Bethany and Timothy are an amazing team! They knew they wanted to have a homestead but waited until they knew they would be most successful. Still, they teach their children to learn from their mistakes and not be afraid of failing. From realizing their real cash crop was milk to not want goats, they are loving how they are learning on the farm and how to run a profitable business.

That so hit home about not having any milk for yourselves. We were selling all the eggs so we would have to use serama eggs (miniature chickens) for ourselves. Crazy. We set boundaries for ourselves and luckily found 1 person who buys 30 dozen chicken eggs, 1 person buys all duck eggs plus any chicken eggs over the 30 dozen. Scaled way back on goats we milk so it is just for what we use. Plus like most of your stories we are always evolving. Another great story. Thank you.

Thank you so very much!! I love seeing the solutions of others that have struggled with boundaries. I’m glad you were able to make those changes and continue to evolve! ❤️

Many years ago we had a rock shop next to our home....customers would come up, see the closed sign and come to the front door of our home, expecting us to open the store. Sigh...after all these years, that is the part that drags down otherwise great memories.

Aw. Yes, it can drag down some memories. It can be hard to draw hard boundaries between running a business and living your life, but we all must do it to save our sanity! ❤️

That was very enjoyable and education! They are doing a good job. I smiled at that mess of high tensile wire...that stuff has a memory like you wouldn't believe!! I have a friend who had that up everywhere for the sheep and a horse went through it - coiled back up around her leg and stripped off all the skin. Heard of another person where the animal kicked at another through the fence and amputated the leg. I won't use it at all. Mind you, there is a horror story with it all I suppose. As always Olivia, good job!

Hello again young lady, we call those instances when things like the wire happen a stupid tax, because if we would have done the “right” thing, we would have done the due diligence and researched more. I had never heard the term spinning Jenny until watching Greg Judy when he was putting up fence around his new farm. I use KZbin all of the time, but mostly along the small farm/ homestead lines. They have the success and failure that makes our farm easier. I appreciate all of the stupid taxes along the way. Without failure there can be no success. Do something today to make someone smile. You never know, it might change the world 😀

So great!! Thank you so much!! ❤️ we call it tuition but it’s all the same. Either way, someone has paid for it somewhere along the lines, haha.

Thank you for the transparency. I'm glad to know that about the electric fence before I do one. Now I know if I'm doing something I should go find someone that has done the same thing and ask them about it. Even if I basically know how to do it I can still learn from them. Humility goes a long way for wisdom. Also I may be able to make a friend, acquaintance or business acquaintance.

15:37 yes! I try to make this point often. Self sufficiency is generally not a wise thing to seek. Each of us has special gifts and talents that benefit others ans we should focus on doing those things we enjoy and are good at, and connect with others who are good at things we don't like or are bad at, and through exchange we all benefit socially, mentally, and economically.
