So much to be thankful for! Everything is not perfect and I don’t expect it to be but, we are blessed! We live in Franklin Co. PA and hunt in Perry. Had a little cabin there until 2020. It just wasn’t the same since they switched to the Saturday opener. But, also, hoping to get a little bit nicer, more comfortable cabin (indoor plumbing) in the near future. I'm 76 y/o and my son will be 48 in December......... when he was 6 y/o I took him squirrel hunting in the Mississippi River bottoms near where we lived. We sat down at the base of a huge oak tree and soon a doe and fawn wandered by........ the doe was about 20 yards out, but the fawn wandered up next to us. It actually smelled my son's boot then licked it before my son did what 6 y/o's do........ he giggled which scared the deer off. What an experience that was! She was born premature 4 lbs 1 oz at WVU Children’s Hospital on Sunday November 17th her due date was December 27th she was 7 weeks early. She got to come home yesterday. We are so grateful and thankful that she is doing well. Thank God for our little bundle of joy. Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving with your family.

I was an avid bow hunter up until 60 yrs old and if I didn't get anything I'd go out gun season. But once I turned 60 I wasn't interested in hunting anymore with the exception of coyotes. I enjoy putting corn out everyday and just watching the deer come up and eat. At 68 we are thankful we have each other and were still alive!. And i whish the Morgan family and everyone else in this community a Happy Thanksgiving!.

Happy Thanksgiving all! I'm thankful for the wonderful family and friends. Last year I took my 23 year old grandson on his first PA bear hunt. I did a lot of scouting prior to the hunt and set him in the best area possible. Within the hour he shot his first PA bear. That was more fulfilling to me than if I shot the bear. Getting him back out this Saturday for buck season. Good luck out there and enjoy the hunt!

Among the Amish boys, getting your three with a bow is a big thing. One yong man bagged a ten point and two does the first morning of hunting season, and get this, he was using his long bow, a bow he had made with his dad.

I’m 73. Bought a Winchester 1200 at 16 (my Mom went with me😉). Hunted rabbits for about 20 years. Some of my best memories. Most of my harvest went to elderly neighbors who were always elated. Happy Thanksgiving OWTM!

I am thankful that I was provided a deer. I hunted for 2 weeks and saw absolutely nothing, taking the first deer I saw. I was delighted for you at how many deer you've been seeing, it certainly makes hunting more exciting, although I agree that just being out there is good enough. I'm just like you and when I was younger I was a deer hunting fanatic, but I hunted with as many as 13 guys and deer camp became the bigger deal than the hunting. I hunted because I knew I would get stuck as camp cook if I didn't, but I really didn't care anymore. I moved to different state 8 years ago and so did a couple of the other guys (we all retired about the same time) and that camp kind of just fell apart. It's sad that the kids today would rather play video games than hunt. Some of my best memories are of deer camp and deer hunting

What are we thankful for. Well I have to certainly say God has been much better to me and my family than we deserve. Good morning Morgans and friends. Happy Thanksgiving to all. I had an interesting evening last night hunting a property that I had stayed out of all season. ( For a reason) Noticed someone had been coming and going along with a cell camera. So i made faces and gestures in front of camera knowing someone would be along shortly and I would get to the bottom of it. I sat and waited and waited seemed like it took them for ever to show. The rat took the bait, and they showed up! Like Hannibal Smith from the A- team always said, "I love it when a plan comes together." Long story short, 3 guys, two trucks show up and after I chew on them and never let up one bit the guy that had "permission" called landowner and he chews real hard on him. He told them that I was the only one allowed on said property. He almost lost all his hunting rights. One of them was banned from property, and trespassing. Lucky he's not sitting in jail for Thanksgiving and the sad part is he's a former LEO till he screwed that up. Talk about an adrenaline rush! Some people don't have a clue and just never learn. They showed up thinking they had me good and they left with a butt whooping. I'm thankful for all the blessings the good lord provides to my family, friends, my husky and me. Thankful for every new day and each sunrise and the beautiful sunsets that we get to enjoy. Thankful for the time that will be spent with family today and all the good food that we will enjoy. Nice to hear you speak about hunting and bringing a youth with you. It is an experience you will cherish when you have stopped hunting due to physical limitations. I receive photographs from the youth showing me their harvests. We donated our gear to them so it wouldn't get dusty in the closet. My hunting buddy RIP taught them hunter safety and took them out hunting with their dad. Seeing them grow up and now out hunting alone is outstanding. Wishing everyone here the chance to experience this feeling. I am so thankful to still be around winning my health challenges . Until then, don't knock it until you try it. Venison is nice but personally I prefer beef but wild turkey is almost unrecognizable compared with domesticated. I don’t care for chicken or turkey, but wild turkey is amazing. And taking them is doing a service in many places.

Being in a big family they one or two deer each year helped our family have good meat to eat, plus helped with deer management in our county in central Ohio.

I think what you are saying is the “hunt” is the process of all the things that make the sport a fun event period…the friend(s), family focus, the chitter chatter, and then finally the catch. I think what most younger people don’t know is how to process the catch because they never had to…and that is more fear based than from experience. Yes as I got older the whole dressing of the animal, whether deer or bird, is just not “fun” but how else do they learn it. And yes we are blessed to not “have” to do that in this country…in most places…but yet we have malnutrition in the USA because people don’t know how to fend for themselves. I know I am blessed to have had the life to go from hunger to abundance…and that is something to be thankful for…I hope the Morgan’s and the community can say the same thing…warm blessings to all!

I wear wool socks all year round! They keep your feet dry in the summer and warm in the winter. I learned that from the OLD farmers. No nonsense kind of guys. Our military tested a bunch and found leather boots and woll socks were the best combination they could find. That went from WWII until the 90's! I am going to have to look that company up, probably won't ship to Canada, like anything well made! Love my country, HATE MY GOVERNMENT!!!!

I married into a OUTDOORS /HUNTING family in my early 30s this was in 81 so i know that feeling you spoke about...my father in law always had hunting dogs ( bird dogs ) and all of them when they would see the shotguns come out of the cabinet they would go crazy tails wagging running around barking at the front door....hahaha thats me from September ( i hunt in NJ too ) to almost the end of Jan...a lot of people dont get it but its in your blood its in your DNA...like you i dont have to get anything its the fact that I'm out in nature... Im THANKFUL for being alive ( its been a long time too ) i try to be a positive person for myself and to other people as well...what i do now involves meeting people so i ask / pray to God to put me in a position that is helpful to someone in some way... Im VERY THANKFUL the election went the way it did BUT we are still not out of the woods yet...

I am really thankful for everything in my life. I'm on disability because of kidney disease and have to have dialysis. A nurse who doesn't know me commented that Thanksgiving must be kind of hard for me. I disagreed. I told her being a disabled vet whose had three hip replacements and dislocated both shoulders but still get around reasonably well makes me thankful. As far as the kidney disease, it could be so much worse. I could need a liver or pancreas where either you get a transplant or you die. So I have that to be thankful for. Also for my family and my small but close number of friends. They mean the world to me. Sometimes it takes a positive perspective to bring everything into focus. As we commemorate this Thanksgiving don't forget everyone has something to be thankful for.
