as a jun main, i already expected these nerfs but dealing self inflicted damage when youre doing a combo or hitting kazama powers is just down dumb. At least retain the same recoverable health when a kazama move hits. Also they should fix the bug where can cans sometimes doesnt CH launch

She also has no real aggression like 90% of the damn cast has.. I understand that she is sabaki and counter play, but she still needs to be viable in a sea of vicious aggressive one button mashing characters otherwise Harada's so called balance direction will not work.. Really hoping June 1.05 helps her tremendously bc plenty other characters who are far nastier than she is. She needs better recovery or quicker moves with better priority or something. I'm suffering so much bc I'm a character loyalist...

Jun barely was cracking top 10 if even that in recent tier lists by pros. Tournament results couldn't be compared to other top tiers as well. After these heavy nerfs. She took a heavy hit. She better be getting some nice buffs next patch.

At the very least if your doing a combo, the amount of damage you do to yourself should scale down for each health draining attack, or some sort of a cap on health loss when someone is being juggled.... Punishing me for doing a combo input (CORRECTLY) is just such a bad direction idk,

personally, I'm doing my part to bring her usage rate down simply by not playing her. not sure if that even helps, because bamco's balance philosophy seems to be based on twitter/streamer whaaaambulance vibes rather than actual stats 🤠

The Jun nerfs are unjustified IMO, no Jun is untouchable. Her nerfs are a crutch to those who don't know the Jun MU or just hate Jun. They could have made her light launchers specifically B1+2, 1 -10 on block to mitigate just throwing it out for free. Adjust the frames on block, and either revert the health management system, make miare heal regular health or remove her self damage completely. I get a character being powerful but it isn't like she get to throw her launchers/projectiles full screen. Tuning down is cool, but this hurts the character more than you think. It'll be overlooked because potential character bias/prejudice.

Let's also not forget her launching throw out of crouch is slower too at 14 frames. I can take some permanent health loss as a punishment for having the moves blocked, sure... but on hit? Shouldn't the player be rewarded for landing the move and the opponent can comeback by going for the recoverable health? This really feels like a lazy nerf and she's gonna be hurting hard from this.

Tinfoil time: They gutted Asuka on release so people would play Jun. Then Jun gets massive nerfs at the same time as Asuka gets an incredibly powerful move. They're at it again trying to dictate to the playerbase. Then in the next patch perhaps they'll even them out balance-wise.

@@cairax23 It's clear that the devs want to see certain characters succeed at the highest levels and dislike it when the ones they didn't choose come out on top. For example Harada was incredulous when Rangchu's Panda won the big one and she was immediately nerfed. DLCs are always overclocked on release because they want people to pay for them. They're normalized later - in time for the next one. In this specific case Jun hasn't been seen for a long time. Newer players especially have no investment in her. Meanwhile Asuka has her fans, especially in Japan. So how do you make her successful? Make her easy and overpowered, and cripple the character she is most comparable with on a surface level. Now they want the new Jun players to try out the alternative Kazama lady before letting them actually choose. Likely neither will be terribly strong in the long run though since they aren't the devs pet characters - like Feng (Harada's main) the Mishimas (as per balance lead MishimaStar's bias) Murray loves Muay Thai and we all remember release Fahk. Get ready for that mess all over again by the way.

Everybody who didn't play her complained about her "heal smash". But she pretty much lost all of that health from self-damage. You could debate whether she should be able to get it back, but it fits the concept of the character, so why not? I think they should have just divided the heat smash into two moves, the original move, but minus the healing, and a new move that have just the heal.

Yeah people just yelled and never took the time to understand how risky she is to use. Most characters are easy to mash and get rewarded for. I chose her because she takes work, but now she just down right has nothing to contend with other overperforming characters who they didn't nerf enough imo or straight up didn't need buffs at all. 1.04 was a bad patch imo. 1.03 was better. People need to quit bitching so quickly and actually study shit. So damn aggravating.

Primarily they need to undo her taking unrecoverable damage. Idealistically I'd rather the Kazama power not take any health but just be punishable. Also her db3 lows into 3+4 extension needs to come back.

She doesn’t play like a normal tekken character and hasn’t been in tekken since forever ago. People got salty and whined without going in and learning the matchup. Im no professional, but I know how to go in and test what works and what doesn’t smh. She definitely is NOT broken or overpowered like everyone made her out to be. Hell you don’t see her being used in high level tournaments bc she’s too risky and most would play Lars or Drag or someone who can guarantee them an easy win for the money they’re trying to win. IMO : I don't think there's any reason for this kind of nerf. Jun's win rate was around 50%, neither the pros nor the average players overpicked her. (Not like eddy or jin) Jun was not even close to the top 8 at evo or any tournaments at pro level. She is one of the fewest character in God of Destruction rank. So instead of fixing characters who dealt exceptionally high damage or by pressing 1 button and get destroyer rank. She get nerfed without any reason with the combo fix life lose. (Her burst and the amount of heal nerf is okay , it was too strong i agree.) I think it's stupid to get fixed damage because I'm making a 70-80 damage combo. Or then make the "kazama" powerless moves USABLE. Her 10-11-12 frame punishes are weak. Only the kazama powers were a "little scary" now she will get bullied. Some characters can spam +++ moves without any consequence of course without life lose. I feel that the reason why Jun pokes people's eyes is because the hit effect is bright when she gets an extra frame at the cost of her health. Other characters, it is not so spectacular, so average players do not cry so much about it. (microphone dropped)

Pre-nerf Jun wasnt even seeing any pro players representation and wasnt even cracking top 8 at tournaments, was also a rare character to run against online, as strong as she was, nobody played her for some reason. Dunno where all this "Jun is OP, she top tier" agenda came from or who started ir, but there were more busted characters before and there are now than she ever was. Hopefully they stay true to their word and buff her next patch, cause it is so sad seeing such a pretty and fun character being in this sorry state. In the meantime we have to endure damaging ourselves when landing our combos with no way to get that health back :) ...

I feel like they specifically wanted to nerf df2,1+2, but they didn't know how to exactly, so they just made all of her kazama power moves hurt herself as a general "solution" It's a very lazy way to balance things, so I hope they rectify some of these changes on the next patch. At the very least, she should not hurt herself when she lands hits, and she should not hurt herself at all in heat imo. I'd also welcome a fun change like have her Miare stance heal real life, but we'll see what they end up doing.

I feel like it's more of a character depth thing. Jun in order to use her "devil" power, she has to hurt herself. From a lore perspective, I love that she takes damage when she uses her abilities. To me, if all of the moves that do damage to her, also deal the same chip damage to the opponent, that would be balanced. You get the reward if they hit, and it's closer to a wash on block. Albeit recoverable. Which gives her the small "nerf" she needs to be as strong as she is. I don't like cookie cutter Tekken, I hate it's moving towards every character having every tool.

I agree that it is a bit too much nerf to her health. Perfects are basically impossible now. I like your idea for fixing it. I was thinking they could’ve just increased the chip slightly out of heat and then in heat it would revert back to the old amount. That way it’s still possible to recover some as long as you land the hit. Maybe a combination of that plus your suggestion of no damage on hit would be good. The heat smash change I think is fair. Honestly i think all heat smashes should be less trackable so we can punish them. Same with heat burst. I think she still recovers the old amount if the heat smash lands tho.

I think this change would’ve been fine if she wasn’t killing herself in her combos. Think the best way out of this is for her to somehow have combo routes that don’t cost health but that’s probably too complicated to be realistic.

I do agree the heat smash needed to be nerfed. It shouldn’t track at all, but do I disagreed with the unrecoverable health nerf. I think they did it way too much. They said she was gonna get buffs next month, so till then, I’m still playing my main. ✌️

Good suggestions. I actually switched from Jun to Asuka before the patch but I still enjoy playing her. I hope they roll back some of the self damage nerfs. The gen ff2f, 2 would not finish the animation/damage sometimes if you landed it at a weird angle or closer to a wall.... Maybe they made it work now?

The heats match I guess it’s not that big a deal long as the first hit you should be good… and they did reduce the amount of recoverable Health on the heat smash. It’s ridiculous. They should’ve kept it the same unless they blocked it.

I don't really understand BN. Azu getting nerfed was not surprising since she was one of the Golden 3. Drag did get nerfs, but I want to wait to see how they pan out. However, they went harder on Jun than they did on Feng. I agree with Fergus that her spamming her safe healing moves needed toning down. This was way too much.

A character that deals damage to themselves is pretty unique (like Zafina) and encourages a certain playstyle (especially in a game about aggression), it's better to exaggerate it than it to be subtle for readability. Also losing health even when you don't hit encourages not whiffing, forcing you want to throw out less pressure, that's what namco's design goal was I believe. The whole e-sports competetive aspect of Tekken are making people forget these are games first, so you have to make a character fun/interesting as priority. Winning shouldn't be the only priority...

Since you asked this is what I think : I agree with you that self inflicted health damage should be recoverable grey health when she hits. This is what should be changed in the next patch IMO. However, let's please remember that she was borderline broken pre-patch and her moveset is still strong ( pressure, damage).

Heat smash definitely needed to be nerfed, no question. But they basically made Jun’s heat obsolete by doing this, only thing she has going for her while in heat now is heat dash or the Jun gun which you need to place well now, which is fine. But the biggest beef I have with this how everyone now has a feature in heat except her, and it’s really lame. Even if it’s not much health she’s losing, this isn’t right, it’s not - I’ve never heard of this in my life. And to top it off she’s stuck like this for a month or so while there are characters who haven’t even been touched. Imma remember this…
