20 years ago my dad played TR4 while I sat beside him and watched, he'd let me press buttons here and there but after a bit he gave me the controller and told me "why don't you try and play the game by yourself"...it took me nearly half the day just to get over the tutorial section but I was so proud that I managed to do it by myself, that was the moment I fell in love with the games and I've played all of them since, I'm even doing a 100% run of the remastered trilogy right now to get ready for the next remasters. But at the end of the day the thing I'm excited to see the most is my dad play TR4 while I sit beside him again.

I played them all during my younger years. I was around 12 when I first played Tomb Raider. At first, just playing around in Lara's home. But then I started to play the game. I was garbage at the time. But came back when a lil older and better at gaming. So many good memories playing TR 1, 2 and TLR. I didn't really like 3 that much. Can't wait to play TLR remastered. 🙂

My Dad gave up playing video games with me after the Mattel Intellivision!! Ironic that he HOGGED that back in the day, then years later (to this day) bemoaned video games as "the worst thing ever invented"!! But yeah, the Remaster... On it now myself, final battle of the first at the Great Pyramid with a tiny bit of health... resisting the temptation no matter how many times I have to reload, having not used a single Medi Pack throughout!!

@@JediMulder24x Oh yeah that one's a headache to do I even paired it up with the hand guns only run.... here's what helped me the most and it's also a good preparation for New Game + (you'll have to do the entire fight without healing too) First phase: The moment you enter the arena natla spawns from the left upper corner and 90% of the time she gets stuck in the wall if you stand by the entrance and not approach her, she'll stay stuck if you keep your distance than it's just about jumping sideways to avoid her bombs....the only issue I've noticed in my recent runs was that Lara would not lock on unless I got really close and that would get Natka unstuck but jumping from side to side still works even if she gets close Second phase: The strategy is also the same jumping from side to side is also the best bet at surviving, if you do it right she'll only hit you like once maybe twice max and that's only if you time it wrong...if you get the rhythm right all her shots usually miss I've currently finished everything in the first game + the bonus round and now I'm finishing up the second game next run I'll be doing both only hand guns + speed run trophy

All the classic Tomb Raider 1 - 6 hold such cherished memories for me, as a child I would watch my mum play this for hours, it would bring so much joy, I loved trying to figure out how to progress, I can say The Last Revelation was a very difficult experience. I cannot wait for the remasters. Especially The Angel of Darkness 😊😊

Not sure if anyone else got this, but the TR4 trophy 'I hate it when these things do that!' when the mummy jumps out at you is actually a reference to the GREATEST film of all time, The Mummy (1999) with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz! Absolutely loving all the little references and easter eggs in the trophy list. It gives the impression they've really put their heart and soul into this one with some acknowledgment of how a lot of people actually played the games and the cheeky tactics people used, same as the did with the previous remaster, rather than just generic trophies like 'kill this' and 'do that' that make it feel just corporate. Makes me very optimistic that AOD in particular is going to be not just a remaster/redemption, but also a love letter to the original games and the fandom🥰

Not sure what to think about this, honestly they all deserve full on official remakes in the original engines - not just remasters. 4, 5 and 6 were all the product of a crunched and exhausted dev team, this could be a real opportunity to fix some glaring issues. I hope they at least let you skip Von Croy's tutorial monologues.

Tomb Raider The Last Revelation is my all time favorite Tomb Raider Game. Its huge, it has a million puzzles, It has lots and lots of backtracking and its in Egypt. That game alone is worth it for me.

I assume Angel of Darkness is currently looking worse than the original PC version because they're doing a big overhaul and had to remove features only to add them back in, but better. Currently, I'm noticing there are no reflections on glossy surfaces (like in the Louvre), Lara doesn't have a shadow (which was silly and cartoony in the original anyway) and the lighting overall is super flat, with some parts having baked shadows while others no shading at all. I assume they'll add real real-time dynamic lighting + shadows, a new HQ ambient occlusion pass (or even real-time AO), and proper screen-space reflections instead of the wavy and glitchy mess that the original had.

I have to be honest, I'm worried about the AoD remaster, from what they showed, appart from hd textures the game looks pretty much the same, same lighting, same assets, same gatorate looking lava... The remaster versions of Chronicles and Revelations look better than the remaster version of AoD

Y' all know, i'm kinda pessimistic about this one. While the remaster largely enhanced the 1-2-3 trilogy, the games in the 4-5-6 one have fundamental problems that are unlikely to be fixed by a "simple" remaster. The return of content for AOD and the possible fix in Lara's controls might be something to look forward to... But I fully agree that expectations should be tempered. A masterpiece shall it not become, yet it is likely to finally become a game worth revisiting.

I feel like they're absolutely in the pipeline. Those games are already much more modern, so would likely require far less graphical updating compared to the OG Core releases. I'd just be happy to get "Beneath The Ashes" and "Lara's Shadow" hopefully on modern consoles and not confined to 360.

@@jd2792 Yeah, I do recall the PC and 360 versions of Legend were kinda buggy, I think it had something to do with the "Next-Gen" Upgrades the games were given. I never really had much of an issue with Anniversary/Underworld though, guess I just got lucky.

Well, the underworld dlc would be an interesting one. Never got the chance to play them but watched it on KZbin, but be great if they fixed the camera for underworld , and quite possibly would be interesting if they re did anniversary fix some of the pacing issues but for legend never had a problem with the ps2 version

@@nomad6737 Yeah, Underworld I think suffered from a lot of the same things that AOD suffered from, just not to the same extent obviously, they weren't able to fine tune and do proper QA, the fact that they were switching to a new engine and it was the first game in the series being developed specifically with Next-Gen in mind probably didn't help.

I haven't played TR 1, 2, and 3 since the 90's, especially because I've never had a decent PC for gaming. Probably, TR 1 is my fav game of all time. I'll never forget that first time I booted the game on my Sega Saturn, and the months that I spent playing it (no internet, no YT, no video guides, no photo mode to "cheat"), getting stuck because I didn't see a passage or a lever, amazed by the extremely immersive graphics and the stunning music... It was a magical time in my life. So when I get this remaster a couple of weeks ago in my shitty PS4, ER MAH GERR! What a blast of nostalgia! I didn't remember that I didn't finish the 3d one, because its last levels are completely new to me. Also, the DLCs are an amazing addition, but I'd have liked more extra levels, but I think that, for what I've seen here and there on youtube, most of them are fan made mods and I understand that it's not possible. Also, I'd like an extra mode to play the game like in the original version, with that pain in the ass of the save crystals. It's in the game+ but I've tried that sht, and I am not a video game journalist but I'm also not that good lol. That sht is for real men lol. Yesterday I went into the PS store to look for something worth the buy amongst all the mobile bs and the triple A crap, and saw the upcoming remaster for the next chapters. I'm not preordering because I use my brain, but I can't wait.

One thing I'm hoping for this remaster and it was one critique I had for TR1-3 Remaster: I hope they keep things a lil' bit saturated. I greatly loved the enhanced graphics on the first remaster, but in a few sections I felt like the original lighting direction (not the graphics, but the way things were illuminated) was better, and I thought some parts looked a bit better in the original as well with how saturated it was... mainly gold and sand. BUT, that's just a personal nitpick of mine... I'm mostly hoping they'll fix the million bugs that AoD had and make things a bit better to play for TR4 and 5. I can't wait to re-visit some of my favorite levels, like TR4 Temple of Karnak, TR5 Russian Submarine and AoD Serpent Rouge

At around 27:00 that actually ISNT the ps2 lara, its remastered aod lara! You can tell by ber 3D holster straps and the boot grips. I think that specific shot used a later build whereas the one earlier used an earlier one. Konrad did indeed knock it out the park!

Angel of Darkness will be very interesting what they fix. Will they fix the unlimited ammo glitch? Or the Eckard boss fight being impossible to fail? Or a lot of the movement systems in AOD were pretty brutal too. So will it be an actual remaster or a remake?

Obviously we know what to expect for 4 and 5. However AOD is my biggest intrigue (pretty much everyone else’s as well) I’m just curious how it might compare to say the restoration mod. Also I really want to see an actual difference to the graphics and textures, the footage they shown in the trailer looks the exact same as the original apart from the Louvre paintings and Lara’s model. However she looks completely different from one another in multiple shots…I think they’re showing us a very early build of the AOD remaster

At first I thought there wouldn't be any risk for Aspyr for remastering these games, seeing how well they managed to remaster the first trilogy. TR4 and 5 used the same engine as the previous games. AOD looked graphically good, and they'd only have to change the controls, focusing on the PS2 version controls as those worked fairly good compared to the PC version. But I've started to worry because I really think TR4 and 5 still look nice, and I share the feeling with some commenter in the stream that remastering would perhaps wash out some colors, textures, and make everything too bland or bright. I liked that some parts of the game were almost completely dark - sometimes it suited the occasion, others, it just went well with the aesthetic and grim story of the game. Also, I like the remastered model of Lara, but I just can't with her always smiling. She has a pouty and serious face in the og games, grits her teeth when shooting. The new model's smirk kinda puts me off...Also, I think many fans agree that AOD model is superior...her design is timeless and still used as a patch for many games. I also fear they'll take away her dark aura. As for the added content, I'm happy they are willing to put in some extra work, wondering how much it will be? There were some scrapped levels such as Kriegler Castle in Germany... but Aspyr is known for only making remakes and remasters, I haven't seen any game being developed by them. So many questions! I really hope it goes well

😆 I've just realised, for any new fan that hasn't played AOD or watched your playthrough/review, this looks pretty harsh, sassy and degrading! 🤦🏻‍♂️😆

Honestly I think we need to consider AOD as a bonus and just buy this for 4 and 5. No way AOD can be fixed in a remaster, let alone as part of a 3 game package.
