That's actually really valid. Not only did his best tools from Smash 64 get nerfed into oblivion, but by the time Ultimate rolled around... yeah, they barely updated Kirby and introduced noob characters that actually do something. Like, how the hell does Kirby exist in the same game as Aegis, a character that's just as easy but 50,000,000x better than him?

Melee's kind of a weird example, as it was very much a rushed product to fill out the Gamecube's launch window lineup. The fact the game is as playable as it is without as many characters being Kirby-levels of bad is honestly kind of amazing given how little time it had to be developed

The “gg’s that was me” topic made me think of one time, when I used to play Destiny 2 and wasn’t very good at PvP, I ended up in a Trials match against the best PvP player in the world, Panda. What was even worse was he was doing a 2v3 challenge at the time, so we got our asses handed to us even with a numbers advantage. I sent in his chat “gg’s man, was fun to play against you that game, hope the rest of your trials challenge goes well.” And he actually was super chill about it and said I did well, which was crazy to me since I was so bad at PvP most of the time. So yeah that was a pretty strong confidence booster.

I used to play melee at a community centre before Ult came out and I just really enjoyed playing Kirby. The fact that most melee tech skill doesnt do much for him made it easy to focus on the player to player aspect while also trying to make the best out of what little Kirby does have, like using crouch to avoid certain moves, or keeping kirbycide in my backpocket to catch my friends off guard and not ready to mash.

@@Watburnt allow me to explain... *in the long way* Kirby is an experience, that for the easy parts of the game, is catered to newcomers, it is designed to be someone's first game. Then why doesn't it fall into obscurity? Well that's due to the fact of the stories, even more so lore, the beauty in these games, and the difficult extra mode within each game to give long time gamers a challenge. Story and lore are self explanatory. The beauty is always there, just playing the games you can feel all the love and care that were put into each animation, environment, ability and puzzle. Enjoy the music, there's something truly amazing about it. And the extra modes. These kick the game into a higher gear, the difficulty rises substantially. Not to mention the true final bosses, they're difficult enough to rival that of Elden Rings first bosses, *on their own* , the thing about all these true final bosses is that they're locked behind a difficult boss rush of every boss you've fought prior. I could go so much farther, Kirby games are just perfectly hand tailored to fit for everyone, with a cute little pink blob to perfect it. Oh and with you saying that they're hand-holdy, they really aren't, after that first and very short tutorial you're open to explore each level to your leisure. You're not forced to do anything, you can go back to any level if you so wish. They're like any other level progression game you can think of, except that there's probably more to explore within each level.

Yes, hindsight is 20/20, but the dude punished falco with fair which was then followed up by a full dash to full hop nair. I guess he was trying to read a full hop, but you just got a punish with Fair so you should immediately go for kill confirm or try to edge guard (which is hard cus kirby is shit) but if he was in the Kirby mindset, after he hit that fair he woulda went for jab, drill, tilt mixup or grab (despite shit range) anything that doesn't get you shine combo'd to top platforms Sure the comboing against kirby is insurmountable, but since most people only know how to instalock fox where they have the advantage in 100% of scenarios and would 0% if no mistakes are made, they'll instantly blame the shit tier for the death because mid level fox players aren't actually used to looking for kill confirms because fuckin everything they do is a kill confirm. So they'll look at dude dash to miss full hop back air to get combo'd, say "wow, kirby is shit" then return to fox. When in actuality yes, Kirby is shit. That's why if you lock Kirby, you don't play like you're on Jigglypuff with godly aerial drift going for random back airs.
