I actually really like my Cherry silent red. It's good for a budget board that won't sound good using the regular enthusiast grade switches, as the case will really hurt the sound profile. Having that silencing property and some additional lube make them feel and sound alright. Definitely going to step up to a full custom board later though, but that cost money that I can't really just throw around. The thock will have to wait, though it will be worth it.

I got a DasKeyboard that I've been using for about 4 years. I recently decided that I wanted a wireless one with clicky switches and a numpad, so I ordered a Keychron K4 that comes Thursday. I know they aren't supposed to be *as* good as they were, but of all the options I could find it seemed like the best bet. I'm a little concerned about the fact that it's for my work laptop, which goes through a grub screen because when I installed ubuntu I left Windows as a boot option (and have never used it) and I might not be able to navigate the grub screen with a bluetooth keyboard - but I'll see if I can configure it to automatically go into ubuntu unless I override. Basically I wanted to be able to kick back, put the keyboard on my lap, move it around, etc, without worrying about the cord knocking stuff around on my desk.

Love the channel! Actually just bought a Keycron C1 because of you. As a 20+ year programmer I'm just now getting into the custom keyboard market. The real issue for me is "where can I find switched to touch and test?" That's the main issue for those getting into the "hobby" and kept me from starting for so long. I finally decided to just buy one and start figuring it out for myself. Your reviews and information are outstanding but a sound test through crappy internet audio doesn't really help me get a feel for those keycaps and switches. So until these components become more common and I can go to Best Buy and try everything out I think the market is going to as scattered as you mentioned. Give it about 5 years and the big companies will take notice and start having those kiosks at Best Buy and it will really explode.

In the same boat of been programming for about forever and just recently getting into more custom of a keyboard besides a Rosewill cherry mx blue special that I had for 8+ years. I really believe 65% layouts are the way of the future for 90% of consumers. I think as these smaller custom keyboard companies become more prevalent our ability to get custom parts will become much more consumer friendly. I don’t think the large companies will be able to keep up which is unfortunate but at this level of customization it’s not necessarily a bad thing either. Edit: Tactile gang (Boba U4T)

A year or so ago the YT algorithm recommended Glarses to me. I was just taking my first steps into my woodworking hobby. I already had a cheap mechanical from amazon (Royal Kludge S108) because clicky and nostalgia over childhood school computers (1990's IBM's). Recently I ordered new key caps as the ones that come on the RK S108 are these flat rounded type writer style. Nothing wrong with that except that they are bordered with a plastic chrome ring that will crack and fall off. New caps helped improve the sound but at that point it was too late. I had ordered a keyboard with little to no research, just wanted a tkl for more desk space and a hotswap pcb. I'm waiting on a massive switch swatch (what I call it now thanks to my wife reminding me about make up testing) and ceramic key caps. Then I'll probably place an order for switches, maybe some new stabs and lube. I'm succumbing to the thock rapidly.

It's probably still worth nothing that this is still a rather small sample size skewed towards modern keyboard enthusiasts. I know I'm a rather peculiar minority who may be into building lubed MX keyboards on the side but ultimately still daily drive on a Unicomp Model M full size with the huge bezels. Full size and vintage clicky AF are still king for me, and I know that there's a substantial number of people into vintage keyboards who predominantly like clicky full sizes too, who just don't engage with this side of the hobby. I think there needs to be more interaction to get a real balance of what enthusiasts would like to see from mainstream companies.

I actually don't have much preference between red and blues, so I just ordered a keyboard with Cherry Browns. I just hope I don't end up disliking it.

I'm surprised silvers aren't more popular. I've used blues, reds, browns, and just got a keyboard with silvers in it and the lower travel distance is really nice.

I will always love Cherry MX Brown and probably always choose to use it because I never get tired of them, but every so often a nice sharp MX Blue has the perfect click

I've always "watched" this during my workouts, so this is the first time I've actually seen Betty's headgear changes per fact LOL

Cherry housing are like sandpaper without a very good lube job. I actually like the clears to be honest. I like the heavier feel of them. I think they sound a bit better too.

I just want to say that your hard work will pay off. This is probably my favorite channel on KZbin right now. Very calming, very down to earth but still high production value. You guys are doing great!

Can confirm, the redragon keyboards are pretty good, been meaning to test but pretty sure you can use switches other than outemu in them, can't see any difference between the legs on them or a cherry or kailh. The outemu reds browns and blues are quite satisfactory, just wish they had more options.

Thinking of getting the GMMK Pro and modding it with the Panda switches. I stay in India and it takes light years for cool stuff to reach shelves here..so let's hope for the best!
