Something you failed to mention is that union membership is at a historic low, declining significantly over the last two decades. That slice of the electorate is much smaller than it was in the past when democrats relied so heavily on union support and endorsement. That’s not to negate all of your other points about union/blue collar workers shifting their support to Trump, but I do believe you left out a significant trend regarding the state of unions in 2024.

Well the point of a Union was to collectively bargain for benefits. Which are hard to fathom when the money doens't cover it to guarantee a roof over your head even. On top of that the messaging from the dems has been beyond asinine. Would be land slide if instead of stock charts the Biden admin had said whose causing the prices to go up so much, what they're doing about it, and continutal progress. I'm not from the US originally so I have a vastly different idea for Democrat messaging. Some days I even wondered if Biden assumed we all forgot our Brokeredge account paswords, for real. The majority issues is the economy. The way the messaging for the botder, and how the handling of migratns is done is beyond insane. For example the shut down of rec centers and parks in Southside Chicago. I'm not sure what the issue is corruption or whatever but wow, you have a mayor correctly identifying young people with no oppurtunity as the envrionment for gang violence, then the closing of parks, rec centers, school days randomly. This is an insane siutaion. On top of that the entire US left seems content on playhing catch a racist black man for the novelty of it frankly, than asking why on Earth are migrants being placed into low income areas WHEN RESOURCES FOR EDUCATION ARE DONE BY PROPERTY TAX. By the way, migrant kids need to go to school and learn English as well. This requires resources and personnel which a lot of these schools don't have. If you learn to conversate and make connections with people not wearing politica clothing you can get a fairly good idea on waht the main issue is. Offline I mean.

yes, because the majority of them lack critical skills that should have been taught in high school and later in college, but since they are never taught that skill, they are very easily manipulated. This is what I wrote to some of my friends and colleagues 4 years ago: There is one thing that the majority of the people don't get it, liberal democrats included, United States will never be fixed till it's education system is not fixed. Critical Thinking is not present in the American Education system. In Europe every exam you take you pretty much have to write an essay, literature, social sciences, history, geography... My last exit exam at high school in Biology I wrote an essay on Immunology( I still remember because I had really studied and barely got a B minus) even in science like in math, physics and chemistry you need to have a few connecting sentences in order to show your understanding of the subject. And this start from the age of 13 to 14........... If you ever do that in most US high schools, I bet 60 to 70% of the students will never graduate. I guarantee that if you give the essay in philosophy to the American students ( 70 to 80% of the students will fail). Multiple choices, fill the blanks well I had never heard of them till I came to start college in United States. 75 millions saw Trump lie, cheat, divide the country, make a fool of himself by asking if we could kill the virus by injecting bleach, and they decided that they wanted more of it. So in order to have a lot more functional adults you need to fix them when they are young. Our problem is no one even acknowledge this, then who is going to teach the critical thinking, if most teachers haven't been thought to think that way... "This constant lying is not aimed at making the people believe a lie, but at ensuring that no one believes anything anymore. A people that can no longer distinguish between truth and lies cannot distinguish between right and wrong. And such a people, deprived of the power to think and judge, is, without knowing and willing it, completely subjected to the rule of lies. With such a people, you can do whatever you want." Trust me, I grew up in dire poverty, I raised my kids as a single father without much help from the government, but things were better than when I was a kid. The government helped me buy a house. And earned income credit was a game changer. Also the wik program when my kids were born. Despite high housing costs and poor wages things are better now, at least for me. I get social security with a built in raise every year and I get food stamps. I get medical and mental health care for practically no cost to me. That's true, although it happened much more in the past. The Democratic leadership made the decision in the late 60's, early 70's. But even though Biden has supported the working class more than any president in 60 years, the Democrats are reaping the rewards of their past betrayal after betrayal in my opinion. Maybe Kamala could have signaled something in favor of the working class, maybe that would have helped her, I don't know. But the working class also undermines their own interests over and over, and the Teamsters support for Trump is definitely not in their own interests. It's dumb as hell.

You're 150% correct about inflation. A lot of hard-core Democrats and progressives blame economic woes on the pandemic. (Which is also a little simplistic in my opinion. Although the pandemic was a factor.) But a lot of average people think: "When Trump was in office inflation was low and so was unemployment. Now I can’t afford anything and I can’t find a job. I wish it was the 2010s again. I guess I'll vote Trump." It's not well-reasoned, but it's a gut-level reaction that's hard to combat.

The pandemic was a factor? The pandemic was absolutely the leading cause for inflation! Global inflation! It caused government overspending, record unemployment, supply chain issues in massive proportions, oil companies to lose money which they then in turn tried to claw back earnings, corporate greed to get their hands on that stimulus money and gov’t loans…if there was no pandemic then there would have never been that record high inflation.
