Just a "good to know", Bob Wells did test sprays with the bear sprays. He found that you are more likely to get the spray come back at you in the face so it is better to use the bear "gel" spray. This lake and water fall was awesome, thanks for taking us along. Have a great week ahead!

At 20:52, you saw a bird. That is a Spruce Grouse. Very tasty piece of squab. Many people hunt them for sport and table fare. Great video!

Yet another magical place on Vancouver Island. 😱🤯 The combination of rushing water & granite river beds will always be beautiful to my eyes. 😍 And, again, the fallen trees really suggest the torrent the falls must become in the winter months. Love your channel. You have seen so much more of Vancouver Island than I have and we have been living here for 4 years..lol FYI, always take a picture of the walking trail map with your phone. It's a great reference to use when hiking.

The falls are all a bit diminished this year, with the lack of rain, but still look reasonable. I’m surprised you (and Naick and Kim) both skipped Torino? It’s packed with tourists in the high season, but even then the beauty of the place is remarkable. As an Islander, it’s a place I don’t really go, because it’s so busy in the summer, but it’s definitely a place to see

not sure, but those red leaves near the ground near the path could very well be posionous sumac, oak or ivy. Beware!

They were salal. Harmless and with edible berries - the berries aren’t that tasty, but have vitamins which can help with a more rounded diet at certain times of year. There is actually quite a big market for it - especially in the east, from florists. It’s fairly rigid and stays green for a long time after being picked. Many florists keep it on hand as it is a good plant to add some greenery while giving structure to a bouquet or table arrangement.

The other ground cover that can produce intense reds on the island is Mahonia, which has a leaf not dissimilar to holly - again, it’s not poisonous
