And back in the day there weren't upgrade paths for original owners, if you owned the PS2 or PS3 game you didn't get the remasters for free or a simple $10 upgrade, you had to shell out $40 to $60. This allows people to buy used copies or sales (right now HZD is $10 at Gamestop), and upgrade for only $10.

And she is quite cute, no reason to alter her face after getting her permission to use it. But modern games put too much emphasis on realistic graphics over gameplay. Stylized graphics hold up a lot longer than ultra realistic one do, and they create a far more interesting and creative visual style.

Just going to point out that while the remaster is generally less good looking than the OG (albeit with better lighting), I don't think they lengthened her chin. Looking closely, it appears that the PS4 chin is clipping through the hair while the PS5 chin isn't, giving the *illusion* that it's longer.

Are we sure that remastered pic is from a Remastered version? Not just the face, but the clothing and hair are a lot more detailed in the OG shot than the Remaster shot. In OG shot you can see the grain of the fabric in her clothing and individual strands of hair both on top of her head and even her eyebrows, but in the Remaster shot, you can't see any of it. Either whoever posted this pic on Twitter is having a laugh, or whoever is in charge of updating the graphics and resolution for the Remastered version needs to be fired.

Not enough people talking about this, suppose we are overwhelmed with bad remakes. Remember when they argued she got fat naturally eating or something inbetween games? No she was always fat, fat baby, fat as a kid, fat as a young adult. "Oh but she has abs" My girlfriend has abs, she doesn't have a face like she bit a beehive. Essentially what they did, looking at the models, it's just puffing up the face. Thinner faces have more details, the cheekbones, fatter faces are more round, they just rounded out almost every character, made a detailed, complex face, look like pastic.

One thing I'd like to add. The art style of the world in general, specifically the colours, are so much prettier in the original. They went for the more realistic, natural tones of Forbidden West, but the colours in the original were more vibrant like a painting and gave off more of a fantastical feel because of it.

Most athletic women aren’t the most attractive just like most beautiful women are basically couch potatoes that can do little to nothing athletic at all. I think Alloy looks naturally cute and adorable in HZD. In the sequel, I literally can't stand looking at her face. I know this may sound like an exaggeration, but it's NOT. She literally looks like she has a skin condition like facial eczema, or a sunburn, or something like that. It's not pretty to look at. She looks blemished in a truly unflattering way, and her face looks slightly chubbier too. What I ended up doing was playing the game using a mod that replaces Alloy entirely with the character model of a really cute NPC girl.

I was going through videos about the remaster because I just bought it yesterday, but wow, this is something else. Saying Aloy is "uglier" in Forbidden West is an opinion, not as objective as you said. In all my years playing Horizon, ever since ZD came out, I have not once seen a negative comment about her looks, maybe because the actual players care about good game lore and her deep connection with the world around her rather than the shape of her face lmao. In FW she's grown out of her childlike features, she's not a teenager anymore. She's stronger but still feels like she has a pretty idealized body type imo, they even got rid of her ZD abs to give her a slim waist. Also, a good portion of this comment section is filled with transphobic bs, saying that "they make female characters "uglier" so trans people aren't triggered" like that would mean putting waaay too much effort just to please a minority group when, let's be real, the player base will always be mostly straight men. She might look completely different from the concept art you showed because that's only ONE artist's vision of her and probably before picking the model she has now, it's understandable for it to change when a lot more people work on it. Concept art is one of the first steps in a project, you can't expect the game to look the same from start to finish, it doesn't work like that. This whole video gives me major pick me vibes really. And yes, I am a girl (BORN a girl, before anyone calls me a slur) but mostly a die hard Horizon fan. It's so sad hearing women with a large audience say such hateful comments just to please the general male gaze.
