I'm sure someone else beat me to this, but to get the perfect sound of Money For Nothing-use a wah pedal about 1/3 open. The real sound was kind of an accident. If I recall correctly it had something to do with accidental phase cancellation between the channels on the mixer used for the lead guitar, and was left in. Anyway, yes Mr. Baker- wah can be easily overused. I stand guilty of having fallen into that trap! Carry on the great videos!

The Friedman is my most favoritest wah ever. I usually just use the middle toggle setting. Mild, but love it. Especially love how it has an always-on output buffer, which meant I could take my Analogman buffer (which is a fantastic buffer) off my board and save room.

I have a Dunlop Custom Audio Electronics wah I got about a month ago. Great sound, it has two modes and a boost switch. Since I'm a big Soundgarden fan I had to get the same wah Kim Thayil uses. Turning on the boost with the wah down makes a really good lead tone.
@stewartbowman4 жыл бұрын
First song I heard with wah in it was Cream's Tales of brave Ulysses. It's still the only song that benefits from wah. Mainly it doesn't work with melody lines or riffs as it kills tone and attack, but is OK with chords when you're trying to cover up mistakes.

Using a Dunlop Mini-Crybaby. Like how it fits on a board. It has three different eq settings which I like as the wah interacts differently from guitar to guitar and amp to amp. I've done the wah trick to add some spice to playing in a band when there are no overdubs or other guitars in the mix. I like to use the wah for main riffs and solos. But for vocal accompaniment, I prefer to keep it simple.

It's got more range, fits on my board better (KEY) and I really just like it a lot. I've had to do some soldering on the Dunlop and although it doesn't really effect it, I feel like it makes it more scratchy. Anyhow, ❤️ the channel, bruh!! Maybe I shouldn't post because I have never used a wah pedal before.But I do believe that when an artist records a song, they do what they do for a reason. Now every band has their out takes and they pick which is the best recording.Sometime a wah pedal is good. Sometimes it's bad. But we all learn by just playing.

Carried away on wah, Jimi Rainy Day Dream Away on Electric Lady Land combined with some serious stereo separation, listen to that on headphones, it's so mind bending you'll be literally blown away, kind of messes with your equilibrium. I have a Dunlop original cry baby from the 80's, has that weird non standard power supply jack, one day I'd like to find one with more range, a broader tone sweep like Jimi seemed to have. The wah has a lot of use like Mark Knopfler and his cocked wah on Money for Nothing.

Robert, I'll admit that I'm not as much of a wah fan as I used to be, but I'll also admit to being fortunate enough to own a 70s Cry Baby. I bought it new and then gigged with it -- back in the days before anyone (or at least I) ever thought of mounting pedals on a board for simplicity, portability, reliability and security. Naturally, it got SERIOUSLY beat up over the years. Always sounded good, though. For the day-to-day Basement Boogie, though, I've gone digital. Now, I have models of both the Cry Baby and Clyde McCoy wahs -- and I rarely use either of them. Still like the sound, though!😎❤️️🎸‼️
