I really like Patrik Eliáš. He's kinda underrated here in the Czech Rep. since he has no gold medal with the national team - either due to injuries or NJ's play-offs runs. Best goals/point scorer in NJ's history, 2 cups, 20 yeras in one franchise (which he is really proud of)... Borderline HOFer for me.

Hall of fame should be not only about points and winning cups but also about setting the standards of the class, sportsmanship, being a great example for young people, for being professional thru and thru, reliable, loyal, humble and supportive towards teammates. And for all of this, Patrik Eliáš is the prime example of how it should be. For me, as a Czech native, he is the most underrated NHL player from our country even here. And it's kinda a big shame. He is still an amazing persona to this day. Love him, and it's great to see you giving him a huge credit he deserves! Thank you! :)
@bemindful33154 жыл бұрын
As a Flyers fan I will say I think he belongs in the Hall. Huge difference maker offensively for a Devils team that sorely needed scoring to compliment their style of play during his years there. The cups, his longevity in one city and the fact that he holds team records and has his jersey retired puts him ahead of some of the other possible candidates. I always respected Elias

As a life-long Devils fan, I can say there is incredible love for Elias in Jersey. Devils fans tend to love players who are more work ethic than show (ref: Ken Daneyko), and I think we all think of Elias as both a player who “earned it the right way” and as Mr. Consistency. One of hockey’s best-kept secrets, hiding in plain sight.

Disclaimer, I'm a Devils fan. I hope he gets in but he definitely is on the list of the most underrated players. There was also the one season where he missed most of the season because he became severely sick from Hepatitis where just surviving was the main concern. He also made a lot of jersey hockey players growing up want to wear 26 as their number.

I own an Elias Jersey, and I proudly wear it to home and away games for the Devils. My favorite forward all time, who not only had skill, but was an incredibly smart and well positioned player. Yeah he had great offense, but I think what's lost in all that is he is/was one of the best team players to play for NJ. He's a forward with tons of upside, but isn't stingy on defense like most other scorers in the league. A complete player. He deserves to be in the HoF.

HALL OF FAMER for sure.

this made me want to read some stats and jersey has never had a 100p guy in a season. 3 cups and claude lemieux still has their record for most goals in a playoff run #ConnSmytheBayBay edit: apparently he's not in the hockey hall of fame...he's the franchise's all time scorer by over 300p, which i always assumed is what got sundin into the hall of fame. there are differences: mats was a point per game player who won a gold medal. elias was nowhere near a point per game and with a bronze medal. (this all matters because the hockey hall of fame counts all hockey essentially). personally, the leading scorer should be a hall of famer, especially at over 1000p on a team that wasn't known for scoring.
