Nice and very original table, and especially very amusing comments to accompany us along what is already a most enjoyable journey. BUT ... Just a little observation here. I truly think you should have maybe made the joints a bit tighter- with a view to gluing them together first. I'm afraid I find your "epoxied" joints are just a bit too visible. So: Firstly; glue up the jigsaw pieces, having knocked up a glue mixture that would blend into the background wood. Clean up. Only then do you proceed with the coloured epoxy process. I honestly find that the all-too-visible joints detract from the finished effect. Please don't take offense. I'm a seasoned woodworker (41 years experience), and I like to try to give pointers- if and when they are called for. Nice project (I'm sure Ikea won't give you any hassle- they have bigger fish to fry). That spalted Beech is absolutely stunning; it's a bit of mixture between the vegetation and the mineral. Greetings from France.

Beautiful work my man. Don’t worry about critics or people unsubscribing. A fair amount of your comments were aimed at these imagined! critics and it’s unnecessary in my (critical) 😊 opinion. I have maybe 20 subscriptions to a variety of wood workers at various stages of skill. They all teach me something or just inspire me. Usually great editing, clear and close up video with good process description, financial breakdowns are sometimes nice since everyone has a budget. Of course humor and personal connection work in your favor. I’ve seen content creators use critiques from previous videos as teachable moments for additional content or humorous trash talk aka-shut up you’re annoying, please go away. Some content creators pick enemies: pit bull owners, mushroom hunters, Trump haters, jeep owners…add small close knit community of true believers here. Keep working it you’re doing multiple things right, you got the algorithm to reach me.

Thanks for your advice! I use constructive criticism to improve my future videos. It helps me a lot, which is why I ask my viewers to share it. As for meaningless or malicious criticism, it doesn’t affect me at all.I just take it with humor.

Drying "thin cookies" is not easy. It needs to be done as slow as possible. Get the moisture to equilibrium and then put in the kiln. It's also very species dependent. Some woods Crack way easier than others. Conifers should be fairly easy to dry this way but I think you may have done it too quick. Just my two cents. Thanks for the video

A very interesting project, and the result is quite nice. I must say, however, that I find it rather odd that the grain pattern is running diagonally across the ellipse; I'm so much more used to see the grain parallel to the long axis. But then, for some people will find that oddity exactly what attracts them to your design. By the way, chainsaws aren't used more in traditional woodworking because they aren't traditional, at least not for me. I think that traditional woodworking implies no technology newer than that which was common 150 years ago. By that standard nothing you did in this video is traditional, but that's perfectly OK. You turned out a fine table.

@marmotaworks We do have the inchometer, it is called the metric system. Only the US is using the imperial system, which is weird since you foight a war to get rid of the imperials... Anyway, the inch is defined as 25.4mm. Meaning there is only the metric system.

Beautiful work of art. But I have one question: why did you leave the wood voids empty when you could have matched the grain and worked your magic so that while the complete void wouldn't be filled, it would ensure the large areas of epoxy in your final table didn't drag the eye away from the excellent design of your finished table? As it is, I'd give this table a pass simply because the black epoxy filled voids are a total distraction from the beauty of wood.

Yes, it's an epoxy table, but my question is: if you went to all the trouble of lining up different types of wood so the surface look like all boards are in tune and then not do the same for the big empty parts that end up being filled with epoxy? I'm not suggesting the whole wood void has to be filled with wood, but just enough so that the use of the size of the epoxy doesn't drag the eye to them instead of the beauty of the table you'll created.
