Wait, are you insinuating that if you don't condone the raping of indigenous land by wealthy corporations you should move to Cuba? Are you saying that money should be more powerful than treaties and democracy? If that is what you are saying, why would you encourage people who are promoting democracy to move to Cuba? Wouldn't that be you that should move if you don't believe in our basic principals of law? I personally don't encourage anyone who disagrees with me to ship out. Instead I would much rather have a conversation of why you would accept Native American sacred land to be pillaged by the wealthy. I mean, it's not like they have asked for much. Asking for the little land they have to be left alone doesn't seem unreasonable, at least from my perspective.

if youre interested in pipeline updates Jennifer Albright I don't know how to put into words the attack on highway 1806, the road right outside of camp. I heard that water protectors would be removing burned military cars that were blocking the highway and didn't think much more of it. The cars were initially left by the protesters to hold back military vehicles but then it was decided to reopen the road. No such luck. That areas been closed off indefinitely now to hold back protectors vehicles from the pipeline drill site. Despite only a few cars going out to trail out the vehicles, they were immediately met with shots of rubber bullets as more militarized vehicles rolled in. Meanwhile, I'm at camp walking to get some boiled water for tea right before dinner when I look up and see a bunch of medic cars driving out of camp toward the blockade and people walking and running in that direction. Someone yells to me, "you coming?!" and signals me out. I ask what's going on and no one seems to know but we are ready for whatever it is. I get closer and a medic tells me that she tried to come help the few out there first and she was bombarded with rubber bullets. I put on my ski mask which night blinds me and someone hands me a Rubbermaid top as a shield for the water cannons and rubber bullets. Next thing I know I'm a few feet from the razor wire and getting sprayed out with water. At this point we're laughing, not only is it cleaning out the tear gas from the air but hey, we haven't showered in a minute! Who has the shampoo?! I was using my "shield" to cover from most of the water and feeling warm from adrenaline. I looked back and saw protectors packed in as far as the eye can see. Suddenly another tear gas grenade goes off and everything changes. I've never experienced anything so horrendous, not even close. It fills your lungs and stops your ability to breathe anything. Your skin feels like it's melting off, everything is on fire inside and out and breathing only makes it worst. You are blind and suffocating and then comes the trampling.Everyone tried to simultaneously get away from the source and all you can feel is bodies pushing and tearing in the chaos and death feels like a real possibility in the moment. You know you are moving forward in the mob and finally the air opens. Someone grabbed my head out and poured a milky substance into my eyes, screaming that I need to try to open them for the flush. In all this Ive never felt hate like I did in that moment. I knew in theory that I should feel compassion but I couldn't find it. Burning hot hate tears flowed out of my chemical ridden eyes as I tried to fathom how anyone could do this to another person. Then at once someone yelled, if you're ok again, head back to the lines. It was then that I realized I'd have to endure this over and over all night. I grabbed my shield and ran to the right hand of the line since the wind was blowing the gas left. The water cannons were a constant and soon enough despite my trusty Rubbermaid top, I was soaked and soon enough later the adrenaline stopped keeping me warm. My shield was full ice now. The grass was ice, everything was ice. I looked through their bright fog lights at the razor wire now dripping with icicles and realized this was my first window into war. The respect I have for solders and veterans is immense and I only have a nothing-glimpse into their horror ridden realities. Now comes the laughter again. We keep our spirits high together and some people are dancing in the freezing rain they pour while others endure a direct cannon, peace signs and middle fingers glowing in the fog lights. All the while gas grenades are shot by the minute. Someone hands me a reflective emergency blanket. As the heat finally sets in, that's when the pain sets in. I momentarily forgot the powerful stinging pain of thawing. Some of us were on the ground screaming in pain. We didn't realize with all the action how frozen we had become. These blankets are miracles. This is also when the first camp fire behind us was made. Next came the concussion grenades. Someone yelled to close your eyes and open your mouths to lessen the concussion. Simultaneously they threw on the LRADs (long range acoustic devices). We all have ear plugs in but I still throw myself down, covering my ears to avoid any long term hearing damage... (to be continued)

Our people have been mistreated and given the written word that the land they reserved for us was to be treated by the boundaries of the treaties they gave us. They have deliberately gave disease, assaulted the people with all imaginable harm. We are peaceful people, guardians of the Earth and they deny us our rights to live free of pollution. 50 of America's rivers are already polluted with unthinkable water for wildlife and humans a like. i worked for a home heating oil company in Massachusetts. i was a driver there. my job was to fill school buses and commercial trucks with diesal fuel. in my time there there were spills. but these spills were 10 gallons or less for the most part. very rarely did we spill more. the most i can think of was about 40 gallons. all these spills are easy to clean up. and by definition small. barrels in the 10s to 100s are not small. 1 barrel is the equivalent of 50 gallons. so do the math. 10 barrels is 500 gallons. 100 is 5000. and so on and so forth. even when i had spills that i cleaned up that amounted to less than a gallon left residue, that stained the asphalt for weeks on months. the diesel fuel residue will eat at the asphalt. making it soft and loose. as all these vehicles are parked in the same places every day and the pumps naturally leak minute amounts every time u fuel them up. this also adds up. and builds up in the ground and rain water leaks it to the ground water and sewer systems. put even this inadvertent spilling across the US and u still could not cover the amounts of spillage that Dakota has seen in the two years, these guys have reported. it would be millions of tine greater.

Politics aside for a moment, anyone involved in health & safety knows reporting (oil leak) incidents is relevant to establishing a pattern of occurrences. This pattern is useful in establishing the need for changes in procedures to avoid a catastrophic accident which may occur. It is what health and safety are all about. For a government agency to so discount this is a failure of the agency in performing its primary mission. I'd call that government malfeasance.

I don't think a movement more dedicated to peaceful protest could be found in this country. These Protectors need to be listened to. They have been more than peaceful for more than two years and still want to be peaceful. Do you see Indians trying to make sure no one gets hurt when the medic gets pulled out of a moving car? The oil company and pipeline people just have to move the pipeline route away from the river. Is this the way to treat landowners who want their source of water protected? A few days ago the Protectors chased off a DAPL employee who was trying to mix with the Protectors. This employee of DAPL had an AK47 gun and was flashing it around as though he was with their group. When the protectors chased him away he ran to his truck, then ran away from his truck. The Protectors found his ID in his truck.

"The function of that police action is system sustaining. It is to maintain that overall system! And you don't look at the particular cost. I could demonstrate to you that every single bank robbery, that in every single case practically, the cost of the police was more than the actual money that the robbers took from the bank. Does that mean, 'Oh, you see, there's really no economic interest involved, then. They're not protecting the banks. The police are just doing this because they're on a power trip, or they're macho, or they're control freaks, that's why they do it.' No, of course they're defending the banks. Of course, because if they didn't stop that bank robbery, regardless of the cost, this could jeopardize the entire banking system. You see, there are people who believe that the function of the police is to fight crime. And that's not true; the function of the police is social control and protection of property." --Michael Parenti

Sunoco, a big sponsor of the pipeline, had 257 oil spills in ten years according to Wikipedia. These 257 incidents resulted in $46,936,215 of property damage. Sunoco has the worst safety record of 1,518 reports.

The government REQUESTED that the company stop building, the company has not been defeated in court, and it is only the waterway itself that they are required not to build in yet, not this land. In any event, this is private property, and they have a duty to remove protesters from private land, it doesn't matter that the federal government and the company are arguing about permitting issues. So the police situation is this.. there is legal construction going on, and illegal trespassing, what is there to be neutral about?

Capitalism is not to blame. Greed and ignorance is. The pipeline can go around the tribal lands, they have enough money to do that. The local sheriff's department are to protect both the people of that area and the people of the reservations. Do the deputies and others there know the law? Everyone call all of the senators and congressmen crash their phone lines. The sheriff dept do not have to back the government. This just isn't happening to all of you. It's happened to ranchers, small farmers even the Amish.

They touched on two aspects of why the Bundy protests were allowed, and the Standing Rock protests are not, but they barely covered the third and perhaps most important aspect. Yes, those protesters were white and armed, while these protesters are not; the Bundy protesters were also on barely-used government land, while the Standing Rock protesters are on corporate-seized land which is going to be used for profit. Once again- follow the money. Not to downplay the racial aspect or armed aspect, but to me, the corporate profit aspect is most critical in this case. I'm sure this action resulted from local politicians and police officials receiving pressure from corporate donors- some CEO called up a golf-buddy and reminded them that if they wanted to receive future donations, and not be primaried by someone else with their corporate backing, they had better send in the militarized police to crush the citizens.

These so called "law enforcers" are nothing more than hired thugs. They are a DISGRACE to humanity. The Indigenous people have been oppressed and violently treated by the U.S government and their corporate fascist pigs...yet now in 2016 we still have this ignorant B.S still happening. I also stand with my brave Brothers & Sisters of Standing Rock. Their violence and ignorance against us will NEVER overcome our GREAT SPIRIT!!! RESIST, One Love for Pachamama

Tell me why the lives of those in Bismarck more valuable than ours? Why is it less of a RISK to our drinking water than it is in BISMARCK? Why is our risk any different than BISMARCK.? they didn't want to endanger their water so it decided to endanger ours. we are so tired of environmental racism.

The U.S. Has a Responsibility to protect tribal members & Land as per the 1868 Fort Laramie Treaty!... Federal and Treaty law are equal! Ones doesn't Trump (over ride) over the other! The BIA and the FBI are obligated to protect all Tribes, Tribal members and Tribal land including treaty territories. This is established in Article 1 of the Fort Laramie Treaty of 1868. We need the tribal Leaders to get together with their treaty people to pass a resolution to request an intervention from the BIA (Bureau of Indian Affairs) and the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigations) To stop Corporate Security Guards and out of state police (Militia) from their involvement of the DAPL issue! Also to cap off the aggression of the Governor of North Dakota and the Sheriff of Morton County! It is their responsibility to protect us! ARTICLE I. From this day forward all war between the parties to this agreement shall for ever cease. The government of the United States desires peace, and its honor is hereby pledged to keep it. The Indians desire peace, and they now pledge their honor to maintain it. If bad men among the whites, or among other people subject to the authority of the United States, shall commit any wrong upon the person or property of the Indians, the United States will, upon proof made to the agent, and forwarded to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs at Washington city, proceed at once to cause the offender to be arrested and punished according to the laws of the United States, and also reimburse the injured person for the loss sustained. This is the “Clause” from the United States Constitution Article 6, Clause 2 that supports the treaty! Over State Governments! The Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution (Article VI, Clause 2) establishes that the Constitution, federal laws made pursuant to it, and treaties made under its authority, constitute the supreme law of the land. It provides that state courts are bound by the supreme law; in case of conflict between federal and state law, the federal law must be applied. Even state constitutions are subordinate to federal law.

It is astonishing how little research TYT actually does on their stories. They are so out of touch with what is actually happening, and what has been happening for the past 2 years with respect to the DAPL here in ND. First, there is no waterway in jeopardy. The water access that the pipeline will cross is scheduled to be retired in the next few months as construction of a new, modernized water access from SD has been underway for almost 10 years and will soon be complete. Both the tribe and everyone else in ND knows this full well. Second, there are no burial remains or cultural site that are being dug up. The majority of the pipeline's route has been altered to specifically follow ground that has already been dug up in recent years so that they don't disturb any additional lands. Also, the tribe itself has members on the committee designed to investigate possible incidents of this nature and they have not found burial grounds. Third, remember the plans for this pipeline have been discussed over the past 2 years with dozens of invitations to the Standing Rock tribe to attend and voice any concerns they have. They didn't show up to a single one. Fourth, these protesters are on private property and are violating the law. The only thing outrageous would be if the police did nothing. Fifth, you made a big fuss about the quality and quantity of equipment the police used in removing the protesters. How about recognition that they were able to uphold the law and remove over a hundred protesters without anyone being injured or killed? If this had happened in any other state, there would be fatalities left and right. Finally, it's unfortunate that the facts are rather boring and don't fit into the narrative TYT would like to push, but doing a half hour of research would do wonders for your credibility. I can only imagine the inaccuracies that must exist with all the other stories taking place in states where I'm not as informed.
