Apparently some of the weird names (like Tony Pizza) came from a competition when the initial beta was released... Something about getting your name in the game if you were amongst the people who managed to beat it the most times in the 24 hours the demo was live or something like that

I think the name comes from a reddit post about someone’s boyfriend calling her “Tony Pizza” as a nickname and her hating it. Someone must’ve thought it was funny and did what you said to get it into the game lmao

So, from what I gathered, the mom and the dad got together while addicted. The dad quit at some point (likely after Rebecca's birth?) while the mom didn't and eventually OD'd. The dad doesn't die from the fall, but drowns after falling into the water (after he hit his head, which incapacitated him).

I'm sure someone has stated this already. But her dad was also an addict. The coins were his 5 and your ten year sobriety coins. Which is why you give them to your hanging self. Which leads to the good ending. Your own journey to sobriety kept you from giving on and life and hitting the ground to hard on minecraft like your mother. The journey was seemingly possible mainly due to your father's ability to get sober, and you feeling an overwhelming guilt of your own addiction being the cause of his death. Absolutely ecstatic you did another full playthrough so soon. I love this game dearly

Back then, two coins were laid over the eyes of the deceased - payment to cross the river Styx. By giving these sobriety coins to a hanging Rebecca, it's a symbolic way to say "I was sober. Dad was sober," and let that guilt and drug life finally die.

I really love this game as an analogy for substance addiction. Raymond is her sponsor, as he was the sponsor to his previous "assistants", but they all ended up falling to the "demon" to a point where he couldn't help them anymore. Pretty powerful stuff. Makes me wonder if it's written based on experience.

I was once able to glitch out the Grandma event; I stood up and ran through her and she was just crouched on the ground like Golum stabbing at nothing. It was great! FYI the tapes Raymond made can get corrupted. When you replay them later you can hear random demon dialog.

I just checked and they said this game is getting a movie adaptation, or at least being planned for a movie adaptation from my understanding, there are demons lurking around the mortuary. The demons then kept binding themselves to Rebecca because of the lingering negative feelings she has from her past (her father's death).

This is a great idea!! And considering how close this game is to the reality of a mortitian's job, I would love to see a library and the work of the librarian be portrayed by these people! As a librarian, it's usually either disappointing or straight up insulting to see how people portrait us in media (you know, the good ol' strict lady in grandma clothes with reading glasses and her hair tied into a knot? almost looking annoyed and shushing at people for existing a bit too loudly?) I would love the mortuary assistant developers to make a library based game with a young and just... normal librarian as the protagonist. Showing the actual work in a library, so people realise that we don't, in fact, just sit around and read books all day.

On the first run, the correct body was the one that appears on the event at 53:05 At least on all my runs, everytime there was a scene with a body standing up, sitting at the gurney or smth, that was the chosen body. Also, when you can hear the door open and closing repeatedly in the cold storage, that's also the chosen body!

The jumpscares are THE BEST thing that have ever happened in 2022, or even in the past few years! It's so subtle yet sudden, & the great thing is that it' none of those cheap "in your face" kind of scares, which is really awesome. Not to mention the replay value of this gem since the jumpscares are random aside from the story progression scares.

Rebecca's mother OD'd then she ran away from home and ended up on the same mess of things. It was after her father's death she tried to sober up and get her life together.. Also I love watching this game. I thought about picking it up, but moving internationally is insanely expensive.

Would really be cool if the developer did little story segments as time went on…honestly it would be cool to get an ending that has Raymond being the actual true demon this whole time and you can save Valerie and eventually in one of the endings have the demon truly defeated and each play through is just doing the minor demons.

I feel so bad for her mother too. The reasons people get into drugs, and then stick with them at the expense of all other relationships, are often tragic. It does wreak havoc on your loved ones but figures like this are often tragic villains in the stories of loved ones that choose to cast them as villains. Unless they were despicable people beforehand, of course. It hurt to hear her father say that her mother "gave up on life" because that is often the result of the drugs and the circumstances and mental illness they can induce.

So, I'm pretty sure that the deal with the possession is that the bodies come into the mortuary all in one lot (three at once) and one of them already has a demon inhabiting it, which its able to do because the body is dead and therefore doesn't require the same kind of effort/rituals as possessing a living body like Rebecca or Raymond. Neither Raymond nor Rebecca have any way of knowing immediately which body has the demon in it, and since one of them (whichever of them is working that night) is the new potential host for this demon, they need to forcefully bind it back into the body that it arrived in (the dead body) so they can burn it. This is why the letter from Mr. Salah talks about the blood of the possessed and the body with signs of tenancy with some confusion; he's assuming that they're the same, but in order to embalm, you remove all of the deceased's original blood (also, there's no way of knowing if the dead person was possessed before they died or the demon just inhabited their body afterwards, which may affect whether their blood can be used anyway), so for the ritual that Raymond developed to work, he has to replace that blood with the blood of another possessed. I don't know if he ever tried using the blood of someone who was about to be possessed, or if he just assumed it wasn't a good idea to leave that kind of thing to chance. But he really does need Valerie, or someone fully possessed that he can drain of their blood, in order for his banishing ritual to work. The demon also may have come from anywhere; it's possible they're hanging around/attracted to the mortuary, but they could also be coming from other places.

One thing you can also do to confirm if ashes tell you the thing you could cheat in more ashes and matches also the one thing that I'd say is most scary is the one where it drags you from the body room to embalming room or from embalming room to body room cause you can actually see yourself get dragged and it's so violent aswell it's not like a small slow drag it's just like get the fuck over here I'm gonna do something you will always remember

I totally get not understanding people who want to be morticians, it’s not a job that everyone would like. I thought it was a good career path for me, but I saw a corpse two years ago that changed my mind on the subject. It wasn’t the first corpse I’d ever seen, but it was an incredibly creepy experience-I went with a widow to see her deceased husband, and there was a long room with the coffin at one end and (what I considered to be) creepy lights. I decided that I would prefer to work on preserving older bodies, especially because the emotional toll of that line of work can be a lot! I’m much more interested (and comfortable) with older dead bodies (think mummies, bog bodies, that sort of thing), so I decided that I’ll be going to college for paleo-anthropology, and hopefully specialize in preserving corpses of historical significance so we can all look into humans of the path. Mortuary fun fact: There are plugs used to stop bodily fluids from leaking out of a cadaver, and they’re pretty gnarly.

Good play through this game is terrifying and the storyline and the writing is very good it bought these two characters to life . it's funny how you blame Raymon for everything when Rebecca came in with her own demon"s because of her upbringing and her early drug use plus the death of her father these events effected Rebecca greatly . As for Raymon he did not bring the demons in either it was one of the women who did I mean you read all the notes but you seemed that you missed that . Anyway the premise of this game was as good as any A rated horror film or book thanks for sharing .
