Oh cool! It uses the Card Hunter "bunch of cards tied to a piece of equipment" approach to deck building. That's a rare one to come across in my experience. I have never been one who enjoys brewing my own decks, it's kind of overwhelming to be honest, but this kind is more manageable to me.

TL;DR = MOAAAAAR! This game seems to me what it'd look like if FTL and Lonestar had a baby. And to be honest? It works. It works REALLY well. I really enjoyed watching this and I sincerely hope you'll give us a second taste, if not a full series. I don't think it'll be able to scratch that FTL itch though: It's far less chaotic and frantic because it's turn based. Still a bloody good game though.

If you want to be harmed Aavak, 5 years ago was 2019 and about 6 months before COVID. Don't worry. It hurt me too to realize that. FTL was released in 2012, I think the mechanics became a mainstay by 2014, so yeah, about 10 years ago now:)

I feel like id be interested in it but i fall asleep to your videos so often that now if im even remotely comfy while watching i end up just sleeping. 13:45 Ok, vertical ships are cool, but this one doesn't look like a true vertical one, or it very much cannot land on any ground in or outside a gravity well (I don't see any landing gear or sci-fi hover propulsion instead). It seems more like a normal ship that is flying vertically at that moment, seeing as there isn't much true up and down or sideways in space aside from relative to other objects, so your rocket ship's nose might not actually be pointed towards the enemy but up from their point of view.

This has a nice story to go with the card game. Which is something that is often lacking with games of this genre. I would be very interested to see more of it.

i tried the Demo and i don't like it first in Demo I run into enemies who fire 12 rockets at me at once, and you have nothing to defend yourself * and when you defeat them, you can't just walk into the repair station, because the station is 10 systems away and with 3/50 you have no chance of passing anywhere * it should be possible that in a system where you win, you can enter the station and repair yourself, it's pointless like this

Yeah.... and we're far from the only people that feel that way. Far too many games lately are relying on being deck builders, instead of using a more traditional game mechanics, or trying to do something different. I've seen a few lately that I had to pass on automatically, just because they were based around cards. This game is clearly inspired by FTL and other games like that, I just wish it did more things like FTL.

@@ZakTheFallen like. I want to *love* Corpsmen or whatever the Frankenstein pokemon game is named, but the deck stuff is just. Uuuugh. At least the Necroking isn't based exclusively around the deck, and there are definitely some games where deck stuff can make sense or doesn't detract from it like say, building games. Could do an interesting thing with a build-your-dungeon type game where the deck is either resources thus determining what you can build, or the rooms you can place. And then add in card combinations to make new cards, and defeating different kinds of adventurers or invaders and such and the cards you can get change with that (or unique stuff perhaps?) And so on.

The problem is that suddenly a lot of developers wanted to make deckbuilding games... and now a lot the games market is over-saturated with them. It was an interesting idea at first, but really shouldn't have be done so eagerly by so many companies.

Same. There are far too many games that rely on the deck-buildings mechanics. I loved FTL, but would have passed on it if it card based. It can be interesting when it really suits the game, but it's becoming all too common for any kind of game to instead be based around using cards. They could have just used a system more like FTL or similar games, no need for the cards.
