@analogueoverdigital92910 күн бұрын
Why is that? And also why do their engines run naturally hot. Like super hot?
@basshunter42810 күн бұрын
@analogueoverdigital929 These vehicles were designed to severely limit the owner (and outside shops for that matter) from making repairs. I say this because even in the 90s there was a "special" scanner that only Jeep techs had access to and only they could run certain diagnostic tests. Jeep wanted the owner in their shop (as much as possible). And in the case of the TJ, the frames were designed to rot out in ten years if in a snow/ice environment because they held the water/salt and didn't drain! The engines run hot by design, but that doesn't affect durability. The 4.0s frequently outlast the chassis. They are real tough.

I never comment on much here. But thought I’d give my 2 cents. I own a 96 and 99 GC. Can confirm the inline 6 4.0 is one of the best engines. Both of mine have 250,000 miles on them and run like sewing machines. As a former mechanic I always thought jeeps were junk. After I bought my first Jeep I realized that’s not always correct. Typically bad owners that don’t do oil changes, maintenance. There is a reason they stopped making this platform. The manufacturer’s don’t make money off equipment that doesn’t break/die. But yes pulling the head to change lifters is not so great.
