I wonder, why is the title of this song Gudetama's Busy Days? Gudetama literally means "Lazy Egg" and is only associated with the pop culture character Gudetama, whose whole thing is being a lazy egg with a butt. And like, I love this song, but wth does it have to do with Gudetama??

according to the wiki, flansy said about the song, "...it is really just about feeling isolated from the world, even if you are in a crowded place and manically trying to keep up with your life. The character of Gudetama appealed to me because he is such a mopey sad sack-he seemed to fit."

it's years later, so if you see this: I think so. They Might Be Giants are cagey with regard to the meaning of their songs, and they like to select words based on sound. Gudetama and Sanrio are popular enough in North America that you see stickers of that lazy egg boy on light poles and bridge railings, and TMBG wanted to evoke a lazy guy, takin it easy. In my opinion, 'gu de ta ma' (or, 'guddatomma', lol) sounds lovely in the context of this song, and I can't think of another name to put there that sounds nice. like, idk, 'the sloth from zootopia'? 'that turtle that bugs bunny lost a race to'? 'me in high school'??
