On today’s episode, the History Guy tells two stories of Ancient Egypt. First he talks about the far off period of the Old Kingdom, and how the ancient Egyptians transitioned to building the massive monumental pyramids we see today. Then he talks about one of the most astounding forgotten egyptian finds - a fully intact tomb buried beneath the sands in Tanis, that was overshadowed and forgotten by other world-altering events.
This is original content based on research by The History Guy. Images in the Public Domain are carefully selected and provide illustration. As very few images of the actual event are available in the Public Domain, images of similar objects and events are used for illustration.
All events are portrayed in historical context and for educational purposes. No images or content are primarily intended to shock and disgust. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it. Non censuram.

I find these generational conversations to be very interesting. I almost feel like I'm sitting around at the family table when they all get together for a holiday and listening to what they're all talking about.

I do have to admit, this episode, for some odd reason, caused the Steve Martin song, "King Tut," to be running repeatedly in my head! LOL

@@tomberry4769 "Had a condo made of stona" When I was in high school I worked part time on the weekends for an old fellow (like 87 old) who repaired antique musical instruments. I restrung bows and other low risk tasks for the most part. I think he really hired me for my eyesight...he couldn't see much of anything at that point. He had an old Gibson banjo that was up for sale and he mentioned that a guy from out of town had called him and agreed to fly out to purchase it the following weekend (This was way before the web existed). I had things to do at my parents house that Saturday and so I wasn't there when the guy showed up but the following weekend when I went back to work he started telling me how wonderful the guy was and said he was somewhat famous. He showed me some swag that the guy had given him and when I saw the bill of sale I realized that I had missed an opportunity to hang out with Steve Martin that day! I still kick myself today...

The channel ToldInStone has said that noses from statues were often destroyed because it was believed that spirits or deities could live through their statue. Destroying the nose by which they would breathe would suffocate the spirit, removing it from the statue and making it no longer a vessel for worship.

But don't you think it could be the same case as the sphinx. We know the Muslims chiseled off the nose to show disrespect, they hate any other religion. You still see this today, they've been like this for centuries. If they could get their hands on it they'd do this. They destroyed the smallest of the three great pyramids and they're still deliberately destroying this stuff today, if it was above the sands than I have no doubt that it wasn't the ancient Egyptians that did it. We know who did it, they've been around for a very long time without changing a bit.

I wonder what the latter pharaohs did with the remains of those whose burial objects were used for themselves. It would seem that they would have more respect and consider that what they were doing may someday be done to them.

I was taught BC and AD in school. We were taught the origin was religous and that was the last time religion was mentioned. From that point forward it was merely a way of keeping historical events in their correct order. I use BC and AD because it is what I'm accustomed to, if you don't I'm fine with that as well.

Folks use stained glass, whole windows or pieces for their homes. Many times they are taken out of old churches. Alters are made into kitchen islands. Government buildings that had eagles, shields, etc are taken apart and they are used in gardens or in cemeteries.

I believe you will find that there is no year called zero or “zero zero.” Our dating system counts down to 1 BC with the next year being AD 1. This becomes important when count reigns, lives, or long term events that continue from BC to AD. You actually lose a year as you add together the duration of the person’s life span..

We still don't really know how the pyramids were built. The copper and bronze tools they show in the museums have been proven incapable of the kind of stonework we see at Giza.

In my opinion, If you need to reset Year Zero, I would say to put it around the time of the Cataclysm that that caused the Great Flood. I say that because that's when mankind 'Started Over'. Thank You for the Great videos and podcasts. Take care All

All the others like the Nubians , the Asiatics, Libyans and the Sea People kept ,traded and employed slaves except Egypt maybe not in the Biblical manner but then the Bible never stated anything about Pyramids that came from Hollywood.
