The brothers welcome their cousin Wadie Said, Professor of Law at the University of Colorado to reflect on Donald Trump’s personalized domestic and Middle East agenda, the Gaza ceasefire deal and the demise of international legal order. The conversation then focuses on insidious concepts of “terrorism” in the US, and its legal implications for those accused on trumped up charges as well its weaponization as a harassment tactic against college students and others.

Thanks for a fascinating, textured and thought-provoking discussion. I appreciated your focus on the concept of 'terrorism' and how it is continually manipulated by those in power.

It’s disheartening to see how many loopholes and ambiguities exist in the judicial system in the USA ... must be depressing to be a lawyer there :-(

Very interesting. Journalists are being rounded up, as well. Just recently Ali Abunimah was arrested and deported from Switzerland where he was going to lecture. Also, Richard Medhurst facing charges for refusing to turn over his password.

Should we really agree to use their sanitized term “settlers”? They’re “colonists”, shouldn’t we reinforce that by calling them as such? IMO this subtle difference in language is a meaningful concession we’ve afforded them

1:23:13 I feel pretty strongly that the comparison of Matthew Miller to Dracula is inferior to the comparison of Matthew Miller to The Mouth of Sauron. It's all in the smile.

i love your discussions. Very good analysis by the son of Edward Said. Opportunism is ideological...Trump is a Christian nationalist, cooperating with a system of religious nationalism which contradicts the very source material they claim supports their corrupt actions. Please stop thinking of Trump as a singular entity as if he is a king. The conservative movement in the United States is the problem and Trump serves their interests. I have a particular concern. You (and many others before you) tend to be very good at giving nicknames to liberal American politicians who enact bad policies but you essentially address conservative politicians who are as bad and often worse with respect. Calling Obama "deporter in chief" may be accurate but not only did the Trump administration enact worse policies they were deliberately cruel. Biden was as bad as Trump, particularly toward the end but you have no nickname for him, in terms of immigration. Biden is known as "Genocide Joe" but what will you call Trump when he tries to continue the same policies? If policymakers are going to be smeared for their retrograde policies, maybe the people most responsible for driving the acceptance of those policies should get some of that labeling too.
