I used to dye my hair so much which damaged it, but I used to hate my natural color so I thought I would have to live with damage. My dad passed away from Covid on the 18th and as I looked through his old pictures I realised something... I was the only one in my family with my dads natural color. I'm in the process of growing out my hair now and am so excited to have what I had been hiding since I was 14 because now having his color is so special to me 🥺

Olive oil was okay, that's when I figured out I had wavy hair, cuz I saw the waves for the first time. Coconut oil was a big nono, I have thin hair, and given that it's too heavy it was also putting my hair back into the dry state it was before the olive oil. Took a while to get back in a healthy state. Also started to use a lot keratin/proteines because the stress did not just dry everything out, but also affected the integrety. Only thing I swear on coconut oil is cooking or baking.

Glad you got your hair back! I damaged my hair terribly when I was a teenager. For I while I dyed my hair jet black my natural color is dark brown, and one day I thought I want blonde hair lol I went to the beauty supply store got what I needed and bleached my hair, young and dumb me thought the longer I leave the bleach on the lighter it will get! I left it on for an hour, wasn't happy with the results so I bleached it again literally minutes after rinsing the first bleach off!! My hair was yellow at the top and medium brown at the lengths and fried! I went to a salon a few days after and the hair dresser bleached my hair again and the lightest color i got was red. I walked out with shorter hair that was dry and red it looked like I put a barrel of hay on my head and dyed it red. And no coconut oil did not help lol I learned my lesson, I'm happy to report that I have my healthy curls back! Wishing you and everyone happy healthy hair lol 😄🙂

Dyed my hair purple and my school principal did NOT like it and threatened me with expulsion. (I went to school for Cosmetology lol. I was literally less than a year from obtaining my cosmetologist license lol.) Fortunately my cos teacher did my hair during a school day and I got the most beautiful blonde color I've ever had in my life. It. Was. So. GORGEOUS. And the healthiest and longest I've ever had in my life besides my virgin hair obvi. What did I want to do? 😖 I wanted to do the black and white trend. I WISH I HAD LISTENED TO MY TEACHER AND NEVER DONE IT 🥴 it wasnt awful but it wasnt IT and it is what this is leading up to. I hated the "white" I had ,that had within a few weeks turn murky and ugly so, I dyed it all black. Being really upset about covering up the prettiest color I've ever had I decided to get a perm a few weeks later. Melted it. Insisted I could revive it. Could not under any circumstances revive it. Mildewed it in the process. Yes, it smelled. Shaved my head. Wore wigs to school and got bullied and dumped for it. Now have beautiful, long, healthy, red hair. I've learned my lesson BIG TIME lolllll.

I've seen many who's hair became brittle when using coconut oil as a moisturizing treatment. The fat molecules are too big to permeate the hair shaft but it creates a formidable barrier around the hair. So if the hair is dry and brittle, the protein and moisture it needs won't be able to get though the coconut oil and into the hair strand. Coconut oil doesn't wash out without a clarifying treatment, which means that the effects of your shampoo and conditioner are reduced dramatically and treatment/styling products can be rendered practically useless. The result is often completely depleted hair. Another thing I've happen with habitual coconut oil use is protein overload. I don't pretend to understand the mechanism behind this but I've seen it happen a few times. Moral of the story: if you use coconut oil for a while but your hair isn't improving or is getting worse, just stop using it.

I've done mine and my families hair at home the past 15+ years(no I'm not a pro/expert but I do my research and all that before doing anything)but I hate to admit I used to think coconut oil helped protect the hair🙈, I know better now so🤫lol. Love your videos 🖤

I think if you're going to bleach and color your hair at home, you've gotta be willing to whip out the scissors and surgically remove your bad decisions if necessary. I've done it myself. I'm not young enough to look cute with really short hair BUT I think short healthy hair looks better than long fried hair.

I love your accented pronunciation of "coconut oil". At 67 years old, I have long decided to let my hair be completely natural and live with what God gave me. Just a 10 inch trim every other year/ with bangs. It stays from mid to lower back. MY hair has never been more healthy or beautiful. But it's such fun to watch other people murder their hair.

I pay a hitman for mine and in the last year he has failed to actually murder it and took it from copper over purple to now a *vibrant* blue.

I normally don't wash my hair for a week before I bleach my hair and let my natural oils take over, then when making the bleach I make it into a soft paste to make sure I get an even coverage, why do I see so many watered down bleaches 😅 Hair buddha u should do a full tutorial for ur page mixing bleach and showing the right consistency for people trying to do it at home, love ur vidz😊

You are so right about the blue! I didn’t give up for over a year. It would be blue in some areas and turquoise in others. until two washes, a pretty turquoise for two more and then an ugly witch green 😭 It didn’t matter what I used. It was always the same. The hairdresser that started the process did it wrong from the beginning. Very long story that I won’t say again. Lol

That last grey color was very nice on her. But you can tell by the ends that it was SOOOO TIRED. That hair is crying, "NO MORE PLEASE IM DYING NO MORE!" I always wonder why they do it at night when they are exhausted OR d it when they are going out, on a date or just going out in general. Like...you know this takes time and effort! Don't do it in a rush or panic it only makes it worse. Also screw Coconut Oil, its not a panacea. People think that, apple cider vingar is a cure! Sure it can help with alot of things, like when I have hiccups (mine are so bad I get migraines) that one sip GONE! Or if you have a rash add it to your bath water, it will take care of mos of it. But thats it, its not a miracle and neither is coconut oil.

I’ll never forget about 15 years ago my gf tried to take me from darkest brown to blonde. After the third bleaching I remember brushing my hair after the wash and the hair was stretching down and breaking and then spiraling up to my head as if you were curling a holiday ribbon with scissors. The ONLY thing that saved my hair at that time was Loma hair serum. I wish I could give these girls a hug. Why do we do this to ourselves???! 😭

Because we live in a society that 1) only values women for their appearance and 2) profits enormously from women being made and kept insecure , our desire to be treated like humans and loved lets these vultures profit billions of dollars off the snake oil they sell us to paper over the insecurity they gave us

I use a heavier oil when bleaching my hair ONLY to have added protection to my scalp AND to make it easier to section out to bleach. I find my hair tends to be hard to section cleanly when it’s not damp or slightly oily since it’s textured, the oil helps it lie more flat. However I never completely saturate my hair, only just enough so it’s easy to handle since I do my hair myself at home.

If you think about it, putting coconut oil is the worst you can do. Since you're likely not coating the hair evenly, the bleach no matter how well it is applied, will also lift unevenly. Then you will repeat bleaching more often, which damages the hair more. Using a lower volume and bleaching more often likely works much better.

I use this product by Loreal called mega moisture and it is literally the bomb! My fine thin hair was damaged from perms and highlights and this product completely transformed my hair after one use. It's designed to use as a mask basically but I use it every time I shampoo and after 6 months my hair is the healthiest it's been in a very long time.
@amandakay7893 жыл бұрын
I had extremely fine hair my entire life had to wash it daily or it looked oily. As i got older it would fall out in the shower etc. I tried every shampoo on the market & nothing worked. I finally tried Nexus only the Hydra light Protein and omg let me tell you sometimes it actually hurts brushing my hair it is so long & thick now. I wish i could post b4 & after pictures. I use their mask like once a month. I can now go up to 7 days without washing my hair if i want something i could NEVER do & it barely starts to look oily on the 7th-8th day.

I've been a stylist for 40 years. I just discovered these type of videos. She has an unhealthy obsession with color. She can't obtain the shade she wants because she can't get it, by doing what she keeps doing. Coconut oil is the least of her worries. PICK A SHADE! Protein treatment will not bring it back from the dead. This video keeps going from bad to worse. Omg! The application of bleach is alarming. You know, when you clean out the lint filter of your clothes dryer? It looks very similar to that. Just because you can do it at home, doesn't mean you should. If you compare your hair strand to a cucumber, once you pickle it, you can't make it a cucumber again. It doesn't work that way.

I'm glad you brought that point up, about if blonde pigment starts showing through, you'll dye it blonde there again. I've done that before. Instead, I need to fill in the hair and then put the color in to stay darker!

About 8 years ago, I fell into that myth.... Everybody was like "curly hair, coconut oil!!!!" I did this for 2 years, then my curls got so super frizzy... I use Kreatin now for a while
