Our good friend (Michelle) in San Miguel created a comprehensive guidebook of SMA full of recommendations, art, history and culture. Essentially, everything you might want to see or do is in this guide. Her and her husband were the plugs to the city and showed us a great time. There’s also a great coffee shop and a couple of restaurants. La Azotea right off the Jardin is a great rooftop bar full of good food, vibes and views. As you face the Parroquia to the right down about half a block on the left. La Parada for great Peruvian food, El Manantial up the hill for great tacos, bar, fresh ginger margaritas, music and vibes.

Hello Yarbros from San Cristobal de las casas. I think that you will enjoy this city as well. Like San Miguel has culture and a very walk-able city. The elevation of the city is 7,000 feet up and the views are amazing. We came here from San Miguel and I see the similarities. The weather is much cooler but the people are friendly and again as in most of Mexico great food. Hope you will check out this wonderful city as well. Definitely bring walking shoes there are some huge hills here to. On a note check out Kenten's SMA near historic center. You will love their beer can chicken. Enjoy your time in SMA we did.

A small correction: Parroquia de San Miguel de Arcangel is not a cathedral. It is a church hence the name "Parroquia" in Spanish. A cathedral is a church that is run by a bishop within an area of a diocese. The archdiocese of Guanajuato which includes San Miguel de Allende and its cathedral is located in Leon, Guanajuato.

I am not a person of color but I liked your video nonetheless. We actually live in Oaxaca after spending 12 years in Costa Rica, and I graduated from a Mexican University back in the '70s. When your video popped up I thought I would get a Afro-American perspective so it was nice to see it through your eyes. I think San Miguel de Allende is the most beautiful town I've ever seen in my life, but it is gentrified, expensive for Mexico, & with over 15,000 foreigners living there. So for me, it has its downside.
@TheYarbros3 жыл бұрын
Well thanks for watching! We felt the same way until we got there and checked it out. We loved it! The city serves a financially "elite" crowd and that's okay w/ us. You guys are a great couple. Thanks for sharing and posting. You might want to visit Guanajuato City, its not too far from there. Another magical city. It is a colonial city with underground tunnels which cars are used to get around town. The tunnels were used for mining back in the days, and now are used by cars. You can definitely get lost there. I'm of Mexican American, 3rd generation in the states and living in crappy sucky California, and my family is from Guanajuato. I'm 60 now and have not been to Guanajuato in 45 years. I am tempted to move to Mexico. I've seen vlogs of the city now in 2021, it hasn't changed much. The Mexican people try to maintain its beauty. If you love San Miguel Allende, you will also love Guanajuato City. Thanks for sharing and posting.

@Teresa Fernandez Teresa, I've been retired living here in Mexico for many years. I don't see too many Black people from the US here either visiting or living here long term. Some of them like the Yarbros here are so sensitive to anything because they truly believe that Mexicans or White people dislike them just based on their skin color. I don't believe it has as much to do with their skin color but much more to do with their attitudes, but they will play the victim any chance they can.
