And now that I got not only inspired by Dave Rubin to be opened minded with people who are equally disagreeable with him as he is with them (whoever it is). I also got inspired by Daryl Davis who is an African American man who respected a kkk member's views on life called Roger Kelly to be able to understand his views, and now roger Kelly is no longer a kkk member and he's best friend's with Daryl. These people do not report on anything factually. Their entire basis is conspiracy and downright libels. Cenk quoted Sarah Palin as saying that BLM were not "people". Another blatant lie. I disagree with virtually everything Palin has said, but you can't misquote people and push that as fact. It's lies. And there's no other justification for it. You support con artists of sociopathic proportions. Look at the comments on most of their videos. They are not met with positive responses. What does this tell you? We refuse to be deceived by these transparent propagandists.

The Young Turks really has become painful to watch. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian are never on the same page and watching them try to build off each other's comments is awkward, at best. When Cenk isn't using cheap tricks to try to win a debate (like he did against Dinesh D'Souza where his ideas didn't prevail but instead he just made Dinesh spend the entire debate untwisting his own words), he stammers through his poorly informed opinions that are a logical reach at best and empty emotional grandstanding at worst. They really are pathetic, and they look so deflated since they've started hemorrhaging users by the boatload. It just has the feeling of a broadcast where the audience is walking out in large numbers and they just keep talking to keep up appearances and in the hopes that they can bring some of their audience back. It's not happening, though. Immigration control is not in the same bracket as Bolsonaro's repugnant comments on rape. Neither is authoritarianism in the same bracket as being right-wing. The populist movement spans a wide range of people, of which Orban and Bolsonaro are on one end. When I look back at my 32 years working in Head Start and Early Head Start, what stands out is remembering that we had to stock the year-end celebrations for families and staff with extra boxes of tissues for all of the happy tears in the room as families spoke about turning their lives their lives around with a hand up -- a hand up from fellow community members working though the well-organized resources of the government. Yes, there were maybe 7-10% of the adult caregivers of the children we served who, in my judgment, were taking advantage of the system in that they were not pulling their weight and not "adulting" well. But I almost always saw those individuals as immature, not bad or wrong. And many of them became more mature and responsible during their time in the program. I'd like to think that working together with responsible and caring adults in our center influenced them. Why am I writing all of this? Because I am a progressive and have never in my life thought about "asking for free stuff." (True, I went on unemployment for 2 weeks in my 20s and hated it....} Your question prompts me to reflect that virtually all of the liberals or progressives that I have ever known think of being on the left as exactly the opposite of wanting free stuff. Rather, we feel enriched and blessed by SHARING WITH those who are struggling. To me, this is the same way that many of us feel about our families and friends. The difference is that progressives feel better about sharing and caring with the human family as a whole. We don't feel comfortable or ethical sharing only with those who agree with us. We value the dignity and worth of all people. Speaking for myself, anything more narrow than that does indeed feel "selfish" to me. I was not writing about pulling up your own bootstraps being easy, Rather, I was writing about sharing only with people that you identify with as being too easy. My heart feels better when it is stretched wide to include kindness and concern for all.
