@@Shadow-bs1iu thanks for your info but who is right I been reading that the protein shakes have chemicals in them that can hurt you so I guess we're all guinea pigs for the chemical companies I just eat whole foods so I'm just going to stick with that

I'm a carnivore but when asked I tell people to eat a whole food based diet and cut out all highly processed food.

I don't understand that opening statement. Protein drinks are often DAIRY BASED!! And loads of vitamins? Although the fat is often removed in the whey process etc..

I can’t get enough protein I have protein powder with Greek full fat yoghurt and berries or coffee with cream and 10g protein powder. Plus a main meal with protein and veggies. I’m post menopausal and work full time and exercise couple of times a week but do need to do more .

Whey is animal protein. That said eggs trump both whey and meat. Far greater availabilty and good fats.

No. This is absurd. This kind of over-the-top zealotry is abundant unfortunately. Dismiss anyone who uses intemperate & absolutist language.

@@christopherdavis9883 After I replied, I was curious about her qualifications because her manner set off every alarm bell in me. She has quite a business going. BA & MA for Cambridge (well, that's pretty good!) in...economics/math. Oh. Then a PhD in "Public Nutrition" from some Uni in Scotland I'm afraid I've never heard of. No hard science background I can find. Lots of books, products, paid memberships to her site. She has a page on Rational Wiki that is brutal & illuminating.

you don't actually need fiber. The Inuits survived without it! Seriously though, your gut microbiome will move waste along your GI tract.

It's a bit stupid her argument for the chickpeas..... The "imbalance" with the amino acids are why vegan people COMBINE their prorein sources to make up for these so called " imbalances " . Plant proteins have less of the amino acids linked to cancer that's why they are a better choice longevity wise . They contain also fiber and polyphenols that promote health and are again a better choice for longevity . She is also wrong about salt . Salt is linked to gastric cancer and elevates blood pressure . Miso is a better choice . Even the best red meats ( grass fed / grass finished) contains heme iron that is also linked to digestive tract cancers. The way you cook meat is important as well because of the formation of heterocyclic amines that again promotes cancer .
@Dirk_van_Tonder5 ай бұрын
Never heard so much outright disinformation in one paragraph 😂 Contrary to popular opinion, fiber is BAD for you. Fermentation is the only process which can break down fiber which happens in the extended cecum found in herbivorous animals; whereas the human digestive tract is enzymatic in nature. To humans, fiber is a gut irritant. Watch this video by Dr. Rob Cywes : kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnimoa2IlMpspJY And Dr. Paul Mason reviews the best study we have on fiber and how it actually CAUSES digestive tract issues (the complete opposite to 'resolving' gut issues which we have conventionally been told) : kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqK4gGeGbqZ3f5I Second, there is literally NO randomized controlled trial (the gold standard in scientific research) which has ever been done on meat eaters which can prove a link between meat consumption and cancer. What you are referring to are epidemiology studies which are essentially useless at proving causation and can only find weak association. Association does not prove causation. Those studies are based on patient feedback questionnaires which are ridiculously flawed and unreliable because for example, a pizza with pepperoni toppings as a meal is categorized as "red meat". A burger, which generally comes with extremely unhealthy things like a wheat bun, deep fried battered onion rings, sugary tomato sauce, mayonnaise made from toxic seed oils, highly processed cheese etc likewise is categorized as "red meat" in these weak studies. As for carcinogenic amines in meat, Dr. Alex Petrushevski goes into great detail here and thoroughly debunks that kzbin.info/www/bejne/i6HCkIV4lNeaiK8
