At the 5:00 mark, you see him dragging a buck- golden rule in Kodiak: Never drag a deer. That’s the quickest way find yourself getting mauled by the largest bears on earth.

@@5buddyro One mauling in several years and thousands of hunters, most from off-island (i.e. bear ignorant). Maulings here are extremely rare. Dragging your deer out of some alder scrub so you can dress it out is not going to increase your odds of an encounter. Hyping the bear danger only gets these beautiful animals unnecessarily killed when hunters get panicky during an encounter. Please post responsibly.

@@daveostlund3955 the off-islanders are the ones who need to know the danger is real. I mean it’s a matter of opinion obviously, but before I moved here, being from the east coast and having dragged deer my entire life, I never knew that you can certainly get yourself in a bad spot really quickly if you aren’t paying attention because it was never a thing for me before. Personally I have no desire to kill a bear because I totally agree with you on how awesome they are, so I see it as posting responsibly to teach folks not to put themselves or the bear in that position. I’m pretty sure we’re looking to accomplish the same end goal from two different directions.

@@5buddyro You made an untrue statement. If your goal is to educate the public about safety in bear country, then I say excellent. However, your comment is not based on fact. Again, I urge you to be responsible about what you are posting. I hope it was not your intention, but the way it reads now is sensationalist. The bear don't need the negative press.
