I bought a clearance box of beach blonde for $1 and it specifically said no orange color and guess what my hair did 😅 turned bright orange… went to Sally’s to attempt a bleach wash and the ladies there took me outside in natural light and convinced me it was a beautiful color… I can’t even look at the pictures back then, so embarrassing. I knew when my friend brought me a bag of brown hair dyes that she was trying to tell me something. 😳🤣🤪

Yup, back in the Day (early 2000s) there wasn't anything else in Poland for home dye/bleach. Always made sections, used a comb and a paint brush. For bleaching there were special kits in a box (still available - powder, cream and conditioner). Once I learned the technic it was easy and the results were good to great. But I'm blond and I used to dye my hair brown.

Thank you for a little humor in this crazy world! I've wrecked my hair, had a stylist wreck my hair, too red, too dark...haha you name it. Now it's long and gray! Thank God no more color. Although I have powder bleach, won't say what kind, lol, and developer because I thought I could lighten and silver up the ends to make it MORE gray, but after watching..I don't think that's possible.

@@blacktigerpaw1 ...age. All natural, soft light brown...with gray, all one length, to my waist. See my gray is transluscent in a way, so at the ends, you can't even see any gray (only on top.) BUT, when I went gray, I cut my hair off super short and have just let it grow. I think I could bleach some streaks, then color those streaks with a gray hair dye (I'd keep them in small pony tails SECTIONS and dye the next day.) My daughter says I will ruin my hair, I say SO WHAT. I'll just chop it off. LOL.

I’m in Sydney Australia and I don’t use box dies I go the hairdressers as they are trained and know what they are doing. I have looked at box dyes and on the back of the box there are pictures showing the colour you can achieve dependent on the colour of your hair, light, medium or dark.

I think that is exactly why they do it because for years I thought that worked crazily before they had the information highway then so now I give less excuses lol 🤣 because there's just so much info out there. Anyway it is deceptive as it shows the color of your hair and what it will be after it's generally not a real thing there but you know live and learn we all have to do it I still learn and I do thank you and others who give out what you can expect based on your color and what you can expect out of a cut or anything so you don't expect anything unrealistic for you. I actually had a hair fail just in 2019 with the colorista pastels boxes ^ _ ^" I bought the lightener of the same brand but then I finished with orangey hair and some splotchy messy pinkish colour on top. Guess when u don't know, u don't know, it's just simple ignorance. Fortunately I run to a hairdresser who covered those mistakes with a very nice dark purple that faded into a pastel lilac/blueish hue after a while :)

Blonde box dye only works on blondes and then it's not always the end result you are expecting. I have mousey blonde hair but onetime put a medium blonde dye in and ended up dark brown. Another time,sucker for punishment, another brand of medium blonde turned me strawberry blonde on uncoloured hair. Home bleaching works well, but not as quickly as being done at a salon where it's pale blonde within minutes.We are in another lockdown so I bet there'll be some interesting results happening.😁 The third girl had beautiful hair prior to using, such a shame.

I am coloring my hair with blonde box dye with no powder for like 7 years and it has lifted like few shades my natural hair is level 3 and now it is like level 7 dark blonde, maybe level 8 on some streaks..it lifts but not very much, it is not platinum blonde of course.. The worse part is my hair is falling very much since i have started to coloring them..if i would put bleach i think they would instantly fall out i guess.. :(

Hey. I have blonde hair I am from Scandinavian. I bleached my hair with powder from blonde me and then a bieze volume 20. It turns out very well. I guess you can use a volume 30 because your hair is darker. I am NOT a hairdresser. I just think it’s better than box dye. Have a great weekend ✨

Hello, yeah Hair Buddha recommends Blond me bleaching so i believe those are a very good products but i am scared to lose my hair so i rather stay out of it😬 I just wanted to say that i got at least dirty blonde out of the box dye so for some people box dye can work a little. Box dyes are packed full of ammonia and will do more damage to your hair than necessary. Stop using box dye and spend the extra $5 to get color and developer at Sally’s. Those box dyes people use, are mixed with developers but you don’t know how strong that developer is. It’s normally 30-40 volume to try and lift your hair for you, but there is no fuckin reason anyone needs to use a 30 vol developer to deposit color.

I made the mistake of using box dyes way too many times. I finally learned my lesson during the pandemic, when I ordered a bleach kit and went full on blonde. It was 2000’s Eminem blonde 😩 so I bought a honey blonde box dye to put over it and it worked, but at a cost- it destroyed my curl pattern!!!! I’m never doing box dye or bleach by myself again. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I hope this can help someone... If you want to dye your hair, first find your natural level. You can look at level swatches online, then compare with your hair in different lighting to be sure, and maybe ask friend or family to help too (since we don't all see color the same). If the color you want to go is no more than 3 levels from your hair color, then box dye should work fine for you, as long as it's virgin hair. If you want to go more than 2-3 levels from your hair color, then it's recommended to have it professionally done. Same if your hair has already been colored or lightened.

That is why you go to a professional! So you don’t take the bleach of too fast because you think your hair is going to fall out, go rinse it out and end up with orange hair. Plus the hair that you now dyed dark is damaged! lol

The first lady said she couldn't go to work looking like that,&my first thot is to go to Walgreens&get the touch up product that has a tiny brush in a plastic container,very similar to mascara,& very similar in consistency too. And it would fit in her purse if she needed to touch it up more while @work. Then it washes out in first hair wash. I think it's meant to touch up gray hairs temporarily.(very temporarily). This product comes in different shades. I tried it once for a small area of gray hairs near my hairline,but it had a fragrance,which bothered me,& I thought it was too thick,&wet,just like mascara,only this product didn't seem to dry as well as mascara. Just my opinion.

Not necessarily accurate. I go from black and even red tones sometimes to platinum blonde in one sitting with "loreal feria absolute platinum" every time I want to go back to blonde and it works perfectly without the need of any other products, and doesn't turn out the slightest bit yellow or brassy. It is always the whitish platinum look that is advertised. Every single time.

The model on the first box looks like she's wearing a wig. The second woman, the roots were kind of a nice light brown, like demerera sugar. At least in places. It's just sad that it wasn't even B Blonde boxes have intense powder bleach and 40 volume developer. It's the only thing in my local chemist that could conceivably life any of the hair here that you could find amongst dyes.

Is box dye lightener the same as bleach? Because some of them say lightens up to 8 levels. I use loriel preference platinum blond and it takes my hair from dark blond to very light blond in the first go.

I dont like box dye! I don’t like dye in general 😝 there’s so much to it! Getting to that perfect colour is never guaranteed! I’ll stick to braiding and cutting although I have successfully dyed many, just hate trying to figure out the best colours to mix to get it perfect! Thanks for sharing xx

I admit that I used bleach box dye circa 2006 with my husband but my hair and his was virgin and it worked fairly well with one box but I had a short bob and help. I and he have not touched any bleach since but my husband did have chemical burns from it so I'm going go assume it had 30 volume in it.

My mom went to blonde with a box dye. She picked the highest blonde and at first her hair went copper but we waited a month and went again and she was a dirty blonde then waited a month and did it again and she was blonde. It just take a long process also my mom's natural hair is brown like a reddish brown so maybe that's why it worked for her. My hair is black and I had to use bleach lol and multiple times and I'm orange now but under the orange is blonde and it took me years lol
