This is why high grade, Full Step, nickels of that period are so valuable. Very few _left the dies_ fully struck and then they were run down chutes, bagged, transported, rolled, distributed, issued to commerce, further abused... .

I received a gift from a KZbin coin hunter a while back. A roll of nickels from a Las Vegas casino that no longer existed when I received the roll. I excitedly opened the roll up and searched through and found - - - NOTHING. Just common, HEAVILY circulated nickels. It was still fun.

I wonder what this collector thought when they were sending these common date Jeffersons for certs. If it were me, I would have looked at each coin for those with full steps and only submitted those for certification. Anything less and you could never recoup the expense.

I've had more modern comemorative mint rolls that I've found at banks. Ones with the special wrapper that you pay a premium to the mint for. One time, 39 out of 40 quarters had a big gash on the obverse, probably from a counting machine or something. Just because they're mint rolled, it doesn't always translate to pristine coins.

super interesting, Daniel. thank you. any day now i will be getting a couple rolled Peace dollars from a hoard auction, and because they have been rolled up, some marked UNC some marked circulated, I have been contemplating whether or not I should send 5-10 of the UNC to be graded/slabbed. now, i am in a holding pattern and will remain as such until I get the rolls and put them under the scope

Hi Daniel, watching this video brings to mind something I purchased from the US Mint years ago that I have been saving for future investment. I bought 3, state quarter canvas bags of SC-D, SC-P and NH-D. What would be the best way to sell these someday? Thanks.

Hi Daniel, I want to send coins for grading to PCGS. I have us coins from 1970 to date (non gold), in which category I must to choose modern value (1965 to date)? Or economy non gold tire. Thank you very much for help!

What a donk move. Seriously. Who does this? I can look at hundreds, sometimes thousands of coins to find ONE worthy of submission. And that’s in mint sets! They call it coin roll hunting because you hunt the rolls for coins. Not for 3/4 roll! Jacques Loungecoque was here. XxXxXxXxX

All one needs to do is watch the videos of the mint producing coins. Everybody watches the "striking" process, but hardly anyone follows the minting processes through to the end where their resting place shows newly minted coins sitting in bins or bags waiting to be shipped and rolled elsewhere. Most of those coins will have bag marks, especially on nickles. That's a lot of weight rubbing and bouncing against each other.
@robbonaiuto3501Ай бұрын
Coin rolls can pay off but wow it’s alot of work. Mint sets is where it’s at.
@johnpeek827Ай бұрын
@1robbonaiuto3501 i found that out this year when I opened a 2024 set to populate my American Women's Quarters set for this year. Now, to find a decent "S" UNC issue for all 5 of this year's women. I've got San Francisco minted rolls but don't want to open the 3- roll set box to take 1 from each roll.

1962-D is an interesting date because it's valuable in the lowly grade of MS64... IF it has full steps. A collector has to educate himself and look for full steps, and be honest if full steps are not present.

Over the years I have purchased coin bags of circulated silver Franklin halves, war nickels (i Like Them) quarters and wheat cents and I have recently bought several BU 1959-D rolls of silver quarters and dimes. I had some notion that BU rolls would be worth more $$ than a roll of circulated coins. One roll of dimes is very Beautiful from end to end of the newly unsealed roll. After viewing your video "They Submitted 30 Nickels From Sealed Roll to PCGS", I'm a tad shell shocked to send in the entire roll only to find out the slab/with/coin is only worth what I pay to slab it. By the way my wife's birth year is 1959 so over the years I bought her a ton of rolls as gifts and got away with it. She just told me that it doesn't matter what I get her for next Christmas. as long as it's gold.

There’s just no way to “no-brainer” coin submissions to the grading companies. It is something that takes time to go through individual coins with a real grading eye and separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak.

Give up while your ahead… Your clearly not in it for collecting… so searching thru thousands and thousands and thousands of coins, plus doing thorough and consistent and up to date research, is just going to be a tedious job to you. Except you don’t get paid… it’ll be like gambling, except instead of pulling the lever, your pouring out tins & bins, sorting & reporting, and that bonus round or jackpot never comes.
