People who pay that kind of money are doing so because of the art, the time and the craftsmanship that goes into a piece like this. Beautiful work. I've been suspending burl "islands" in resin for years for clients with only the resin holding everything together and with no flood coats on the top or the bottom, just seamless transitions between timber and resin like you do. I've had absolutely no issues at all with things coming apart. The largest table I've done so far was an $18,000 piece that was 3m x 1.3m with three independent steel legs that went all the way across the width of the table at both ends and the middle so the client could get 10 chairs around it. Your bench uses way less resin and is more than twice as thick so there's absolutely no reason why all of your work wouldn't stand up to the test of time as long as everything is appropriately dry when you make it.

Your attention to detail is awesome. You have been doing this for a while with beautiful results. A concern that comes to my mind- Your close fitting of every piece might not allow epoxy to sufficiently bond the many pieces together as I would wish. Your installing the steel frame is excellent. To help with the bonding thought- I would pour a layer of epoxy in cut outs then bolt frame in place. This would help bond the many pieces. Sorry I rambled. Tom

If you had a *really* big vacuum chamber you could impregnate the wood with so much epoxy that it's structurally mostly epoxy. You could probably make a bench like that without support then. Actually you might be able to vacuum chamber each piece to impregnate it then epoxy them together as done in the video.

That could be done with softer woods, but with such dense wood, it's not necessary; the epoxy would barely penetrate it.
