to see what else has happened, and why Raymond has such hatred for his mother. It either seems he had a bad childhood growing up with her, or that the possession is the reason he hates her, which if it's the latter, that kind of seems pretty crappy. Because any time the demon mentions Audrey, and that she's "still here / still in here", and that they're going to make her suffer endlessly as long as they're chained up, he always has a remark such as "good". There seems to be some real hatred for his mother.

​@@Baallerith All good to disagree/have different view points on things, although from what I read, I feel as though I may have still made it over-convoluted? But I didn't mean his mother is literally a demon - and a royal demon at that, just that the Greater-demon/Prince/Lord that possessed her is part of the sect that is above the other three sects: (Immolation, Invidious, and Desolation) and in a sense, is considered royalty to those lesser-demons. Even when the priests tried doing that "exorcism" on Audrey during the tape recording in the secret room, the demon possessing Audrey burned the same symbol into the back of the bible, (Which was Feniskakram or Feriskakram - Couldn't tell if that 3rd letter was an "n", or an "r".) Plus that same symbol was displayed behind where Audrey is chained up, and all the dialogue between Raymond, and the demon possessing Audrey indicated several times that her flesh or "scraps" were the thing protecting him, and she made it sound like he's been using them more, and more frequently. Seems he's been having a lot more close calls lately. I believe the devs are just sprucing up their own version of it. I don't believe it's going to really be similar with real occultists knowledge, and all. You mentioned that only lesser-demons possess people, but as shown by Audrey it seems to be possible with higher-class demons from the sect of Feniskakram. (Unless I am missing a piece of lore from earlier in the story that is completely eluding me right now.) I believe the Devs are just taking a more Hollywood approach to the story, and how the demons act/behave. Which is why Vallery, and Audrey's wild Demonic mood switches, evil laughter, and vulgar language seems to take heavy inspiration from the movie: "The Exorcist". Which in my opinion definitely helps bring out the atmosphere of the game, and helps give that sense of urgency, and focus which is perfect for all the jumpscares, and horror events they have in place. Which is why I don't think they're trying to be realistically similar to actual occultist's beliefs/knowledge. The pact thing could be interesting though, as it seems pretty clear via the dialogue between Raymond/Demon possessing Audrey that Raymond seems to have a hatred for his mother. Such as when the demon says that "she's still here", and that the demon is going to make her suffer an eternity however long they end up being locked up for, and Raymond always says something along the lines of "good", and during the attempted priests exorcism on Audrey, there's a part where Raymond says: "You've taken enough from me! Burn in hell!", and the demon replies with "She already is!", and again Raymond's response is "Good!". So maybe there was some type of pact where he essentially tried to get rid of her, or put some type of curse on her, and it ended up going awry. Either way, it's interesting lore, and I hope they add on to it more.

@@Baallerithif I remember correctly, the symbol of the 4th sect is carved above the mother in the secret basement. That’s why I think it’s safe to assume the mother is possessed by a demon from the 4th sect which is higher in hierarchy (from Raymond’s notes and drawings). I don’t know how true to demonology this is, but this is just conclusions from the game lore. Also, the fact that he uses the mom skin to carve the tattoo in his chest and that’s what scares the lesser demons is another hint that the mom is in fact possessed by a higher demon.

Maxed out haunting slider reminds me of that episode in Sponge Bob where the Dutchman is staying at SBs house trying to scare him every minute. At first the hauntings are scary, but he did them so much that Sponge Bob gets bored and tells the Dutchman to hurry up cuz he's got stuff to do.

Agreed, these are definitely jumpscares done right. None of the jumpscares are accompanied with loud sfx or music, and none of them are in-your-face kind of jumpscare, because you could miss them if you don't pay enough attention and if you do, it'll definitely get you because you didn't expect any of them. Most jumpscare happen to relieve the tension, but I think in this one, it adds to the tension.

My prediction. We might be able to play as Raymond. He has 4 markings. When the demon was banished, one marking was burned off. Him tattooing a new marking is filling in the one that was removed. This might be akin to him having either 4 lives, or 4 charges to ward off demons.

It's probably not four charges, only the marking of the correct lesser demon house burns I imagine (the fourth and most important one being permanent). Leaving a blank spot while said demon attacks again could leave Raymond vulnerable, which also why he probably has to immediately take a "scrap" or piece of skin off Audrey's vessel, the tattoo being only really effective if complete. It's like having an armored front door with a lock that not even the LPL could lockpick, but one of the windows on the side of the house was left wide open by mistake, any burglar would use that one. Or rather a demon would use that opening to possess a being.

It’s definitely an experience at 10x. I do think in a way the original is a spookier because you don’t know when it’ll spook you so you’re anxious the whole time. But 10x is great for a player like you that played a lot and got all the endings for a new experience.

Although this is the last update for the main game, the dev said in the steam discussions that they plan on doing DLC in the future for the rest of the story. For now, they'd like to focus on other games. I kinda wish this update was more conclusive though. Because now we're left with this cliffhanger for a loooong time.

The father slipped climbing from a rocky area by the beach. Likely Rebecca and her friends went to a spot that had high rocks creating a private spot to do their dr*gs out of visibility of other beach goers or police. Sadly when the dad found Rebecca, it's possible that she was drowning because the tide was coming in (often those places become submerged at night) and he rescued her, hence her coughing in that scene. He likely called emergency services who likely also sent cops since it would have been a drug related incident. But him being wet from saving Rebecca likely caused him to lose his grip on equally wet rocks climbing out to flag the cops down and...he fell to his death.

Raymond basically marked himself with the royal demon mark on the chest, using flesh of the body the true demon currently possesses. He‘s therefore basically off limits and cannot be possessed by the lesser demon houses anymore. As far as I know, the lesser demons simply enjoy torturing humans and only spawn in the mortuary where Raymond works because it is A) easy for them to posses dead bodies and B) close to the true demon, making the tether between the realms thinner or something. : )

This is getting buried but i think it's based off possession. The lore video Insym watches, Raymond states when he gets possessed he gains consciousness back in random areas and doesn't know how long time passes. So I'm guessing the more possession events you interact with causes possession to increase rapidly vs normal gameplay time.

my theory: The markings on Raymond's chest are defensive markings that banish the demons back to hell once they make contact. in the new ending, the demon makes contact with Raymond's chest and banishes it back to hell, consuming one of the defensive marks. Which is why, Raymond is seen tattooing another mark on himself to replace the mark used. Audrey is currently being possessed by a demon that is too powerful for Raymond to banish back so he is researching the demons and asking for help from assistants to get data on the sub-demons that are searching for their demon leader(Audrey). All of the marking around Audrey are there to keep the demon stuck inside Audrey so it can not posses anyone else. Oh and he needs to use the flesh of the giga-demon as the ink in his tattoos in order for them to be powerful enough to banish weaker demons.

The other demons mention getting their "prize". Makes me think its a competition of sorts. Whichever of them frees the super demon, their superior, is going to get rewarded. Maybe that's why Valerie's demon gets you to banish the other one before freeing her, as she won't be able to win vs Rebecca if she is already possessed. Plus, its probably no coincidence the demons keep attacking: perhaps injecting bodies with demons blood helps them come to this world, which Raymond uses to get rid of them, or whatever else he is doing.

My opinion; Raymond is possessed by a greater demon, but keeps it under control with the tattooed symbol (which also is above Audrey's body to keep the demon from destroying it like the one the that Rebecca let out). He has to use the blood/skin of a demon and Audrey is the back up incase his blood supply runs out, hence the comment it makes about a lot of mistakes lately. The demon that attacked Raymond damaged one of the tattoos when he tore his shirt, letting the demon come out out enough to flame/banish the lesser demon, but he has to redo it before he loses control (as if he could hear the end music playing), which is why he doesn't have time or want to explain it to Rebecca. On the VHS he states that he used to love her, but does not as his own possession begins to grow, which would also explain the end when he says good to his mother being tortured for eternity.

There's actually a better event than the body that walks up behind the computer.... There's one where the demon is looking at you over the top of the computer and is much harder to notice. It's just like all of a sudden you notice a face looking at you from over the screen. I only had it one time when I was looking at the computer for hella long then all of a sudden, I noticed it.

I think people in the chat are right, the time running out and possession increasing is a factor of how many haunts you experience. Since you turned the slider up, you'll experience more haunts, and naturally the time will run out. The unfortunate thing about that is that it means there's probably a somewhat set number of haunts you can experience in any given run, but I'm guessing it's sort of a randomized number within a relatively tight range. And it's probably based on which stage of possession you're at, which selection of haunts it will pick from, which is probably why the more intense ones tend to happen later in the game. It does seem like there might be a timer at the very end though - I don't think it's necessarily going the whole time, but the music definitely seems to kick up at the end and stuff, though from watching several of your runs, the timing seems inconsistent. Sometimes it seems like it'll take forever (like the first time you tried to get the ran out of time ending), and sometimes it'll happen way too quickly. It's unpredictable.

Has anyone confirmed whether or not lowering the Demon activity lowers the chance for signs of demonic tenancy to show in any of the bodies? I played a couple times with the slider nearly set to 0, and no matter how much time has passed, no demonic marks would show up on any of the bodies, and I couldn't see any movement that'd show the signs of possession.

One of the haunts Insym has yet to see, is the white lady appearing in the bathroom mirror, and then crawling out, Ring-girl style. It's one of the best new haunts imo. Being stuck in such a tiny room, and a nasty ghost crawling out towards you, nowhere to run.... it's awesome.

**apologies in advance - I am always nervous with 's in an english as it is not my native language** Theory follows -> How about this.... You see a mark of a Über Demon up above Audrey, and as you can see three marks going down from the same mark on Raymond's chest... what if these marks represent his relatives or distant relatives. Then the last and fourth symbol would be beneath these three, as a strongest of them, only these three combined can bring the Raymond down? Mark 1 - Audrey - sister Mark 2 - David - brother Mark 3 - Rebecca - 2nd sister's granddaughter I do not recall the exact story, but what if they are all relatives (or distant relatives), Rebecca's grandma could be also a Raymond's sister... after she started a family and somehow missed all the demonic boogaloo by the Raymond, or ran away ASAP - imagine she was none the wiser, but now she has some demonic taint - since we see a hallucination of her via Rebecca. What if granny encouraging Rebecca to take the job was already a demon playing a "young and naive Becky" - as she is "always being played, always someone's servant". Rebecca already being on thin ice, dealing with the deaths of her mom and papa (which the demon(s) killed - via drugs, bad company, what have you) to undermine Raymond's hold over them. Could it be, that Raymond felt, that Rebecca had the needed strength/will, to finally banish the demons hunting him and his family? She was - after all - clever enough to find closure for her father, and all the other souls calling for help. And since Raymond dismissed her demands of explanation it would make sense to me... I dunno... it's kinda making sense to me...

Classic overly sensitive youtube, forcing creators to blur content because everyone likes to think the internet is supposed to be some safe space. We need to go back to the early 2000's when everyone was told the internet has a lot of potentially scarring or dangerous things on it and to be cautious. Remember when trigger warnings used to be only on TV for seizures and now it's on nearly every video/post to protect millennial's feelings. Pretty cringe.

The Fake Ending is the one you get when you burn a body without doing any of the embalming steps. It's much shorter than the running out of time ending. You still get locked up in the basement, but with Raymond not saying a word, just glaring at you with disappointment.

I really love this game because it deals with fighting actual demons and your inner demons which can sometimes be even worse, I'm an ex addict in recovery 5 years clean and the way Rebecca has worked hard to rebuild her life including starting a new career yet she still deals with massive guilt and trauma everyday it's so realistic and true & I appreciate that the devs wrote such an honest and lifelike character 🖤

Sets the slider to the max, and quickly assumes that he will be possessed quicker on this new difficulty. Then spends about every other moment looking at random things and not trying to finish as quick as he can. Then when he gets possessed he gets all surprised Pikachu face lol love it

This is how i understand the questions you ask the first one i also have why cant the demon leave Audrey and attach to someone else the second one i think the demons are scared of the ultra demon, raymond has its mark on his chest, also he has the skin of the ultra demon on the tattoo so that would explain the reason why the demon got scared of the mark. This might bw wrong but this is my opinion of understanding the ending.

You can identify the body which is possessed early. When the door starts banging, go and look at which one it is. If it's all doors then leave, if it's single then that is the possessed body. This works every single time. Try it.

It seems the demons are drawn to Raymond because the "ultra" demon said that he couldn't hold them off forever eventually there won't be any more and he'll be dragged to hell and the demon that we see attack him only get scarred after it's hurt by his tattoo when it scratch at his chest it only damages the clothes not his skin and there are embers(red glowing pieces) coming off from the attack so the tattoo is for defense and attack seeing as he kills the attacking demon and how he reacts when the "ultra" says the longer he keep it the more his mother will suffer make me wonder if the reason the demons are drawn to him is because of something she did possibly even what caused her to be possessed in the first place

Perhaps the shape of the tattoo is a binding ritual to keep the original demon within Raymond's mother. Other demons keep trying to possess people working at the mortuary to find a way to free the mother. Either by killing Raymond or finding where the mother actually is. Raymond adds runes to his tattoo when he 'defeats' a demon, like he does in that ending, which grants him protection against those specific to that family of demon, and repels others, if only to scare them by letting them know he's a 'demon hunter'. Unfortunately, the way the cutscene goes, it makes it sound, and look, like Raymond has no other empty slots for protection sigils, and if a new demon, not currently marked, attacks, he may not be able to repel it the same way, meaning he would die, and the mother would be freed. This might be why he uses assistants instead of doing things himself, in case he has to expend his protection slots. It may be the 'final update' but there's still some unknown lore that might be dug up if we search far enough.

Just spitballing, but from what I can tell, it may have to do with the state of the body the demon(s) possess. At the end, Valerie's demon makes a comment about the flesh it is tied to being weak and rotten- and it seems to imply that it is being held back or restricted by that rotting flesh. When the demons possess Rebecca however, they get a perfectly healthy new body to inhabit, which could explain why it's more powerful. Though, of course there is also the fact that when you run out of time and get possessed, the demon inside also can't seem to get out of the box, sooo... I dunno. Maybe, magic box? Maybe magic box.

I will never understand YT logic. If they care SO MUCH about mental health, then this game should be banned by them. For so many people death is the most scary and terrifying thing ever and causes depression because of the fear of death itself. And this job is creepy af. I´ve worked at as a mortuary assistant myself and it´s not very comforting. And even playing or watching this makes so many people super uncomfortable. The Dev just made it more uncomfortable by adding this whole demon shit which makes this job look way more pathetic than it actually is. I mean...adding religious stuff is one thing...but claiming that this is all based on true events...I can´t believe how many people fall for this.

Your thinking that Raymond is a POS speaks volumes about your lack of critical thinking on this game. The man is fighting the very demons of Hell all alone and cannot do it forever by himself. He sought out help (read & listen to all of the lore) and no one he reached out to could have helped to stop the demons, but can only delay at best. Those that didn't "make it " like Vallery, are unfortunately used for their blood and skin to continue the fight against Hell's houses of demons. Their sacrifice is what helps you to survive in the game. This former junkie, Rebecca has nothing else going for her, and this gives her purpose. Yeah, she didn't volunteer for it, but it is what it is. Her father even tells her to help the dead to rest, and she gets closure with forgiveness from him. Can you name a better purpose for her? Watch the movie *Demon Knight* from Tales From the Crypt and you'll see a similar story.

So at first I thought the little fire that appeared that got rid of the Little x on his chest I thought those were lives like every time he gets attacked he lose a life but now I think the x disappears is basically braking the shield he created using his mother's dead remains that's connected to the more powerful demand like it's actually protecting himself like he's creating a seal to prevent himself from being possessed at all or stoping him from being possessed easily or the little x is allowing him to use the power of the stronger demon so imagine if his mother is Satan and all of the other demons are trying to either take her power or release her that would also explain why they're afraid of the seal because it's as if they attacked him not knowing or assuming he was possessed by Satan him self so it's like finding out your boss was in disguise and you just tried to kill him. At least that's what I think is happening
