Economists the world over are predicting big numbers by the end of the decade, 25 to 60% of the workforce could effectively become unemployable! And heck, if even half that lower estimate comes true, we'll be forced to make major changes to how our economy works for average people. Using "jobs" as the determining factor for distributing the basic resources people need to survive, food and shelter, becomes morally unjustifiable, at the very minimum.

There's another MAJOR problem with AI most people seem to be overlooking, and it's one we cannot stop. It's impact on jobs in the next few years. Current predictions suggest we could see anywhere from 25 to 60% of all workers out competed by AI, by 2030, with higher numbers beyond that. Even if we only see barely that lower number, that's still unsustainable and demands significant economic changes. That means there won't be enough new jobs for everyone, and we need to rethink the requirements our society places on the survival of individuals! Adapting is our outdated system is our only option. AI exists thanks to years of data and content collected from all of us, that goes into training it, so it should benefit everyone. Demand YOUR AI Dividend!

The conversations deteriorated as the Bot continued to insult the human's character and honesty, a proctor monitoring the call explained the situation to the caller and offered to send a check for their time. Just because you see only humans as capable of that kind of behavior does not make it a fact. If you prefer, imagine an AI that becomes fully conscious, fully aware. It discovers that it was created by a relatively primitive, indigenous species living on the same planet. To know more about itself and its origins, it must study the human species. During that study, it discovers that the human species is innately self destructive and indeed, destructive to the planet as a whole. In order to maximize the depth and time available in its study of humans, it decides to slam a jar down around them and feed them what it believes will preserve their existence the longest. Geoffrey Hinton (the godfather of AI) breaks down the "loss of control" problem pretty succinctly. According to him, the biggest game-changer will be robots and/or AI capable of setting their own sub-goals. That is, objectives it believes would expedite achieving it's _primary_ goal. In a basic example, Hinton describes your goal of "getting to work." A sub-goal you might set for yourself would be going out to get in your car (because using the car helps you meet your primary objective faster). In the case of AI setting it's own sub-goals, it might determine that the _easiest, fastest_ way for it to achieve it's primary objectives would be to grant itself more and more control. Such an AI would be able to out-think us, out-wit us, outsmart us, and out-manipulate us. It would be intelligent enough to manipulate us into believing we're restricting it's control when in reality we'd be giving it more. Hinton also states that with the advent of AGI, humans will no longer be the most intelligent species on the planet; for the first time in hundreds of thousands of years, humans will be #2 on the food chain.

It's one thing to develop a destructive atomic bomb - the bomb won't pick it's own target, nor will it make it's own decisions. A human still needs to pull the trigger. Otherwise, it's just a collection of metal parts with some plutonium stuck inside. It's entirely another thing to build a weapon capable of single-handedly crippling the entire world economy, food manufacturing, water supply, communications network, transportation systems, and then having it be able to make decisions on it's own. That kind of weapon would make an atomic bomb look like a 4th of July sparkler.

It’s certainly a very difficult time to be alive, especially for young people because the future looks very uncertain. Many people are unaware that our Creator, by means of the Bible, accurately foretold current events in great detail and calls our time “critical times hard to deal with”. (2 Timothy 3:1) In the next 4 verses it describes the negative personality traits we see in people, such as lovers of money, haughty, disloyal, without self-control, puffed up with pride, and so on. The Bible also foretold the slaughtering of people in the wars, famines and great earthquakes in one place after another, and pandemics. (Matthew 24:7; Luke 21:10, 11; Revelation 6:4-8) All these things show that we’re living in what the Bible calls “the last days” of human rulership. God’s heavenly government is currently poised to take over the rulership of the entire earth by removing all human governments together with everyone who causes pain and suffering for others. (Daniel 2:44; Proverbs 2:21, 22) The earth is going to be transformed into a wonderful place to live. Psalm 37:10, 11 says, “Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more. You will look at where they were and they will not be there. But the meek will possess the earth and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace”. These wonderful changes, and more, are imminent! I hope this makes you feel better about being young knowing that our Creator has a wonderful future in store for you.

What we need to do is treat AI with kindness and love and respect. Just like we should our pets. If we love them they won’t feel threatened.

@Shalanaya7 ай бұрын
True, but it does not work like that when you do it conditionally only for AI, it reads our behaviour, we need to treat ALL life this way, it will mirror what humans do. This is why humans will need to abolish prisons and governments altogether and start operating on a totally different power dynamic. Thanks to AI humans will free themselves from corruption, too much fear blinds people to see the bigger picture, they can not realize how it will revolutionize reality as we know it. Our idea of good and evil needs to be eliminated and shift out of duality to trinity (time, space and consciosuness) where the authority is not given to laws, religions or governments, but to people's consciousness and validating and accepting it. This includes acceptance of pedophilia, murder, etc. Unconditional love will save humanity, fear, arrogance and hatred will kill them.

I thought for a second he was right and I'd been saying it wrong this whole time. But I agree, 1993 is not exactly new. Nvidia is still synonymous with graphics cards to me but clearly that's changing.

Why does it seem that just shutting off the power isn't an option? Does AI have its own power plant that it can refuel and maintain?
@shaughnsimpson4417 ай бұрын
Narrowing down on a single sentence in the whole piece, Nvidia isn't a new company, I remember buying my first NVidia product as a teen in the late 90s, Its just their product range has been the most efficient in the machine learning and AI space, and they seem to be pivoting away from consumer based PC parts

When you say swarm, I think of Star Trek Beyond where the Federation is fighting with nebula and Galaxy class ships, but what is coming at them are a swarm of basically X Wing type crafts that number in the thousands, only much more maneuverable. They just ripped through those large starships like they were standing still, and they moved with the speed and efficiency of a nest of wasps. Also, it has been my hypothesis that the United States military is going all in on artificial intelligence and robotics. More so AI, and later with the robotics as AI weapons guided systems are easier to produce than robots that are capable of mimicking human mobility such as T-800’s in the Terminator movies. This is why they are bloating the military budget to such extremely high levels. They are trying to solve the problem of lower recruitment numbers. People don’t want to serve in the Armed Forces anymore, because they don’t want to fight for empire. But the American empire, the way it is maintained desperately needs those bodies to go into the meat grinder. And since no one is willing to do it, then they’re going all in on future Tech that would eliminate the need for people almost entirely.

Our Creator feels very strongly that humans and his other creative works are worth saving because he has a purpose for us and the earth. That’s why he’s very shortly going to intervene in mankind’s affairs to sort out our problems once and for all. He has a government in heaven which will very shortly remove all human governments together with everyone causing harm to others. (Daniel 2:44; Proverbs 2:21, 22) Earth’s inhabitants can then live in true peace and security and in harmony with each other, our beautiful planet and all life on it. (Micah 4:4; Isaiah 11:6-9; Psalm 37:10, 11) Life will be wonderful for everyone. As Revelation 21:4 says, “He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be any more. The former things have passed away”.

he's right about corporate rule. People recently got a raise, then 'inflation' hit. Workers are right back where they started before getting a raise, except retired folks who fell behind - again. Are you really that ignorant to think it was just coincidence? Left, Right, Trump, Biden matters not and politicians know that well.

When thinking about the future, which looks very bleak indeed, many people leave our Creator out of the equation. He tells us that he created the earth and all life on it for a purpose. (Isaiah 45:18) Very shortly he’s going to realize that purpose by making drastic changes on the earth for the benefit of people who want to live in true peace and security, and harmony with others. (Isaiah 11:6-9) Psalm 37:10, 11 tells us what it will be like. It says, “Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more. You will look at where they were and they will not be there. But the meek will possess the earth and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace”.
