Snatch is just the Americanized version of "Lock stock and two smoking barrels" which was Guy Ritchie's original film. Even some of the characters from that were used in Snatch, including this one here. Hollywood saw Lock stock and decided they wanted another one with some American characters thrown in.

And then to compare to so many modern movies, his style and the style of editing was way ahead of its time, for example the shot where they show replica on the side, simple but effective and not overly done. And people really forgot that Vinnie was a footballer. Not JUST a common footballer, he was at Eric Cantona level of savageness. Actually played for Chelsea for a year before Chelsea was cool.
