I'm calling myself out in this one, lol.. Here are some modifications that I have done over the years that I am not particularly proud of. But we all start somewhere and we all develop over time! Let me know your thoughts on this list, are there more I am forgetting? Comment down below..

LOL Bruh don't ever make another video like this again. None of the stuff you did in the past was really cringe. Modding the 328 wasn't a problem because you did it respectfully. A 328 that handled like an M car would be hella nice, especially if it had a tune. If you want to see some cringe, cheap ass ebay mods I'll show you the cars in my area. The only thing you did wrong was not doing the maintenance part first. I do feel you on, as you age your taste changes, but YOUR progression of modding your various cars ain't in the same ballpark as cringe. These kids still cutting uneven fenders for their BRZs to make them wide body? That shit is cringe.

Most of your f30 upgrades were what brought many of us to your channel. My tastes evolved the same time with yours and i tend to prefer classier looks now, rather than over the top stuff.. but, the double grills, the carbon, the f8x control arms, dude these really work. Especially here in europe, people prefer the 328 rather than 335 because of the taxes.

i agree with all of these except the winged mirrors and the grill. i have had those mods on almost all my bmws and they look so good. i’m not trying to look like an m-car i just love the way they look. imo you can modify your bmw however you want. you can even get a full m3 body kit and slap on your 316i and make it look exactly like an m3. That is 💯% okay as long as you DONT put m3 badges on the car.

Thic- As you're getter older (middle aged) you want a more mature look for your car. The OEM/stock look is what I strive for these days. If a car is to be sold, new customers may want the stock look. Plus, as we all get older, we all look ridiculous driving around in cars that look like a young person modded it from eBay.

Your being too hard on yourself. I think the modifications you made on your journey to you tube heaven are what made your channel successful. I would agree modification need to be applied carefully. I’m an OEM guy myself and never really stray too far from that path. What you said about maintenance is bob on. The most important thing we all need to ensure is that our beemers get serviced and repaired on time. But all in all I don’t understand why you regret what you did. It was great content.😅

I went to BMW in my area and asked for the real upgrades for my base 428i to get the m-package body parts and it would've cost me 8 000$ CAD just in parts. No paint. No install. The retro-fit stuff doesn't include all the aerodynamic parts that lay beneath! There was quite a list of parts in the exploded view that the rep showed me on his computer! I'm just going to enjoy my base model and buy a proper spec'd BMW once I advance in my career and have more disposable income! :) Great video in keeping it real!

Glad I never did double slat on my f30 330i. Getting an e92 335i m sport definitely made me develop a better taste and keep it as oem looking as possible.

These were the best worst mods, you could have had 3m tow hooks, window louvers, double decker aluminum wing, spiked lug nuts, vortex generators carbon wrap ,rgb lights exposed ,tire letters a wicker bill, canards, brembo brake covers, straight piped exhaust, ect. This channel is what started pushing further towards BMW.

Agree on the maintenance part. Heidi has gone through a whole refresh basically from from bearings to alternator. Just tell your wife a Mosselman Thermostat and Pure Turbo is preventive maintenance and you can have your mods too. LOL. All that is left is to do preventive maintenance on is upgrade fueling which I will do after Mpact. Almost at 100k miles and she is almost new again.

Back in the old days about the only car that had gold wheels from the factory was the Smokey TransAM. I ordered my '79 in brown and the WS6 package gave me the same wheels and it looked great. The wheel wasn't covered in gold like yours or the WRX and the brushed aluminum really contrasted the gold making it look the way it did. BBS was making aluminum wheels with gold on them also at the time, but I'm not sure how many cars came from factory with those. I remember seeing them on Porches on the track.

I personally disagree with the headlights. A lot of times when bmw do a mid life cycle face lift they just change the bumpers and headlights, I think the headlights are a great way to modernise your car a bit if you can’t afford to jump in the latest model

I remember when I had my 328i i got those clear vland tail lights and I thought they were so sick but looking back it was cringe. I also added the sequential turn signal lights for the mirrors and they were also hella cringe don’t know why I did that. I freaking broke a mirror trying to put those on. I have a 340 now, I just have a bit of carbon here and there and a mid pipe.

I agree on many things like how things can be tacky etc. for example from the second you dropped the video on the F87 headlights I did not think they fit the car lol. However things like M3 control arms on the F30 it is up for discussion. If you really like your 328 and want it to handle better than that’s a great modification. Also the double slat grilles, I honestly think they look good on F30’s. Would I do them? No but I think they are a good looking mod and it definely still suits the look of the car. Now double slat grilles on E9x chassis are a big no no. I would never put those on my M3.

Sounds like you’ve become a purist. I think that’s a natural progression in modding cars and generally getting older. I literally drive a Mazda 6 and I had Amazon/Aliexpress mods that I regretted. I think less is more. Personalize without compromising what the car actually is. Etc

And those of us with 328i, E92 who do love are cars. Know they are very good cars. After all to some of us, as you have said, naturally aspirated, hydraulic steering are king. I had many cosmetics on my BMW F15 that I actually removed to return the car back to a more original look. The only mods I keep is the carbon fiber mirror caps (not the M flared type) and the black gloss grilles.

Thought about the m4 e90 bumper but.. i just cant bring myself to do it, certain angles just look gawd awful. As a result i keep looking at the model specific M style bumper and an Mstyle lip instead, As for mods and maintenance, i like to start off with mods that add performance, AND take care of maintenance, example, the b58 coil conversion, you replace all the coils, intall new plugs and get more spark energy, a mod with maintenance, there is also the bremmen aluminum cover, better valve cover, and replace the gasket, cold side hard pipe, better reliability, higher boost ceiling, and removes the failure point.

Maintenance is always the first thing! 😄 if you’ve acquired a BMW, look at every single gasket under the hood. Including trans pan! If you don’t know when the water pump and thermostat has been replaced, replace it. Ask me how I know! I like the stock 135i headlights but I don’t care for newer BMW designs either 🤷🏻‍♂️ These cars are amazing but they’re like race horses, you can’t neglect them. (Maintenance.)

10:25 some people don't necessarilly install these and other mods in order to be derivative of another car, but because they like the sporty look. my little estoril blue colored hatch would look great with a blacked out grill.

I'm still up in the air with how I feel about my black/white badges - At times I like it and the ones I got are good quality, but other times I consider putting them back to OEM. At the end of the day I like to build my car in a way where the average person would think my car just has an upgraded OEM package....if it doesn't look like it's an option for the car from factory, I'm trying too hard.

OK, thanks bud, your right, a lot of the more add on mods are not needed. And as you know they are marketers moves to make money, or, Not needed . But as you have said it is the persons taste, and no one can say anything. After all ever custom mod tells a story, and for many has a so called purpose. All good, after all it's a hit and miss experience. It's what makes all of us great at what we do.

I actually dig the wrap, mainly because the inspiration was the e90 ctr (which is dope and oem) AND the car needs a full respray which I don’t feel like going through right now. So rather than staring at clapped paint, I put a temporary wrap on it

I would add, you did kinda mention this. If you plan on upgrading to a different vehicle "Do Not" waste money on modification to your current vehicle. You will never get the full value of the modification cost back upon sale or trade. Instead save that money for the vehicle you intend on purchasing to be able to purchase that vehicle sooner.

Remove them asap. Adding m-badges to a non m-car is the worst thing you can do. You can make your car look exactly like an m3 if you’d like and that’s totally fine, but whatever you do do NOT add m3 badges.

The sad truth is that many modifications are driven by a "grass is greener" illusion instead of actually improving the car. But again, as you said, people should do what they like.

I have to agree with the “lipstick on a pig” type mods for base models. I don’t understand why people buy the base model just to buy parts to replicate a higher trim. Save your money for a better down payment on the higher trim and you’ll be in a better place overall

Oem+ is the way to go 🎉!! I have 2 e46m3 I just install coilovers and bbs wheels on both cars everything else stay oem+ And no window tint 😅😂 I love the content man !!

tinting headlights/taillights is the stupidest thing someone can do. if youre in a crash that isnt your fault youll automatically be at fault if the person at fault points at the tints

I regretted putting Lambo doors on my G35. I'm looking back now it's so ricey. Never do that again and my G80 will be a OEM+ build not even aftermarket wheels. Love the current G80 OEM wheels.

Man the GTS tails quickly became so popular. At first I thought they were neat/different. Then it was clear everyone would run them and the stock LCI’s just looked cleaner

First; although I don’t like F3X platforms, you gave a lot of HOPE and inspired a lot of people who might dream owning an F8X or even a 335/340i or 435/440i, but they could only afford a base F3X platform. The double grilles aren’t a wrong modification at all. The control arms, maybe 😂!! On the BayOptics headlights, as long as they look OEM+, there’s nothing wrong with that. Now, honeycombs on a daily car I think is too much. Gold wheels on blue cars are way overdone, but on other colored cars aren’t that bad. Your E36 M3 looked good, I think you gave up on track too quick. Just my opinion. Agreed to disagree!!

@@ThicWhips True, my bad if it came up the wrong way. I meant, simple Bay Optics headlights look better than OEM. Now, when they are over built, they are more for show cars and not daily cars. I think everything you had done to all your cars, small or big, had impacted and inspired a lot of your viewers to modify their cars regardless of their trims, throughout the lifetime of your channel.

No offense taken! The regret for my delete was all in the quality and material! My e36 delete was aluminum, made by mkah. You can imagine how much chatter thin aluminum panels make in the back of a car (it’s a TON) that is why I took them out and went with my backseats. The e92 has a GTS delete by psdesigns. It’s made of wood and alcantara and it fits like a glove. Literally zero noise! So yeah, it was a noise issue for me mostly. But I do enjoy the way they look!
