because Russel Crowe brought the star power and intelligence to the role and improvised many lines from a 26pg script. Russell could have helped craft the character of his son behind the screen and could have been involved in dream sequences as his character had hallucinations himself in the first.

Bring back old-school “man movies” that celebrated raw, unapologetic storytelling that put real heroes, personal struggles, and visceral revenge front and center. They weren’t afraid to portray flawed, rugged characters overcoming impossible odds, fueled by grit, loyalty, and unshakable codes of honor. Today, the woke formula is pathetic, feels diluted, often replaced with over-sanitized narratives. What audiences crave is a return to that unfiltered style-stories of men wrestling with their demons, defying the odds, and taking justice into their own hands, all without pandering to trends. A brave filmmaker willing to embrace that bold authenticity could reignite a genre built on timeless, universal truths about courage and redemption.

I get that PBD's questions likely stem from Gladiator being one of his favorite films, but it's nearly 25 years old. Russell Crowe has aged considerably, and his physique has also changed. Inserting a dead character into a new storyline when he's obviously aged and looks different than the Maximus that died, would have been a contrivance and would have only further made this sequel unnecessary.
@johns9969Күн бұрын
Crowe and Phoenix were young and on their way to becoming legends.
@WeRoneWeR121 сағат бұрын
Yes, the movie broke the box office, but I believe that's largely due to audiences craving a truly great film. Fans of the original Gladiator have been longing for another epic on the same level, and enthusiasts of shows like Game of Thrones are drawn to anything set in ancient times. However, Gladiator 2, at best, feels more suited for a Netflix or Amazon series rather than a blockbuster movie. It lacks the weight and depth to truly justify its success at the box office. I wish they had come up with a script to bring Russell Crowe back in Gladiator 2. This could have been done easily, even if his character appeared as a spirit or a seer. As for Denzel Washington-he’s one of my favorite actors of all time. HOWEVER, not for Gladiator. Why? Because Denzel’s acting style simply doesn’t fit the tone of a Gladiator-esque film. I love the original Gladiator, but not the sequel. I was disappointed and would rate it a 7 for effort. The plot was predictable, with every twist easy to see coming. The storyline felt generic and weak, something an amateur could have written better.

Pat’s favorite movies are the ones the rest of us stopped watching 20 years ago 😂. Pat’s the kind of guy who has a plastic framed Scarface poster in his house 😂😂 Still sitting around deep diving into fight club 😂😂

Probably because the movies were ten times better. Try using punctuation instead of emojis if you want people to take you seriously

I still love 'Quick and the Dead'. Another Russell Crowe film. I really love the cheesy movies, like Waterworld, Showgirls, but I love all kinds of movies. A decade ago I started watching foreign films and you all need to watch the 4 hour movie Jodhaa Akbar. It is so good. Also, the Turkish tv show 'Magnificent Century'. Amazing. Another genre of shows is Chinese drama. I fell in love with Chinese dramas.

I never thought in a million years I would say this, but I a hundred percent agree with Oliver Stone on this, but if they stopped making movies, we have such a rich, extensive catalog of films I don't need new movies at least big Hollywood films especially after the last 4 years there has been few and far in between that were really good.

Gladiator 2 is terrible... Terrible. Also in the beginning of the movie kids are playing football (soccer)... Soccer during Rome Imperium?? Hahahhaha.... Sorry for English I'm from Poland

Hey it's Hollywood where historical accuracy means nothing lol. Where the Tokugawa Era samurai are fighting the Spartans & Napoleonic cavalry in pink space suits 😅😅😂😂😂

@invictus-matthew7 If you really want good realistic action movies the old American classics such as the Dirty Harry movies or 80s Schwartzerneggar efforts are the ones to go for. Lots of ultra violent Hong Kong Korean & Japanese modern day & period sword play movies to choose from. These new mega uber million dollar Hollywood jobs are just fxcking awful. Instantly forgettable crap

@@richardingamells7213 actually I was born in 1983 so 80' & 90' for me were the best so maybe I'm "spoiled" :) by proper cinema, movies like "seven", "fight club" or "pulp fiction" raised me. So maybe that's why I'm so fussy. I hope my English is good enough and you understand me :) one more time regards from Poland. If one day u will be thinking about traveling to Europe come and visit Poland. Its beautiful, cheap and safe u will not be disappointed.

*Happy Xmas season 🥳 to y'all. We all know that the digital market is creating a different revolution in the world economy. I make up to $45,000 per week trading in the digital market. Having a job now doesn't seem to guarantee complete financial stability. Instead, having multiple sources of income that don't depend on the government*

I don't really blame people who panic. Lack of information can be a big hurdle. I've been making more than $21k passively by just going into crypto investment , and I don't have to do much work. Inflation or no inflation, my finances remain secure. So I really don't blame people who panic.

I am new to the crypto world and don't understand how it really works. A friend told me trading with a professional trader is the best strategy for beginners and busy investors, but for months now I've been making so research and haven't found any.please any recommendations

Why does Oliver Stone accepts the interview if he knows that he will be an asshole throughout the conversation?

PBD is a muppet. His questioning is moronic.
@norbitcleaverhook504012 сағат бұрын
He wasn't PBD was. He tried desperately to drag him into a conversation about a film he had nothing to do with and over a joke an actor made which PBD tried to make out was some kind of drama. PBD came across looking stupid and Oliver was disappointed for wasting his time with someone he thought was an intellectual and not a generic headline seeking journalist. It was cringe on PBDs part and Oliver probably had to try his hardest not to roll his eyes.

It’s a great point that we remember specific times where we saw a movie and were affected by it. Back to the Future. Die hard. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. The Departed. I still remember where I was when I saw these movies for the first time at the theater.
