I don't mind "clone" keycaps for sets run as group buys. The designer and vendors picked their business model and sold all the keycaps they wanted; they maxed out their profit. I'm more than happy to jump on a round 2 or wait for another run if a designer hints at the possibility of it happening in the mid term but if there is no other viable option, I have no problem with buying a similar color way item that is causing zero financial harm to the "original" designer. Now, if vendors started spending their company's money to keep (wildly popular) items in stock instead of getting interest free loans from their customers, I might feel differently.

I mean, you can't copyright a color palette outside of it pertaining directly to your brand or assets. If Akko wants to take the time to design their own keycap set and use colors that are similar to GMK, then that's just how the free market works. I personally don't see a problem with buying "knock-offs" or the GMK sets. I have both in my collection.

I appreciate the honesty and detail of the review on all the products. I think this should be modded and revisited. Pretty much anyone looking at this kit or the similar gk61xs is going to be looking into different switch plates / silicone / switch lube. I'm not sure if you have reviewed the software, but that seems to be one of the major complaints on these boards.

I also think it really doesn't matter if keycaps or switches are 'clones'. I don't see anything unethical about buying clones over the originals. It's really difficult to berate these manufacturers for producing knock-offs when GMK prices are $400+ aftermarket with GBs taking YEARS from production to consumer. At least these knockoffs allow consumers to have a variety of caps.

Them GMK stealing our money out right.Just recolor and sold it for 150$ just for the base.250 for all. While doing some shit job with there double shot which look horrendous from the bottom. I'm not saying you should go bought the fake.Even recoloring take time But the value for the money on their keycap has decreased alot, specially with the long ass waiting time. Just treat your self to what you like.don't mind other people( especially them GMK nerd and enthusiastic Redditors ).You know where your money is going and you happy with it.Thats all it matter

You should check out the NK silk series (reds in particular)! The factory lube is actually pretty decent and at ~$0.50 per switch it's a great low-mid tier option.

I purchased this board a while back since it was the only 65 with bluetooth and hotswap currently available. The Aliexpress seller, Vincent, is awesome about making changes though so i got a slightly different pcb and an aluminum plate allowing me to use pcb stabs! As for the underglow RGB there is a secondary rgb strip connection you can add that makes RGB diffusion MUCH better. All in all i think its a decent entry level board

Gk68xs was my first nice but still cheap custom board. Just got a brass plate for it too from AliExpress. Just waiting for it to arrive. Curious what you think of it and if it comes with underglow RGB. Been considering getting this in acrylic or the tofu65 acrylic. But nothing looks as nice as your id80 crystal. That and the think6.5 v2 are both boards I want for polycarb case but missed both groupbuys for them :(

I just bought a GmmK pro, gateron cap v2 milky switches, durock v2 stabs, and some cheap white xda keycaps w/ Japanese characters that I’m probably gonna replace soon with something cooler before too long. Everything is supposed to be here in like a week I’m super excited to build this thing!

I use VScode and other ide's so having the tilde key is something useful to me plus setting up the different layers is nice... Really wish I had more layers and more options like setting up combinations keys like shift+arrow_up for a specific function within premier pro as example and then I should be able to switch over to lighthouse, or after effects, or UE4, or blender and be able to use my layout for my workflows instead of owning multiple keyboards like any normal person does... 🤣🤓

Can you mod it? Put the board in a metal case, plycarb plate and some yellow switches or black inks if your bold. It’s literally my first build that’s coming in 3 week would love to see what you can do with it, and make it even better, as you said beginners are not waiting 6 months for stuff and this is what we have, thanks, love from Europe.

I got rid of cherry interference by adding some thin red silicone o rings in the middle row and it got rid of all issues and because of the type of silicone they don't feel mushy also they are so thin they don't make the keys high

I have 3 epomaker boards. Their factory lube on the stabs is awful. I tried removing it and relubing with proper lube and they are actually pretty good after. It was a pain to remove the lube though so i won't do it again.

If wrist rests hurt then you should try the wrist rest from the razer black widow elite. It’s not pretty but it extremely comfortable because it uses (probably fake) leather and foam. I don’t know if you just get the wrist rest but that’s the only place I know to find it (if there’s different models of that board it’s the one with the 3 multimedia keys and a scroll thing I forget what they are called.

Akko makes some great switches i have the rose and ocean blues and they are smooth, i also like the font on the Akko neon better than the GMK laser set, but as for this board I'll pass i just got my GMMK Pro and I really like it with the lubed hippo switches

@@lukehTM they are great super smooth and the low travel distance and low spring weight make them perfect for fast paced gaming, i lubed mine with 3204. I would say they the roses are just slightly more scratch than tangerines but have similar smoothness at least with 3204 i have not tried 205 I'm sure a thicker lube will make them smoother

me listening the sound test: Those are some real good stock stabilizers, wish my shitty unlubed cherry platemount stabilizers sounded like that (they don't sell it in turkey, wonder what they use for the spark plugs etc). hipyo goes on to roast it... I'd recommend getting a switch testing kit. I got one off of amazon that had a bunch of gateron and some zeal switches. I'm new to the hobby as well and switch testing kits were highly recommended from what I found
