I thought I had tried every cocktail product imaginable but I was at the liquor store one day and discovered cocktails in a box, so I had to pick them up. I am glad I did because one of these boxes surprised the shit out of me.
We used some interesting bottles this week and if you are interested in trying them head over to Curiada - bit.ly/h2dbottleshop ! They have lowered their prices 5% - 15% site wide and as always you can use the code Howtodrink to get free shipping on any order over $199.

@@Astares9 it's beer infused with milk because Japanese alchoholics were having issues with calcium deficiency and there was an excess of milk at the time. The concept of beer and milk itself isn't _that_ weird, like rootbeer floats exist, this is just a step beyond that, but the concept of buying canned milk-infused beer is a bit weirder than someone deciding to mix the two on their own.

Many parts of a pine tree are edible, depending on the species. First off, pine nuts. That’s self-explanatory! But, depending on the species, you can also eat baby pine cones-it’s traditionally made into jam/syrup. Pine tips, the new growth at the end of a pine branch that usually shows up in spring, is also used to infuse a lot of things like alcohol or syrups, and even older pine needles can be made into a tisane/tea, though it doesn’t taste as good as tisane made of new needles. It was even a remedy for scurvy, since pine is naturally high in vit c. That said, some species in the US are poisonous, so don’t go picking and eating things you can’t properly identify. It’s also not recommended for those who are pregnant or nursing.

As someone who loves their tea and coffee without milk, I love my bitter Negroni. When I making them at home I even kick up the bitter notes with Punt e Mes. If I make them for friends they hate it but I love them. Given the amount of alcohol, I don't have them on a work night, so it's my, "ahh. It's the weekend", drink so I have emotional attachment of it. That said, another reason why I like them - is they are just so darn easy to make. I wouldn't bother with a box of them. Plus I sort of play with the ratios a little to suite my tastes and amount of ice I want (living in SoCal - I tend to go a little heavy on the ice, so I use little more vermouth and gin compared to the Compari).

Agree on your Negroni comments. I was invited to an afterparty at an Expo, a company was trying to schmooze up my buddy to buy their product, and he got us invited too. It was at the lobby bar of the Hyatt Regency here in Orlando. Buffet of Salmon and Prime Rib, kind of party. And everyone was handed 3 drink tickets. After not many people arrived at the prepaid cocktail party, they just gave everyone as many tickets as they wanted. "This is my chance to really try new stuff" I order a Negroni. They have to go to the other bar across the resort to get some Campari. I take my first sip..... I don't need to order a Negroni again.

So with negroni here's how I picture it. I get home from work, want a cocktail and don't want to mix one. Why what do we have here?! Not just a premixed negroni nay! A whole box chilled in my fridge! What a treat. Drink one or two before I sleep and the day is complete. However the first time I tried a negroni I was 22 had no idea about anything honestly drank old fashioned (thanks how to drink) and a bar tender suggested it. I loved it immediately.

You know a drink is going to be bad when Greg's eye twitches and/or his whole face just collapses.

The Beatbox ones remind me of Varm och Kall (Warm or Cold) that I had in Sweden. Also in a box! And it's this mystery cinnamon(?) mulled wine that tastes kinda like a weird pie and is supposed to be drank, you guessed it, either warm or cold.

The best thing about any boxed drink is the bag inside. Once you've emptied it, you're hammered and have no idea where you are, you can inflate the bag to use as a pillow.

When the beat boxes came out I was instantly beset by overwhelming fear and glee. Went to a party where I was made to play movie watching drinking games with beatboxes and it was one of the most traumatic flavor experiences of my life

A lot of those boxed cocktails are made with wine (or "other-than-standard orange wine") so they can be sold in grocery or convenience stores in states where distilled spirits can only be sold at liquor stores.

That's beginning to change some places. It was kind of a big deal when the convenience store chain I work at a distribution center for started selling whiskey, vodka, etc in Iowa.

Here in Nova Scotia, some local distilleries have started boxed option, neat to see from a relatively small company. Not over the top great but nice and easy for the summer like you said.
