In Tucson, AZ there is the Mission San Xavier Del Bac built in 1692 and is about 10 miles south of downtown Tucson - on the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation - you two should really try to see that - it's awesom - The priest who founded and built the original part of the building is buried not from the Mission. The last time we were in Longboat Key we were told to shuffle our feet because of stingrays, we never encountered any but we did experience little fishies nibbling at our extremities which kinda freaked me out😆! Very impressed with Drew’s kite surfing ability. We saw people doing it in North Bay last year. Looks like fun. Such a shame you had your Birkenstocks taken Brittany, I know how expensive they are. Hopefully you can find a comfy replacement. Mexico has some pretty nice leather products down there so maybe you might find something at one of their markets. So onward to your next Mexican adventure, stay safe lovelies. 🥰

This was so much fun to travel with you two!! I Love Mexico, especially Puerto Vallarta!! I have never been to Baja, and it is beautiful!! So sorry about your 👞 Zapatos!! I loved every minute from start to finish!! The Restaurant was Amazing, and talking to the owner was very cool. Tha water is beautiful for sure. The Mission inside looks like one of the Mission Churches in San Diego right next door to where I lived. I actually went one time on a Saturday Night or Sunday Morning to a church service in Spanish. Did not understand a word! Going up the Volcano rock buddy style was crazy/fun!! POOR FEET!!! Those shoes are expensive, maybe you can find a pair just like them in 🇲🇽 Mexico. Enjoy your Journey!!

Shoe tale: when I arrived in Saigon, Vietnam I stayed at a hostel that had apartments in a complex. I noted that many tenants of the building left their shoes at their doorstep so I did the same thing with my Clarks walking sandals. The next morning they were gone. I was livid, sad, and shoeless! Fortunately, I had decided to not leave my broken pair of runners in China. I was still very sad because the sandals had my mother’s. The young man I met for a motorbike was quite startled to find this sobbing, angry 60 y/o was his passenger! I wore my runners until that night when the rains hit and was forced to wait it out at a little bahn mi stand before inching my way to a shoe store find flip flops - not really open but they let me in. By the time I made it to my room I had to walk through six inches and more of water. Although ready to throw in the towel I refused to let the incident take advantage and spent the next 14 days on a motorbike tour through Vietnam. Wearing pink flip flops.

The secret is to NEVER leave BOTH shoes in the same spot. My daughter learned that in India, when entering a place where no shoes were allowed. That wouldn't have helped Brittany, as hers were the only shoes on the beach...bummer. Loved the video...as usual. Exhale.....

aww i hope you get a new pair of shoes, maybe a thrift store in the area will have some you like. my father in law is kind of like that i was drinking some hot tea at the table and went to check my newborn and came back and my cup and saucer was washed dried and put away. its a running joke now 35years later. (cant leave anything alone with grandpa, he will wash it dry it and put it away in seconds). Blessings

Loretto has an international Airport with direct flights . ALASKA AIRLINES. Just saying. There is a gringo grill outside town with parking lot made of 50/50 gravel and bottle tops. I loved that sound and most all of it down there. With the gift of elder expat to outfit us with silky wet suits they rescued our pleasurable access due to some invisible stingers in the water right there. Late October saw More hummingbirds and tiny yellow butterflies than I'd imagined. A record year too. Once in the sea I didn't want to come out. No rays by shore. We saw the three ring food chain jumping along fast out of the water near shore; smallest in front persued by bigger species and biggest behind them. Found the twighlight zone doll head in dirt on road to the remote beach. I'd go back and I've recommended it to my friends. Views are Kinda like the moonscapes across the sea. Drive slow at night if you dare. There are the cattle, howls and legends. Boo!

someone else commented that the big flying rays are manta rays, not stingrays, i'll add a vote to that. my brother and i first visited San javier after driving down the mountain backbone following the baja 1000 route for that year (1998). we had flatted our spare so limped into town on a bare rim. the roads in town were dirt. there was 1 restaurant, with 2 things on the menu, quesadillas and burritos filled with machaca de manta raya, we ate a ton of each. the roses in front of the church were beautiful then, too. the road down to Loreto was unpaved.

I always enjoy you short history information. Sometimes it drives me to learn more. Just a suggestion but when you go on a longer ride on the motorcycle like that wear a Camelback and drink some water while you’re sitting there. It will help you with the dizziness.

I took some high school kids to Mexico and they also "lost" their shoes on the beach. However, their shoes were actually stolen (along with a wallet and cell phone). Guess this is a lesson learned for everyone. Sorry that happened to you.😔

Very interesting. Now, I guess when I get my knee and rotator cuff tear fixed, I'll have to visit the Baja peninsula. Sorry about your shoes, Brittany. The thieves in Mexico are very slick. When I was in Mazatlán, I always slept with my wallet tucked away in my genes right beside me in my sleeping bag. But, in the middle of the night, a sneaky thief quietly and carefully lifted them. I didn't hear a sound. In the morning, all my money and traveler's checks were gone. So, I called home for enough money to take a train to the border. That sneaky thief ruined my vacation, but I learned a hard lesson there. You can never be too careful. They are very skilled at steeling down there.

my shoe and pants got stolen in Mexico near agua Azul, in the middle of the night, right out of the tent that we were sleeping in, fortunately they only got one shoe and so the next day I found the other one they discarded not too far from the tent.or piggy back hiking (how every hike with a 3 year old ends!)

The park guards saying they threw your shoes in the trash was a cover story for theft. Just my theory, but Birkenstocks are very expensive and most people would recognize that and hang on to return them not throw them in the trash.

A few little things: Mobulas are not stingrays, although they are somewhere in the same family. Stingrays are, as you said, hiding in the sand and you have to do the shuffle (although I never have). Mobulas swim in schools and as far as I know do not sting. If you happen to meet up with my friend Maritza, she can tell you all about them. Second, I THINK the thing you were eating that you didn't recognize was chayote. It looks like a (green) pear, but has the texture.consistency of a potato. Also, any time you see a double L in a word, pronounce it as a J and you're good.
